How are there no Game of Thrones couples on this list? Ned and Catelyn, Jon and Ygritte, Robb and Talisa, Dany and Drogo, Tyrion and Shae anyone?
Some others worth considering:
Sawyer and Juliet (Lost)
Sayid and Shannon (Lost)
Daryl and Beth (TWD)
Rick and Lori (TWD)
Bob and Joyce (Stranger Things)
Mark and Lexie (GA)
Denny and Izzie (GA)
Ryan and Marissa (The O. C)
And I'll never forgive the Supernatural writers for the tragedy that was Dean and Jo! The only woman that was ever worthy of Dean on that show.

Kelly Severide and Ana from Chicago Fire. Kelly signed up to be a bone marrow donor for Ana who was diagnosed with cancer and after the transplant they became a couple. Ana did break up with Kelly saying they werent right for each other, but Kelly deduced the reason she broke up with him is because her cancer had come back and she didnt want to put him through the pain of losing her. They did get back together until Ana died from cancer with Kelly at her bedside.

I strongly disagree with #1. Angel and Buffy, while tragic during the second season and once Angel left for LA, were two people who never stopped being important to each other, and were there for each other in subsequent seasons. They never stopped being special to each other. I think the most tragic spot should go to a couple where one of the parties either died or left for good, eliminating all potential from any kind of relationship.

Sun and Jin was a really good story. Since they were both dead already, its even more touching. And oh my when Buffy killed Angel, I had tears in my eyes. I think Ive teared up three times in my life for a tv show. The other ones were when Green died in ER, and the other was Third watch, cant remember his characters name but they were playing Anya Only Time. That probably helped a lot.

How can Grey's Anatomy not make a list like this? One of the most popular shows ever, with a plethora of couple stories. Izzie and Denny, Lexie and Mark, Teddy and Henry - all with good stories leading up to their relationships and ending with tragic deaths. Hell, Lexie and Mark both died in their case. I don't get these lists sometimes, they can be so off a lot of the time

Regina and Robin was way more tragic. I didn't shipped Zelena and Hades. Also, I think Allison and Scott deserved to be here too. ( also, you should really put a trigger warning for the graphic scenes like Glenn's death. Glenn and Maggie was really the worst to me, so sad and violent, the acting was brillant.
reply

Spuffy was much better than Bangel imo
I'd have put Clarke and Lexa as number one on this list. I was ready to quit watching over Lexa's death though Lincoln's death was the final straw for me when I actually quit watching. That show was going downhill and I'm glad I quit when I did.

Maggie and Glen still haunts me. Buffy and Angel will be together, some day. some day. I'm sad, disappointed and ashamed Xena and Gabriel were not mentioned. Those two since day one had such a special bond that grew and grew and grew and the way it all ended.
reply

Buffy and Angel definetely deserved nr 1. Watched it million times, each time cried like an idiot both at the end of season 2, when they broke up in Season 3 and also, in Season 4 (Season 1 of Angel, the forget me not episode, literally wrecked me Q_Q.

Tragic ships that weren't on this list that should have been SPOLIERS AHEAD

Cole/Phoebe (Charmed)
Regina/Daniel and Regina/Robin (OUAT)
Emma/Neal (OUAT)
Belle/Rumplestitlskin (OUAT)
Mary/Francis (Reign)
Lance Sweets/Daisy (Bones)

Finn and Rachel, Jack and Rebecca. All of them were tragic tv couples but my number one always will be BUFFY AND ANGEL. I cried so much with these two: ( Their love story is so tragic and epic.
I miss on the list: Tara and Jax from Sons of anarchy

reply

It still should have been Willow in terra because terra didn't get to come back. If having to kill the one you love is what made the top of the list, then what about Sookie and Bob from True Blood?
reply

Matthew and Mary Crawley were the most tragic in my book, especially since she'd just given birth to their son and everything should have been happy and joyous. And Jack Pearson was hard, too.
reply

What made Fred's death even more painful to watch is the knowledge that her soul was destroyed by the demon who took over her body. :( I think they should have been either #1 or #2.
reply

Phoebe and Cole - Charmed
Sybil and Tom - Downton Abbey
Amanda and Aiden - Revenge
Marissa and Ryan - O. C.
Alicia and Will - The Good Wife
Almost all Lost and TVD couples

Yo hold up. youre gonna try to tell me you didnt put Mark and Lexie on this list when I literally cried for a week after watching them die and felt that pain as if they were real
reply

I think Alisha & Simon deserved more than an honorable mention. Unlike the other couples they're doomed to repeat/relive their tragic story over and over and over again.
reply

I still don't know why Clarke and Lexa made it over Mark and Lexie. Clarke and Lexa were not nearly as established an item, yet somehow, they were treated as such.
reply

I am annoyed that internet lists put Jon and Dany on their lists, when Jon and Ygritte was done far better, and shouldve been on those lists.
reply

WOW Absolutely NO romances from Grey's Anatomy? I find that super shocking! Also Dexter and Rita from Dexter should have been on here!
reply

I'm telling you guys, I'm in mid 30s. When Buffy angel storyline was going. It was powerful and ushered in copycats for next 20 years
reply

i just finished watching htgawm and i would like to say that wess death stabbed me in the heart but i will forever ship wes and laurel.
reply

You forgot:
Ryan and Marissa from The OC
Scott and Allison from Teen Wolf
Meredith and Derek from Grey's Anatomy

reply

Bro if Jax and Tara from SOA isnt on this list, idk what they r doing. Nothing more tragic than what happened to them.
reply

I think Alaric from Vampire Diaries and his love interests should be on the list.
9: 40 Misfits! Yes! I love them!

reply

It doesn't end in death but Brandon and Callie from The Fosters had a love that was tragic and doomed from the start
reply

I thought Lincoln and Octavia was more heartbreaking than Lexa and Clark. Both deserved the top 10 though.
reply

Captain Canary, Skeyward. stories where two of them supposed to be end game but writers ruined everything.
reply
