Historians have pointed out that Joan of Arc didn't lead directly: she denied calling herself a commander, and the Royal military records and eyewitness accounts show that there was always a nobleman in command. Some of the nobles said they asked her for advice because they believed she was Divinely inspired, but she didn't have a command position. And she didn't defy convention: there were many medieval mystics and religious visionaries who were consulted for advice by leaders in that era, and that's the role she held. She wasn't a rebel for the same reason: her stated goal was to place her king on his throne.

Rosa Parks no doubt was a boss in her own right buttttttt, her refusal to give up her seat was planned by civil rights leaders ( Martin Luther King and company) the actual pioneer of that bossed up move was a 15yr old black girl named Claudette Colvin! The Civil rights leaders figured she was too young to lead the cause and be the face of the movement, so they recruited Rosa Parks! Give credit where its due!

If you really know history you should have never forgotten the bravery of these five women Sanite Belair, Catherine Flon, Claire Heureuse, Cecil Fatiman and Dede Bazile. These are the five bad ass female who fought in the Haitian Revolution to help Haiti become the world's first free black Republic.

#2 correction: white American women were given the vote. Not American women. And margaret sanger was a eugenicist whose whole foundation surrounding birth control started as a way to stop blacks from reproducing, and she shouldn't be celebrated.
reply

Margaret Sanger? She was a huge eugenics follower, she believed in birth control because she thought the country was becoming too dark and felt it was the best way to stop this was to stop the darker people from breeding. Not someone exactly to admire!
reply

Claudette Colvin was first one to do that, not Rosa Parks!
She did it 9 months before Rosa, she was just 15 years old.
But NAACP did not want to use her to represent their organization because she was young and pregnant.

these badass women suffered real bad
ones daughters were raped
another was fed raw eggs through a tube
some were beaten and sent to a mental asylum
one was a slave for years
these are really brave heroines

reply

Rosa Parks doesnt deserve to be on this list. She wasnt the first person to refuse to give up her seatClaudette Colvin was. She was planted by MLK to stir the pit because she was lighter and cake from a better background.
reply

Margaret Sanger helped to kill my people and use us as guinea pigs:
the puerto rican pill trials
look it up. we were promised financial liberty and free healthcare, but instead were made infertile and were killed.

reply

Not you guys bringing up Margaret Sanger as if she wasn't a racist out here strategically placing those birth control places in black neighborhoods. all masked as helping black ppl
reply

African queen khandis brought Time to it's knees. She is said to have had their leaders head buried under her doorstep so she could walk over him all the time. She had one eye.
reply

Claudette Colvin was the first woman to refuse to give up her bus seat. Not Rosa Parks. The NAACP used Claudette's idea for Rosa. Sad that people don't know.
reply

I'll give Joan of Arc #1 for Warriors but for this list I would choose Harriet Tubman for the top spot and Catherine the Great the top spot for the Leaders list.
reply

Attractive women who date Short Men are the real rebels
women who date 6' tall guys are the modern day sheep doing whatever the mainstream media tells them.

reply

Fyi these women arent even that much of a badass compared to so many INDIA ASIAN JAPAN AND SO MANY OF THE OTHER NON EUROPE AND AMERICAN WOMEN PRESENT IN THE LIST
reply

This is a good list (although sander was a known racist. But how come almost all of these women are either white or American women of African descent.
reply

Margaret Sanger was a fan of eugenics. I think she could've been replaced by someone else like Reba or Sophie Scholl; one of honorable mentions
reply

CORRECTION: In 1920 white women were given the right to vote. Not ALL women. Black women were not given the right until MANY years later!
reply

Joana D'arc, an humble woman who gaved her life for God. She's a Saint, not a feminist. If she was a feministn, shouldn't be a Saint
reply

Margeret sanger? Really? Of all the woman in history you choose a women who thought blacks where sub human? Mojo you are garbage
reply

Ok, glad you got Joan of Arc and Boudicca but you massively missed Zenobia and Saint Olga both on a par with Atilla the hun.
reply

Curious why you picked Alice Paul over Emmeline Pankhurst, since the latter spent time in jail as well. The forced feeding?
reply

Sophie Scholl certainly deserves more than an honorable mention. She bravely faced the guillotine for resisting Nazism.
reply

Where is Susan B. Anthony and Elizabeth Cady Stanton? They basically founded the suffragette movement in America.
reply

Seriously if u are looking for rebels who change history where is Nanny of the Maroons. She is the ultimate rebel.
reply
