While I did hear that Meet Cutest are highly unlikely, but let me tell you from personal experience. They do happen to real people outside of movies, tv, and books.
20 years ago I met my current husband in a public library, after my college computer lab ate my term papers. As you may guess I was very upset, and terrified that my grade point average was about to tank. I had come to that library multiple times over the years of college to research papers and assignments, and every time. I was all about business, and NO Social Interaction. I didn't speak to anyone unless in direct relations to my reasoning for being within the library, but against our now mutual friend's advise. My husband came up to me, spoke to me, and enchanted me to smile. We were friends to start, but after years of friendship. We have now been married for a year and a half.
So the accidental cutest can happen to anyone and everyone. You just have to be open to that chance encounter.

Is it just me or does anyone else get mad when watching a wedding scene and then the bride or groom is like I'm sorry, I can't do this, I love someone else. You wasted like hundreds of people's time and money just to run away at the last second for a revelation that could've happened before everyone dropped everything to come to your wedding. I don't know, just my thoughts when watching scenes like in Sweet Home Alabama

Seriously? They're movies. reality is the opposite of what I want. Cinema is escapism for some (namely me) Most people are intelligent enough to understand that these things aren't conducive to a real life meaningful relationship. However, I will say that trying to recreate such epic moments functions as an adorable way to meet/entertain potential love interests

Dude, some of these have happened in real life. To me, in front of me, to someone I know. It sounds like some bitter person ready to give up on the one redeemable thing about humanity made this negative rant about how love is a lie. Love isn't like the movies because it's better. Don't buy in to this shit just cause you haven't found it yet.

I see so many people in real life trying to replicate these things because they think thats what love is. They dont think about the human aspects. A lot of women who I know expect it to be Fairy tale and a lot of guys I know think its ok to do the over the top gestures because thats what the women want. Glad you did this list and so well.

One I've noticed a lot (tho maybe more in old movies than modern) is if the star breaks up with their love, they immediately agree to marry someone else who they are not in love with. I hate that! Why would you marry someone you do not love just because you ended it (for whatever reason) with the one you truly love? Makes no sense to me.
reply

I agree with the grand gestures thing. I used to watch videos of guys asking girls to prom or proposing to them in a big way but not every girl is into that kind of thing. Im personally more shy and reserved so a grand gesture that puts me in the center of attention would make me anxious.

I wish I would've found this list when I was a kid. It would've saved me a lot of disappointment when I was just out dating. Rom-coms are a lot of fun to watch but they just build up unrealistic expectations for real relationships.
That's why more couples should switch to horror movies lol.

The movie trope that I have come to detest in romantic movies is the Mad dash to the airport to convince your love interest to stay trope. It just strikes me as cheesy, overly sentimental, and most likely to get you arrested or restrained by security than anything else.
reply

What's wrong with fantasies? U made it sound like u have 2 feel susidual and be depressed is r destiny 4 encouraging 2 commiting suside 4 reality. There's. Nothing wrong with fantasy movie as long as we know it's not realistic. It does make us feel warm and fuzzy.

Typical MsMojo taking away all the romance and fun from these wonderful movies. People can meet in weird ways you know, also, my love IS all I need. so seriously STFU! #saltyAF P. S. Grand gestures are ROMANTIC and SWEET!

And this is why I still will never know anything about dating. So now, I'm too afraid of asking a firl out on a date. And after the most brutal rejection, I will never ever ever ever ask a girl out on a date. ever again. Never.

Actually, a guy who was interested in my aunt, walked up our forested mile long driveway, on a hill, in the rain and had cardstock messages he showed her as she watched from her bedroom window. It was the cutest thing.
reply

You know I used to watch those scenes when the cute nerdy guy would stare at his crush from across the room and think: Aww! So adorable. But now I have this guy at work who does it and it's actually very unsettling.
reply

Meet cutes exist. Thats literally how I met my husband. We embarrassed the hell out of ourselves in Wal-Mart. Ended up dating a month later and married three and a half years later.
reply

#1: you actually succeed in it
#2: The lack of communication part is wrong, its better to keep quiet and lie like crazy, you only do a mistkae if you are honest.

reply

What movies get wrong about dating: just about everything.
Well yeah, it's a MOVIE. It's supposed to be unrealistic, playing out people's fantasies, and be dramatic.

reply

I hate it when romantic movies gloss over the problems and don't talk about the fight that tore them apart. Drives me freakin' nuts. Communication is key!
reply

I feel like most of the women showed in the panic pixie dream girl segment are women who's plot lines buck again the manic pixie trope.
reply

As someone who has social anxiety and hates to be the center of attention, the grand gesture thing is a nightmare scenario to me.
reply

At 3: 30 what's funny about that is that my girlfriend and I honestly met in a chance encounter. In fact it happened online.
reply

What about pick-up lines? Does anyone actually use them? Although, I wouldn't mind a grand gesture sometime, like flowers.
reply

I don't know about showing Romeo and Juliet in the Love Will Conquer All part, considering they both died at the end.
reply

Yup. Most guys don't go for the Manic Pixie Dream Girls. They go for the bombshells. They're usually friendzoned.
