The only things I knew were
1. Based off a Nicholas Sparks film.
2. Rachel McAdams and Ryan Gosling despised one another. Wow they are so good though.
3. The film is about dementia.
4. Ryan Gosling had to wear brown contacts in order to look like James Garner.
5. The director of this film has his own mother(Gena Rowlands)in the film as old Ally.

The biggest thing that always annoyed me was the height difference between the young couple and the old couple. There was quite a height difference between the young Allie and Noah and then not much for older Noah and Allie I know its not a big detail but still really annoyed me.

Ryan and Rachel didn't get along at all during the filming and he even wanted her off the script. The only other movie where the actors didn't get along, but the chemistry was good was in Dirty Dancing. Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey did not like each other.

They got Goslin to wear contacts but didn't get genetics right when choosing the actors for their children? I spent the whole film complaining about how a redhead and a blonde can't have black-haired kids, and they concentrated on Ryan Gosling's eyes?

I loved this movie, and it got me attracted to Ryan Gosling. The only thing I wish is that the actors playing them in old age looked more like the younger ones, esp. Ryan, who has a baby face much different from James Garner's.

Wow, Rachel and Ryan must be even more incredibly talented actors than we'd thought, if they created sizzling chemistry onscreen, despite not initially getting on in real life, though they did eventually date briefly.

My biggest issue with the film is the portrayal of Allyson Alzheimer's, and the very sloppy behavioral interventions. Yes, I know, suspension of disbelief. But I think more care could have been put into those scenes.

I loved this movie, but always thought that, as much as I love James Garner, I did not think the casting was right, Ryan Gosling and James Garner looked too different, it was distracting for me!

And if you read the book, Ally died and Noah DID NOT. There's a sequel called The Wedding and is about one of their kid's marriages. And also Noah thinks Ally came back to him as a swan.
