Not all movie couples live happily ever after. Our countdown includes 500 Days of Summer, Blue Valentine, La La Land, and more! Which movie broke broke YOUR heart?

Gone With the Wind has a tragic relationship with Scarlett and Rhett. Rhett can suavely navigate society and do what he wants, due to his age, gender, and experience. Scarlett becomes him. She begins to flout societal standards, like Rhett, feeling independent and free, but she doesn't have the charisma to keep her place in society to ensure success for her children. Rhett and Scarlett can't be together because Rhett is asking too much of her without helping her.

Idk if anyone else knows this movie but it is about 2 women and it is called High Art. it made me cry at the end. but anything 90s with Leo always made me sob. Titanic gets me but more on the people who are based on real people who were on the ship. Ida and Isidor Straus (Older couple in the bed holding hands) makes me sob from then on just ugly tears.

This is the second time I have heard someone say that Rose should have made room for Jack (the first was on Fuller House, but they tried that. When they first get to the driftwood they both climb on but their combined weight causes it to start sinking. Jack climbs off so Rose can be saved

Moral of the story: If you want a hit movie, kill Leonardo DiCaprio.
And I know they were young and not an official couple (yet, but how could you not include Vada Sultenfuss and Thomas J. Sennett from My Girl? Thirty years later and I still can't watch that movie without ugly crying!

How can Tony and Maria from west side story not be on the list? They went through so much, only to have Tony die, and poor Maria is left living with the misery of losing her love, for the rest of her life. I love romeo and juliet, but that's a lot worse than both commiting suicide.

The notebook (she doesnt remember him at the end much)
Pearl Harbor (thinks he is dead, goes for his best friend)
Chemical hearts (she cant get over her exs death so he lets her go)
Tvd Caroline and Stefan

GONE WITH THE WIND BROKE ME, i know they were toxic but its not the fact that they didnt end up together, its the fact that with everything they went through THEY ONLY (REALLY) HAD EACHOTHER.

The only silver lining to Titanic is Rose dies an old lady at the end and is finally reunited with Jack. So technically they do get a happy ending it just took 84 years

A lot of the tragic couples here include death as the main reason why they aren't living happily ever after. How could they, when life was taken away from them?
reply

Honorable mentions to:
Nights in Rodanthe
P. S. I Love You (maybe this doesnt count since they married)
Me Before You
My Best friends Wedding

#4 That one time The Joker and Mysterio went camping in the mountains
#1 THERE WAS ROOM FOR 2 ON THAT PLANK
Where was Wonder Woman & Steve Trevor?

reply

They missed Cruel Intentions, Cairo Time, Edward Scissorhands, Autumn In New York, Sweet November, The English Patient, and Bridges of Madison County.
reply

I don't think Ironman and a walk to remember should've have been included. they got married and were together literally till death did them apart
reply

Uh. Scarlett O'Hara and Rhett Butler is way more toxic than anything else! Also. How does Leonardo keep getting stuck with the guys who die!
reply

The Last Five Years always gets me. Even though every song is about why the relationship is doomed I always get sad over Kathy and Jamie splitting up
reply

I liked all the movies listed in this video but I want to add one more couple in this list - Christopher Chris Gregory and Sam Peters = 2 Hearts
reply

Jack and Rose are overrated. They knew each other for three days and we're supposed to buy they're deeply in love/are soulmates? Come on.
reply

Why is Achilles and Briseis of Troy (2004) in this list? Sure they weren't the main couple in the movie but they eclipsed Helen and Paris.
reply

Except that it wasn't the fall that killed Gwen. It was Peter accidentally catching her, but snapping her neck in the process.
reply

I would have My Girl, Me and Earl and the Dying Girl, and, since you call it couple and not romance, Hachiko on top of the list.
reply

great list but La La Land needs to be #1 or #2. What about Forrest Gump? Of Course Titanic is on the list. How can it NOT be?
reply

i dont think im the only one when i say i wished laurie and jo got together in little women. like laurie and amy! no, thank you
reply

I think Five Feet Apart should also be pn this list it (along with The Fault In Our Stars) makes me cry every time
reply

Honestly thought R&J should be first. The others wouldn't exist without it. For some reason, though, Titanic trumps everything.
reply

For me i always love tragic love story because it realistic for me like. Sometimes the prince ends up with the wrong girl
reply

Titanic is my absolut favorite movie. I saw it more than 350 times. And I love Rose and Jack everytime a little more.
reply

#1. It wasn't lack of room on the debris, it was their combined weight that kept Jack from staying on the headboard
reply

2: 22 Molly cant see him, but hes there

reply

John Jack Sommersby/Horace Townsend & Laurel Sommersby in the 1993 film Sommersby. Gets me every time!
