I swear ms mojo always does Janet dirty. Janet Jackson, the legendary Empress of Pop and her iconic, legendary, and touching tribute to her brother at the 2009 mtv vmas would have to be number one. While Celine Dion and Jennifer Hudson killed their vocal tributes, Janet's tribute completely represented her brother, Janet dancing with her brother one last timer to the dance break for scream, even the singing, she sounded just like him and killed the moves, so much energy. Janet is the clear #1.

Two epic tributes missing from this list:
Bruce Springsteen, Dave Grohl, Elvis Costello, and Steven Van Zant saluting Joe Strummer with London Calling.
George Harrison's Rock HOF induction saw My Guitar Gently Weeps performed by Tom Petty, Steve Winwood, Jeff Lynne, and (especially) Prince. It might be the greatest performance in the history of the Hall.

No offense but christina Aguilera just ruined whitney houstons song. Christina is an amazing singer but that type of singing is not at all what whitneys type of singing was. The best singers wouldve been celine dion, demi lovato, jordan sparks killed it at billboards, and 100% ARIANA GRANDE her performance of i have nothing for Obama was straight up amazing.

I didn't find any of these artists closely resembling or sounding like the original artists. Just like the title says these are just performances of tribute to those artists. This is not the same thing as tribute bands or tribute singers who usually resemble and sound just like the original artist.

#1 Christina Aguilera's tribute to James Brown, the power of her voice is so incredible! The delivery! The facial emotions are on point! And it is so difficult song, since Aguilera done a tribute to this song many of now singers started to cover this song

I can only imagine the level of pressure Florence Welch felt at the Aretha Franklins tribute. Franklins repertoire already carries weight, and she was the youngest on stage, next to 4 singers that are icons of their own genres. The bravery to do it.

Where is the tribute for George Harrison? The stage was full of iconic performers, guitar players, songwriters, and even his son. Prince slayed it on the stage playing the guitar. I think Ringo and Paul were there as well.

HEART and Shane Fontayne on Lead Guitar did a great tribute for Led Zeppelin at the 2012 Kennedy honors.
Depends on your musical genre where you would pick a top ten. Very subjective.

Anybody else notice that during the Bob Marley tribute everyone was clapping and cheering but Drake just stood there and showed no emotion? I swear he is so disrespectful.
reply

Xtinas Mans World has been imitated and duplicated by so many singers and contestants on singing shows. When you have people imitating tributes, you know it was epic!
reply

Ok why is Bruno Mars number 10 it's at least #2. Whoever is doing this really don't know about music. Not taking from other performances but this was way better.
reply

i loved while my guitar gently weeps at the rock & roll hall of fame induction ceremony for george harrison. prince and company absolutely KILLED it.
reply

Christina Aguilera is rock! The queen of tributes.
From MJ, James Brown, Whitney, Aretha, Liza M, Nina Simone and other big names and legends.

reply

I kinda believe you should've replaced the bowie tribute with lady gaga's performance bc it was beautiful. That's just my opinion tho
reply

I can't believe you didn't include Lada Gaga singing New York New York at the Sinatra's 100 birthday celebration. Was the best thing ever!
reply

It's a CRIME the fact that Mariah's tribute for Patti Labelle is not on this video. NOTHING is more angel than she sing If Only You Knew!
reply

This misses a whole bunch of Fantasia ( the tribute queen) performances! Christina verse jus on Whitney. Mmmm jhud not equal at all!
reply

Am I the only person dying for Bruno Mars to do an MJ tribute? I swear he's this generation's Michael Jackson.
reply

Christina Aguileras tribute to Whitney Houston was amazing and made me cry. She sang with the hologram of her.
reply

So in case it isnt clear, Christina Aguilera and Jeniffer Hudson are very good at the whole tribute business
reply

And number #1 should been Chris Brown Michael Jackson tribute. An were is Lady Gaga tribute to David Bowie?
reply

I loved Bruno Mars's Prince tribute. Hell, he got 2 use Prince's white cloud guitar! How cool was that?
reply

Bro, Hearts tribute to Led Zeppelin should've been on this list, and honestly should've taken lordes place
reply
