Hugh Jackson is the ultimate triple threat! For this list, weve compiled moments that highlight the more musical side of this actor, singer and producers career. While the Aussie sure has some serious dance moves, if he isnt belting out a tune, you wont find it on this list. Weve included entries like Not the Boy Next Door at the 58th Tony Awards, Who Am I, from Les Miserables, duet with Neil Patrick Harris at the 65th Tony Awards, and more!

Hugh jack superb.
The songs in the Greatest Showman are so cookie cutter vanilla 4 chord pop songs that it's an insult to true musical theater (as well as songwriters who understand and implement theory beyond the pedestrian level) that they were and remain popular.
When every song is a show stopper then none of them are.
I don't think it's too much to ask that a movie musical have musical structure and harmonic voicings a shade or two above that of Katy Perry or Justin Bieber.
But alas The Greatest Showman sold a zillion albums so what do I know?

Ah yes, Oklahoma, where I first fell in love with the combination of curly hair and his voice, and where I was introduced to the fact that Hugh Jackman does musical theater. And now that I know that fact very well, what I'd really like to have seen is a full production of Beauty and the Beast with Hugh Jackman playing Gaston. Haha that scene in this video where he outshines the guy who played Gaston in the recent movie, I couldn't help myself. I had burst out in a small chuckle. :)

I have adored LES MISERABLES for so many years.
When I learned there would finallyFINALLY be a film made of the musical I was worried. But just for a moment or two.
The hysterical question that screamed in my brain was WHO COULD POSSIBLY PLAY JEAN VALJEAN?
Then the calm quiet whisper relied, Dont worry. You KNOW Hugh will be cast. No one else could do it. You know that.
Really, there couldnt be anyone else that could have given the perfect performance he did.

You all are all so caught up in his looks and charming mannerisms that yall ears must be broken. Hugh CANNOT sing, PERIOD! but ppl keep making him move in error, lying to him that he can. I can adore someone n still tell them the hard truth. He sounds nasally n pitchy. He needs to stop. Ppl need to start telling the truth, my gosh.

Love all these moments. You asked if we agree I do. except one thing. Hugh Jackman kept strudel with Zac Efron? Honesty, I loved watching Zach in this and he impressed but in side by side comparison you could see all the years of Hugh's training, he was more crisp and clean. Efron was keeping pace with him.

I love the song, The Other Side, but in terms of choreography, I think it's the weakest in terms of execution. It's such an upbeat song but they barely move throughout most of the song. The other musical sequences in the film use the songs a lot better in my opinion.

I was lucky enough to see Hugh in Beauty and the Beast back in 1995.
I took my daughter who was a bit cranky, due to long bus trip and long wait, but I have never seen a small child cheer up so fast when the music started with a bang.
It was a great show.

Yes agree Ms Needman the waiter was wonderful. It is a shame that there are so many talented entertainers who are not acknowledged because they are now stars or have not been given the opportunity. It happens in the entertainment world.

Your second honorable mention is labeled incorrectly. It is not You got Trouble. It I is the spoken chorus number Rock Island.
What is mind blowing about Jackman's performance is he is doing all the parts of a multi-part Fugue.

He's my favourite actor and did most of these songs on his tour The Man. The Music. The Show. He was amazing and hilarious. Seeing him sing live with Keala Settle made me cry my eyes out, it was stunning.

First saw Hugh Jackman in Oklahoma and fel ok in love without the his voice. I was so excited anticipating the Les Miserables, and so let down when the movie opened with him singing falsetto.

Do not like the commentary on top of the video. The title should be Commentary on Hugh Jackman Musical Moments. If this is the way all of MsMojo posts are, I am unsubscribing.

His other performance are all absolute gems, but I particularly like his opening number for the 2009 Oscar Award Night. His voice and Anne Hathaways is a match made in heaven!
reply

From Les Miz, I'd've gone with Bring Him Home. Another great one was the Tony's where he's singing synopses of best picture nominees & brings Anne Hathaway onstage

The man is so talented, incredibly good-looking, great dancer, great singer, phenomenal actor and yet he can't get an Oscar. Is Hollywood deaf, dumb, and blind?
reply

Can't believe you talk so loudly, and drown out the voices you claim to be featuring. SO sorry I couldn't hear Jackman more than half the time in this 'tribute'
reply
