The song Let it go has no doubt brought a classic revolution setting new standards for Disney or any animated stand alone songs As the song shows that Elsa is finally accepting her powers and who she is and letting go those heavy grudges that were holding her down. And in the end of the story she goes back to Anna and to the life she was in but with much understanding and acceptance that might seem to be an happy ending, but still there were so many questions that were unanswered. Such as why She has those powers? Where those powers came from? What's the reason? Who she actually is and who's the person she meant to be? What's her destiny? If living a life with her family is her destiny then why does she has these powers? Where does she belong? And what is it that she can do with her powers? That's where In to the Unknown came in. In the song Elsa listens to her intuitions that speaks continuously that this is not her destiny, something bigger than life is waiting for her to follow her heart and getting out of mediocrity of life. As Elsa sings her heart out she and the viewers realize that something magical is there that's destined to be found out by Elsa in order to know the reason why she has those powers. In to the unknown is not the 2nd Let it go because it doesn't had to be. Comparing the both songs is a mistake and by doing that u r missing out the gem that the song has to offer. In to the Unknown has this theme that people can relate to like I did. And doesn't gave me the same feeling that let it go did. It was different and a feeling that takes u to upper level. You can relate that yes u know Elsa has powers, yes she knows her strength but she doesn't know what does she stands for, what's her destiny. And as she realizes that in the song, viewers also get excited to see that yes this is not the end there's something out there magical that is yet to be discovered.
And in the song show yourself, Elsa finally reaches her destiny and knows who she is why she had these powers and reaches the optimistic level of her own as she and her futureself are now one, leaving no unanswered questions. The three songs one after another shows the journey of Elsa discovering her true self, step by step. Isn't it.

Can we pretty please with snowflakes on top get a Let it Go vs. Show Yourself video? Show Yourself, in my opinion, has the same emotional weight of Let it Go, and even takes what Let it Go established and goes further with it. Let it Go is about self love and self empowerment; Show Yourself is about finding one's purpose for being in this world, self discovery, and accepting one's true self. Show Yourself couldn't have happened without Let it Go, though. Elsa needed to accept her powers (and by extension herself) before venturing on a journey that would require the full extent of her powers. Show Yourself takes that self acceptance and develops it further by applying it to the feeling of finding one's purpose. Both are fantastic songs, but Show Yourself is the natural evolution of what Let it Go was and a great way to bring a beautifully developed character full circle from the span of two movies.
And also, Elsa happy-crying at the sight of her mother (after just watching why she had died) and singing with her about finding her true self will always make me cry. And Elsa's new white dress with her hair down earns my seal of approval: )

Actualy considerring music theory and if you have seen on of the interviews from the songwritterst heres actually so much more behind this song than let it go(on a musical level. Cause they are using the actual notes to show Elsa's feelings and train of thought.
One example being the verse tthe Into the UNKNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWN
first time its an octave which is sth commons, the safe place, the comfort zone that Elsa wants to stay in.
second time she says it its one step further. which is her temptation and question of Should i go ahead and do this? but she goes back again to the octave. she is still having doubts.
third time its an 11th. its such a big jump between notes its almost unheard of! in clasical music writting so it depicts how she is like lets do it, i can do it, i want to do it! and decides to embrace that its in her to go ahead and see hwats coming for her.
ITS GENIUS!

Yes, she has all those that have shown happiness and love towards her and for her yet the sequel is showing a mental health message once again. Cause Elsa may seem happy and fulfilled on the outside yet she shows and conveys what every mentally ill person like her has felt their entire life. The movie showing how lost she feels inside. Like Arendelle is not her true home and that she feels she'd be happiest somewhere that she'll feel a sense of belonging to after so long. Her parents taught her to isolate herself and her powers from everybody, including herself. They were basically telling her that it's not ok for her to be her truest self yet here they tell her via spiritually that it's now ok for her to fully accept herself for whom she is and what she's destined for.

