These are the top 10 musicals we want adapted for live TV! Weve included musics like The Book of Mormon, The Phantom of the Opera, Little Shop of Horrors, Kinky Boots, Bandstand, Gypsy, Chicago, Hamilton, Beauty and the Beast, Moulin Rouge, West Side Story, and Guys and Dolls! For this list, were looking at musicals that could easily be adapted for the small screen. Were not including musicals already in talks of a TV adaptation, like Rent thats set for a 2019 staging

I feel there should be a Les Mis LIVE! Hear me out, the story would probably translate well to TV, the show is mostly appropriate with the exception of the Lovely Ladies scene. Les Mis, would most likely translate similar to Phantom of the Opera. Les Mis is a classic, and it can sometimes get overlooked by new musical theatre fans. The show has closed, and is now only doing tours. I either want Les Mis LIVE, or another broadway revival. I am a tad biased because Les Mis is my favorite show, but I think it would be a good idea. However, getting mainstream artist to sing some of the roles may be difficult, but that didn't stop the people casting the Les Mis 25th anniversary concert to cast Nick Jonas. We could also have some big-name broadway people in the cast, as well as broadway newcomers. It would introduce so many new musical theatre fans to such a beautiful show. After the success of the movie, it seems they could put on a live TV adaptation. Also imagine if we could get some of the past casts to join in for the final song. It would be beautiful.

these lists are just filler. not a lot of thought goes into them. why would producers give a second's thought to bypassing a feature film for WICKED and HAMILTON? musical films make big bucks nowadays. $300, $400 million and even over a billion. both WICKED and HAMILTON are set for big screen treatments. and BEAUTY and the BEAST? please. that was so recent.

There already was a showing of Phantom on TV. My grandmother taped it for my mom when she was girl. My mom wanted to see it because she had gone and seen Cats and told her other that she was dying to see Phantom. If you had dine any research you might've found out that there was a televised showing of Phantom

Sadly in the midst of this pandemic, it's very risky to plan a live performance of anything. What if a lead star becomes ill? Or the weeks of rehearsal becomes a super spreader event. Until things become really like normal, I'd be very surprised if any network schedules a live performance of any musical.

I am surprised that you did not mentioned A Chorus Line which would be easy to do on live TV.
Another show would be Cats. One of the best and most beloved shows of all. (The new movie is looking more like a nightmare) Both of these shows used to hold the title of longest-running Broadway shows as well.

Am I the only one who thinks Hamilton wont translate well to live TV it's the type of show that should stay on live theater
Also I'm currently reading the life and times of the wicked witch of the west and I would absolutely love to see wicked Live! When I saw it on Broadway it really touched my heart: )

No, please don't. ALL of these television adaptions of live shows have been cringeworthy at best. Live performances rarely transfer well to the small screen. If you want to see any of these, head to your nearest metropolitan area, or see a touring production because typically they are just as great.

Wicked is slated to be made into a movie in 2021 and so a TV production is not likely. Gypsy has already been made into a TV version starring Bette Midler. If you've never seen it, check it out on DVD.

You heathens leave phantom alone weve had enough crappy adaptions even by the own playwright we were burdened with LND. Just leave us and the les mis fans to sulk in our corners
