i was researching jason earles for the very reason of how old he was and i found out there are rumors that he has kallmann syndrome which basically means puberty is either late or it never happens. it is a genetic disease so i would argue that if those rumors are true he doesn't have good genes just a lack or very late puberty

It's NOT unusual for Hollywood (or anyone, really) to cast adults as teens.
I think most movies and shows have done it - and actually find it unusual that the only fictional teens I can think of who was acted by teens around the same age were Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen. (you can correct me on this if I'm wrong)

I hate to break it to you but this is nothing different or new. This happened often among tv programs depicting adult actors playing teen roles. Mighty morphin power rangers charmed and Beverly hills 90210 are good examples of that fact holding true.

A 22 year old playing a 16/17 year old is pretty normal. That didn't shock me at all. I'm okay with them hiring someone that age but I admit that I think hiring someone that is 28 to 30 at the start of a highschool series is pretty jarring to me.

It doesnt really shock me that adults are playing teens because kids/teenagers can only be on set for a certain amount of time but if your 18 + there is no time limit to how long u can be on set for.

I think people forget that there are child labour laws. A big part of why they hire 19+ actors that can pass as looking 15/16 because they can work the hours necessary to film.