Let It Go is a pretty good showstopper but I love Into The Unknown and Show Yourself. Each song shows Elsa's character changing attitude towards her powers and how her role as queen feels limiting. Elsa seems to want to explore the world, but she can't really do that as a ruler. So Into The Unknown may lack the star power of Let It Go but it helps the character Elsa question if they're a good fit for Arendelle as a ruler. Show Yourself is Elsa trying to get answers about her powers. It shows her starting to truly embrace herself as a person. Elsa is starting to showing signs of wanting to be a explorer. The movie Frozen 2's plot unfortunately is lacking in certain areas so this character change or development gets lost in the movie plot.

I don't get it, yeh I can tell. 'Into the Unknown' reminds me of 'How Far I'll Go' from Moana. All her loved ones were on the island yet the ocean was calling out to her, just like the unknown was calling out to Elsa. It's a call to something more, something missing inside you, a desire unfulfilled, a mystery unsolved, a longing for completeness. In Frozen 2's case it's just a bit more literal with the a mystical siren actually calling out to her. Though Elsa's feelings should have been set-up a bit better, like they were for Moana. Moana is clearly the better movie after all.
'Let It Go' is definitively the better song, but the feels behind 'Into the Unknown' also hit hard for me.

I think this is a case of misguided song selection. Disney did this with Moana, too. The better song was the song of Our Ancestors. Had Disney selected that song, they would have stood a better chance of winning the Oscar. Show Yourself is a continuation of Let It Go and connects to Elsa's growth of character. I think they didn't choose it because it would give the story away! That's the only reason I can think of why Show Yourself hasn't garnered the same level of acclaim as Into the Unknown. Or the marketing team said, here, this is the next earworm.

I love this song. I identify with Elsa a lot. I always wanted to travel and see the world, but my family and everyone I ever loved was at home. I was conflicted, should I give in to my dreams and go into the unknown to find myself or stay put where I was safe and loved. but there was something missing. This is a question that most teenagers have to ask themselves when they reach adulthood. The fact that you think the song lacks meaning is ridiculous. It tells a lot about lack of self-awareness.

Sorry guys but this is incredibly biased, Into the Unknown is an amazing song from a great movie and fits into the story perfectly as it is the starting point of the actual adventure in the story and it's not that Elsa feels lonely but rather a voice is calling her and she is willing to go after it. Maybe Let it Go does fit better and tell a better story but Into the Unknown should not be judged that harshly upon. Though I do think Show Yourself is better than both of these songs.

Okay, so the part about Dies Irae, I would like to say something. They said that its meant to signal death, and said that it shouldnt be in the song but, the call is telling Elsa to go into the unknown and find the truth about her powers. When she finally gets to do that, she goes to far and SHE DIES! She goes to far and she drowns. So, Dies Irae fits perfectly in my opinion.
Edit: Its even used in Show Yourself many times and thats the song that happens right before she dies.

Into The Unknown lost the Oscar to the song from Elton John's biopic, Rocketman. Weep Disney shills. Weep. The Lopez couple were no match for and are inferior to the legendary Elton John. Let It Go may have won, but Frozen failed to win twice for the exact same category. Deal with it. Facts don't care about your feelings.

Disagree.
A whole bunch of no.
About the lyrics, at least.
It begins with her denying it.
And then she cannot resist anymore.
Fairly classic.
What bugged in that movie was Anna.
She was the crazy girlfriend.

I love both the songs from the two movies. I've been listening to the soundtrack non-stop after I saw Frozen 2.
I think Into the Unknown from Frozen 2 will definitely win the Oscar for Best Original Song.

Do you know Surfs up. It was an amazing movie. It shares director with Frozen 1 and 2. And now you have to think how low you can fall from inteligent, creative masterpiece to generic Disney movie.

Elton John won the best song at the Golden Globes, so he may win best song instead? Sadly Im with the others I prefer Show Yourself to Into the Unknown. Too bad it didnt get the nomination.

Never liked Let It Go. I'm a fan of Disney music. But there was just something about Let It Go I never got into. Into the Unknown is one I genuinely liked. Show Yourself is the second best.

Into the Unknown is overhyped
I like Show Yourself better because it has a LOT more emotion poured into it, I guess that's why Let It Go also worked so well
