Jonny Cash fell in love with his soul mate. His first wife felt betrayed. What. People expect a unhappy couple stay together is healthy. Wrong. That's why I dislike idea religions. Because it forces people to suppress the heart.
I am from dysfunctional family. It effect the kids to. Best thing it made me take my time when dating. Two years, my partner and I dated before moving in together. Sadly, we can not marry. Our disability checks be cut. Yes, even people under 65 is out on disability benefits. It's not our fault society h a t e s born different, deformed adults.
Over whelming anxiety created from chronic harassment and bullying by employers and employees take a toll on the body. Karma is served. Now, tax payers has pay for me to live.
Lesson is, don't bullying others for what God did not give them. It's not our fault! Bullying over time create more health problems of the mind, mental, physical, and emotional.
Don't spoil your kids, or abandon them. Don't spoil, or abandon your kids emotions, physical needs, and mental needs. If so, adults is creating monsters called, sociopaths, Psychopaths, dark empaths ( co dependent with narcissist traits, and co dependents. Codependents is the only ones abuse themselves. But the rest abuse themselves and others. Religions teaches people to be unworthy to self. This is another abandonment. Religions is created by egoistic humans to put fear and control on others.

Another thing the film got wrong was the false implication that Elvis was the one that got Johnny hooked on pills.
It was a pretty sloppy move on the part of the writers, considering most people that knew Johnny personally and knew anything about his career have known all along that it was fiddle player Gordon Terry that got Johnny hooked on anphetamines.
And what's worse is, I've seen many Johnny fans over the years just blindly believe it because they saw it in the film. so they've pushed this as a fact.
That kind of ignorance is a bit embarrassing actually.
Especially in the eyes of those of us that actually care about those artists, and are well-read and researched on people like Johnny or Elvis.
Johnny himself said back in those early days Elvis was as straight as a person could get.
About the only thing he or most people saw Elvis take for energy was a cup of coffee or soda.
Johnny would never have co-signed on a script that unfairly implicated his friend, when it wasn't necessary.
I hope more JC fans out there that care to talk about the genesis of his pill addiction, at least try to act like they're a little more research than watching a film biopic.

Screenwriters: _okay gang, we need something to spice up the film a bit. _
History: _I've got just the thing! He drove a tractor off of a cliff and nearly died! _
Screenwriters: _ehhh thats not really spicy enough. I was thinking we could have him dramatically collapse on stage_
History: _but that didn't happen though. There are lots of other things that happened instead of the tractor incident. They're here in my notes! _ flips through pages
Screenwriters: _we're just going to use the falling down thing, even if it didn't really happen. Whats a biopic without a little fiction? _
History: while looking out the window bitterly, says: _mom and dad always said Hollywood would break my heart. Thats it. I'm going to culinary school. _

The big problem with this movie was that it put Johnny cash and life in an extremely unflattering light. Dont get me wrong he lived a troubled life but the film focuses way too much on the dark side and half of its not true. They make him out to be a damn idiot when he was SO much more than that. He was one of the most iconic bigger than life figures in the history of music. The film also is disgraceful to his first wife Vivian. Joaquin was brilliant tho no doubt

I hate how they romanticized Johnny & June. If you read the accounts by their son John Carter Cash & others. They were far from that. Johnny got June addicted to pills & JCC tells of how they had knock out drag out fights, how he was imbarressed by his parents & stayed over at friends houses to get away from it. How they fought & eanted divorced. How they where the best and worse for each other. It spoke of how aweful June actually was.

He talks about that house in his biography, this vid is wrong, the movie didnt make it up, he bought a lake house on a whim. The tractor scene is also accurate, he was not comminting suicide, he was arguing with his dad during thanksgiving just as the scene played out, read the biography plz because this vid is whats inaccurate. The conflicts with his father have also been accurately portrayed.
reply

Nope, he made Cash seem dark and tortured. Cash was a strong, proud man. Sure he had some struggles, but if you watch actual Cash live performances, youll see that Phoenix is is like a demonic Cash which is wrong, Cash was a man of God. Typical bs for Hollywood to take a good God loving man and portray him as dark and sinister.

Seeing footage of #2 would be nice but I've never seen the proposal except in the movie. Ginnifer Goodwin and Reese Witherspoon good or bad stuff I watch it anyway, just to see them. It seems like Ginnifer lost weight recently. She was better before.

the water incident is partially right. Its on video but in the actual video he asked for some water. He drank the water made a weird face looking in the cup. He dumps the cup then light a match dropping it on the water puddle and stomps it out.

You folks are 100% wrong about his dad. Don't read the watered down late 90s autobiography, read the one that was published after 2000. Johnny is painfully honest and his descriptions of his dad match the movie portrayal pretty well.
reply

Also left out that his first wife was Black and pasding but the KKK terrorized and threatened them and Johnny's management team let him know that his marriage to such a woman would destroy his career.
reply

Yeah I can say one biiiig thing that set me off from the film being a true Johnny cash fan was how they attack his dad like he was abusive he was actually really close to his parents especially his mom.
reply

I dislike the exclusion (or lack of focus) of the Statler Brothers. Or how the story didnt go far enough to include Luther Perkins death, which happened 6 months after the movie ends, I believe

In his book Man in Black, John does describe finding his house after passing out. This says the screen writers made it up. The book, written a long time ago, told it just this way. Idk.

This show was a disaster. Vivian Lombardo should have sued for all the mistruthes. Such a shame. John and June where a sham. The only good and devout person was Vivian.
reply

Vivian. had African ancestry so. I am not sure how they could have gotten the casting for her so wrong. For that reason, I can't take this movie seriously. It just feels off.
reply

I personally will not watch this. I loved the movie & dont want to know what's wrong with it. its a movie for entertainment. except for River not winning an Oscar it was great
reply

Wow most of the movie was wrong then, very disappointed, if this is correct that is. One of the best acting jobs in movies IMO though. Great acting jobs by both stars
reply

If they made a movie of Johnny and Elvis, why haven't they made a movie of Marty Robbins? His life was more interesting than either Elvis' of Johnny's.
reply

His portrayal of cash was comical at best. I also had a hard time watching it knowing that cash was well over 6' tall and Phoenix is 5'5 at best
reply

June Carter did not write Ring of Fire, Johnny did. He gave her the credit though because he felt sorry for June because she needed the money.
reply

Joaquin Phoenix's best role is NOT the Joker, it's Johnny Cash.
He didn't have to go so hard in this role, but he did and it paid off.

reply

Roseanne Cash was on a genealogy show. They addressed the allegation Johnny married a woman who is part black. The DNA work confirmed it.
reply

The real life June was quite homely but she and Johnny were really in sync with their lifestyles together! They really loved each other!
reply

Fact -June Carter was a home wrecker who relentlessly pursued Johnny Cash till he married her after leaving his wife and four daughters
reply

This film was so much better than the elvis one they just rolled out. This movie had some substance and EARNED dramatic moments
reply

Please watch Dear Vivian. Great documentary about their love story. Vivian wrote the book Walk The Line The song was about Vivian.
reply

I live 15 mins from where John crawled into nick-a-jack cave and heard God. Thinking about giving his method a try. Without the pills
reply

We dont know what his dad was like only he knows
He might just act like his dad was good but we dont know what really happened

reply

A cool mention would have been that Shooter Jennings, son Waylon Jennings and Jessie Coulter, portrayed his father in the movie.
