I'm guessing this won't be a popular entry, but Nelly from the Chronicles of Vladmir Todd tore me up and any other readers I've happened to come across that made it through the whole series. Or since she did pass away before she was turned into a vampire, Snow's is another sad death but one that leads to Todd accepting that he has to take action and accept his role as the Pravus or everyone he loves will end up in someone's crosshairs. I'm guessing they probably left it off here cause it's not very well known. Or at the very least, all the rest of the entries have movie counterparts, and while I would love Vladmir Todd in the medium of film, it sadly doesn't exist yet.

SPOILER ALERTS IN THE VIDEO AND COMMENTS
The deaths in Harry Potter always left me crying for ages
As well as Peter, Edmund, and Lucy from The Chronicles Of Narnia (spoiler alert)-- oh and don't say they didn't die. If you do say, you haven't read the books. Their deaths hit me so hard because they were such heroes
(SPOILER ALERT) Also never forget (I know this technically isn't YA novels but their deaths still hit me) Count Olaf, Kit Snicket, Jacques Snicket, Monty, Aunt Josephine, Dewey, Olivia, Beatrice and Bertrand, and many more volunteers more Volunteers in A Series Of Unfortunate Events.
May they all rest in peace

i'm sad to disagree, the saddest death in YA novels is when Artax dies in the swamp of sadness, from The Neverending Story, he was literally swallowed by his own despair. i still talk about this in therapy

Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep by Lurlene McDaniel came first before the fault in our stars, it came out in 1990 and still I remember it because of how sad it was but also uplifting.

Charlotte's Webb is not a YA novel, it's MG. I would also not consider Lord of the Flies meant for teens? Or Little Women? Do ya'll just not read actual YA or.

As devestating as each HP death was, for me nothing compares to Dobby. That may have been the only time a book ever made he tear up. Here lies Dobby, a free elf.

Tris dying didn't make me sad--it enraged me. I will never read another Veronica Roth book because I don't trust her not to pork up the ending again.

Hannah's death in the book wasn't that sad. On the show yes, but in the book, it really didn't hit that hard. Definitely deaths that were way sadder.

I'd put Newt from Mazerunner at #1, also Outsiders and Damon in Vampire Diaries (even though he comes back in the next book)

I remember watching the Bridge of Terabithia when I was a kid. Leslie's death was shocking, and I refused to believe she was dead.
