Four years on and this is still an excellent list.
I know there's tons who love Up's score, but for me The Incredibles just takes it.
While Up utilises its main theme beautifully for both uplifting and heartbreaking moments, I struggle to remember the music for the big action scenes. Unlike The Incredibles where every single scene is made more memorable because of the music, like that extra bit of polish on a trophy.
There's the big bombastic tunes like: 'The Glory Days' and 'Bob vs the Omnidroid'.
The more romantic tunes of: 'Meet Elastigirl', 'School's Out' and 'Adventure Calling'.
Even tracks like 'Newsreel' and 'Mr Huph will see you now' which are under a couple of minutes, have all the effort packed in, hitting every feeling spot on.
And of course the iconic, dread inducing theme 'Kronos Unveiled', which builds and builds from flute and strings, to an explosion of brass and percussion as Mr Incredible learns Syndrome's horrifying plan. It is no surprise hearing this that Giacchino was picked for The Batman.
The range of instruments is also superb, each piece having it's own little feature: 'Off to work' a trumpet solo, 'Life's Incredible Again' being a saxy joint. And then tiny solo bars of bassoon, wooden recorder and harp dotted into a piece when you least expect it.

Ratatouille (2007): 06/29/2007
Ratatouille is the soaring and luxurious feast for movie lovers. Screenwriter/director Brad Bird continues to define himself as one of the awesome filmmakers of our generation, this time with the wonderful story of the rat who dreams to become the chef. This animated masterpiece creates environments that are so fully realized, so rich with detail, that both young and old alike will feel as though their passports have been stamped and their palates filled with gratitude. American Film Institute raises the glass of the fine French Cabernet to Ratatouille at the significant heart of the film and to celebrate their union here is the connection of artist and critic.

Up (2009): 05/29/2009
Up is the extraordinary story of the adventure in life. Writers/directors Pete Docter, Bob Peterson and their team of high-flying technical artists of PIXAR Animation Studios have created the storytelling experience both heartwarming and hilarious as they explore new territories for animation. The film travels through the profoundly expressive adventure of love, loss and letting go with Edward Asner and Christopher Plummer led the worthy voiceover renditions. Up takes creativity and positivity to power many of us on the balloon ride of our lives and filled with equal parts helium and heart.

Inside Out (2015): 06/19/2015
Disney and PIXAR Inside Out invites audiences on the meditative adventure unlike any other: bringing the emotions to life that makes us whole, while sending them on their own sentimental search for finding oneself. Presenting this factual exploration as the epic candy colored confection, Pete Docter and the brain trust of PIXAR Animation Studios have created the utterly memorable experience: taking us inside the mind of the young girl to consider the expressive bond between happiness and sadness.

While I fully agree that all these film scores deserve to be on this list, I kind of wish Finding Dory got at least an honorable mention. Contrary to what many may think, its not a simple rehash of Finding Nemos score. It has several original pieces, with some of my personal favorites being in the last act of the film. I went through a period where I relistened to a handle of tracks over and over again, finding them to be some of the most moving and beautiful pieces I have heard from a film score in some time.

Difficult to compare those magnifcent scores.
Up makes your hart break everytime you hear Elly's score
Finding nemo takes you on with the ride
The Incredibels feels so natural with the story.
Luckily i own all special editions of pixar movies.
That additional disc how the movie is made from concept to theater release is more then worth it!
They are all an enjoyable rewatchable work of art and buying a copy also secures pixars future.

Finding Nemo (2003): 05/30/2003
Finding Nemo combines the razor sharp script that harkens back to the comedy of Preston Sturges and the stunning animated world that entrances with each shift in the light in order to swam its way into the heart of America. Albert Brooks and Ellen DeGeneres brings the funniest but always touching human element of the film that will succeed the animation classic for generations to come.

Now I'm gonna start paying a LOT more attention to underscores and orchestral moments in animated films. I never realized how much they affect the movie and the emotions you feel throughout the film.

Up should have been either 1 or 2; not because it won an Oscar, but because, instead of merely enhancing scenes, the music pretty much told the story itself.

Thank you so much for including Finding Nemos score on this list. I so agree that its one of Disney/Pixars best, if not the best one for sure.

Even in the honorable mentions, they had to list the rest of the Pixar movies.
That tells you something about Pixars music.
