This show was so cringy to watch. I remember the straw walls episode and being horrified. The thought of trying to remove that! Also anything in the house was fair game for the designer to modify. It use to bother me so much they would often butcher an antique piece of furniture to use in the room. Literally I cant even recall an episode where it actually came off decent. I remember there being an old guy where his designs looked ridiculously child-like comical with bright bold colors and shapes. Ps. I think the straw walls was worse than the fireplace. Lol

Not only do these poor people have to suffer the disappointment of their hideously ugly rooms (particularly disappointing if they'd been working with a gifted designer and created a beautiful space for their neighbours, but they would then have to go to all the work and expense of repainting, picking straw off the walls, shovelling sand out of them home, etc. Also, there's another episode where after the room is revealed, the home owner starts to throttle her neighbour - that one should definitely be on the next list!

Can someone explain to me how Hildi was hired to be a designer? Or what school she got her training from? Either everyone on the casting team was her extended family or they conducted phone interviews. Hildi has managed to destroy these peoples homes with her cheap and unfocused designs. When her career ends (if it hasnt already) hopefully she'll write a tell-all book on how she convinced the TLC team to put her on TV despite her ugly so called designs.

Can I just say the level of arrogance in the designers was always hilarious. Most of thier idea's look like shite and yet they think they are god's gift to the common person. Just ask your local kid to design your room and you will most likely end up with a better result.

I remember watching this with my mom as a kid, and my mom once said Hildi must want to be remembered as the worst interior decorator they ever existed. It was a room I think that had records on the wall.
Looks like her prediction came true.

Hildi is THE WORST designer in history! I cant believe she had a job doing this at all. I remember back in the day watching Trading Spaces and ppl would grimace visibly in disgust when they found out Hildi was their rooms designer!

Hilda was the most dangerous and inconsiderate designer. She would design a room for her own shock value. She never really considered other peoples views who had to actually live in the room she designed.

Ive always said if I were ever on that show and Hildi was my designer, I would walk off the set! I couldnt stand her, her designs were awful. Frank, was my favorite designer.
