I LOVE the Producers but Book of Mormon is #1 for sure! By FAR the funniest ever. I LOVE musical theatre so I've been to my fair share and Book of Mormon is BY FAR the best time I've ever had at a show. I'm actually the only straight guy I know that really loves musical theatre so I've always had to either go alone or pay double to bring a date (not cheap when you're lower/working class like me) But Book of Mormon imo isnt just the funniest musical ever, it might be the most accessible as well. Basically anyone would enjoy it as long as they have a sense of humor so I actually got to go with my friends for once and we ALL had such an AMAZING time (all 3 times. I don't why good COMEDIES never seem to get the recognition they deserve but I'd even put it up there with the greatest musicals/broadway shows of all time PERIOD. Arguably #1.

Whenever I see a musical comedy, I always see them sacrificing one aspect for the other, with the same applying to comedy songs in general (at least from what Ive seen) I just wanna hear a song that I could jam too while also laughing my but off, like that one song from that waitress musical that goes I love you means your never ever gettin rid of me! That one was a riot and a bopper
Edit: Also most of them can be pretty crude, which is not my thing

What is the spongebob squarepants musical? Chopped liver! This is the 3rd Miss Mojo video I've watch today, along with top 10 Broadway songs that get you pumped and top 10 Broadway shows of the 2010s, that I hoped spongebob squarepants would be on them SOMEWHERE and in all three videos it didn't even make the honorable mentions. That's kinda disappointing.

I absolutely love The Producers BUT The Book Of Mormon is definitely the funniest. There are so many laugh out loud moments in this show! The funniest moment for me being the tap dance during Turn It Off.
. and if you just put down that gun Ill show you Oh Ok I leave!

There's a lot of funny stuff in Chicago, Phantom, and Les Miz.
And Moulin Rouge -- but in this video they seem to be listing broadway musicals, which shouldn't include musicals that were only movies, or primarily known as movies.

I saw The Producers in London 2004 with Nathan Lane (whom I just adore. Never laughed so much in my life, especially when there were some goofs, or lines were forgotten. The audience just went along with it and cheered.

I missed the Rocky Horror Show and La Cage aux folles in the Honorable mentions -and I would definitely have put Little Shop of Horrors on rhe main list. MY No. 1 is The book of Mormon
reply

Not to be that kind of person, but Little Shop of Horrors should've gotten higher than honorable mentions. I'm hard to make laugh sometimes but that one really does it for me.
reply

I like Guys and Dolls, but just don't think it's all that funny. I haven't seen all of these, but I think that Spamalot, Little Shop, and Urinetown deserve to place higher than G&D.
reply

My Favorite Comedy Musicals are A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, Singin' in the Rain, Xanadu, The Little Shop of Horrors and The Book of Mormon.
reply

Avenue Q and BOM are the two most freaking funny musicals Ive ever heard, it doesnt surprise me in the slightest that they were written by the same people
reply

Shrek should have been in the spot that Gentlemans Guide is in.
Sutton is represented well though with Drowsy Chaperone.
Another great list Emily!

reply

What? What about literally anything that is starkid, I mean i'm sory but u never said it had to be musicals that are on broadway, so I don't understand
reply

Ummmmmmm you forgot beetlejuice and heathers there'er hilarious musicals and also their pretty popular soooooo why did you forget them whyyyyyyyyy
reply

I know it's fairly new and idk if it was out but Everybody's Talking About Jamie is so funny! But the humour is very British centred
reply

First Date and Beetlejuice weren't on the list. Although I'm glad Hairspray placed, these two deserve to be somewhere on the list.
reply

the fact they put guys and dolls higher up than spamalot, and the fact Urinetown is only an HM makes me lowkey sad
reply

Very very great fun list I like it a lot and a lot of fun too great job mis mojo one of my very favorite list ever
reply

I'd add anything from Starkid, and Beetlejuice, but I totally agree that The Producers is the clear number one
reply

I just saw The Drowsy Chaperone at a local production and it was one of the funniest things I've ever seen.
reply

Something rotten is my least favorite musical Ive seen how is it #4?
Edit: I disagree with a most of these

reply

I love the producers I have the original poster from the movie that was hung up outside a cinema on my wall
reply

I'm glad The Producers was on top, but seriously? Only an honorable mention for Little Shop of Horrors?
reply

But what about company! I saw the new version on west end and it was the funniest show Ive ever seen!
reply

This girl is really biased on Beetlejuice. Shes only mentioned it ONCE. Alex Brightman is a LEGEND
