This movie was phenomenal. I was impressed every single second of it. I think it actually benefited from the conditions of the pandemic in the best possible ways. I mean. If I allow myself to start I will no doubt go on a long-winded tangent about its utter brilliance and that of it's creator and crew so I'll just pre-edit myself right on outta here.
EDIT: One thing I will tack on here is that, and correct me if I'm totally wrong about this, the film felt very play-like, and I believe it's because of the lack of crew that allowed them to stage block it the way they do and I think it was an absolute blessing. That scene where malcom is weaving in and out of frame during that infinite monologue was some of the best acting and filming I've seen in a long time.

Malcolm & Marie was beautifully disturbing. Excellent writing, directing and cinematography. Mind-blowingly superb acting the likes of which we don't see much of anymore. It is heavy and hard to watch at times (it's quite triggering if you've ever been in a codependent, toxic relationship. However, it's worth it. To say it is powerful doesn't quite do it justice. Major respect to John David Washington and Zendaya.

It's definitely a long dramatic conversation piece but a good one. A gorgeous movie to watch. Now the bad. Could've been shorter, they definitely drank their own juice too much. There's one scene that's so fcking predictable, it was cringe. I can see an SNL spoof coming soon. Lol

Some of the people I know like it, I did! I told someone this script was culturally/racially/gender interchangeable, it couldve been any two people in that relationship and it wouldve worked! I felt like I was spying on their life! It was a very interesting movie!

I feel like once you know there's someone for you, once you know they love you, you never actually think of them again. It's not until you are about to lose someone that you finally pay attention. SO TRUE

I throughly enjoyed it. This can easily be a stage play. The actors were intense and brilliant in their roles. It took me back to my drama school days! Only criticism is that it was 20 mins too long.

I loved the movie. I how the movie was set in one house. The characters didn't really move. I loved how Malcom, and, Marie both went through a emotical arguement without breaking up so quickly.

And yet like so many of the other great films last and this year. it was snubbed. Im convinced Hollywood doesnt give a shit about originality, art or effort anymore. thank God for Netflix

Very intense scenes with an inconclusive ending. i wouldn't mind watching another sequel to this movie only if it was set in the future where both characters separate but reunite later

It was beautifully shot with impressive production design - but it was emotionally exhausting and very triggering - Malcolm didnt have to drag her like that though. I enjoyed it.

I cant believe an almost 2 hour movie of a couple going back and forth arguing would actually keep me interested from beginning to end. Just for that, good job to the cast and crew!

Kind of awesome how the same videographer worked with the Bella Thorne on The movie they mentioned in the end worked with Zendaya on euphoria and Malcolm and Marie
reply

Another fact. John David's sister, Katia Washington is also a producer of Malcolm and Marie. She was also a producer on Assassination Nation and Mr. Robot.

I thought it was alright! I think people are just hyping it up because Zendaya was in it. Just my opinion!
