I would never say Meeko & Flit, Scuttle, Maximus & Pascal were underrated lol.
I disagree when D animators actually wanted to remove CriKee, due to him being just a small insect. he proved to be much more than an unnecessary sidekick
BUT I DO agree with D that Victor, Hugo & Laverne should've been cut from Hunchback, simply bcuz they add fantastical & comic element to such dark & very realistic film. Movie would be better without gargoyles (or if they were just moving from time-to-time, no speaking)
I agree Zazu is underrated, and often overlooked character from Lion King, but then again he is the ONLY BIRD there in bunch of mammals, so I guess thats why he was forgotten
If you ask me, Pegasus should've been first. Despite being the most useful Disney horse, he is hardly seen anywhere. Its the only Disney flying horse to be featured as sidekick, cuz they weren't seen on screen since 1940 Fantasia (another question - why company never made unicorn sidekick)
Plus toy-makers made Pegasus only once in 1997 suitable for dolls, not even single time again after it. I guess its also due to Megara not being a D princess, but movie itself isn't that underrated. I really hope they will give it more love in upcoming years.

Sorry Mojo but, many of the choices on this list are actually popular. Just because they don't get as much love, attention, credit, and recognition doesn't necessarily mean they're underrated. I don't think you even understand what underrated actually means and what's actually considered underrated and what isn't. Sidekicks on this list such as Zazu, Crick-ee, Kronk, Pua, Maximus, Scuttle, Meeko, Ray, and the honorable mentions which are Rajah, Pegasus, and Figaro are loved and remembered by everyone. If I were you guys, I would've included Dr. Dawson from the Great Mouse Detective, Wilbur or Jake from the Rescuers Down Under, and especially Morph or B. E. N. from Treasure Planet instead (that's all I could think of at the top of my head, honestly. Those sidekicks are the ones who are actually underrated and rarely get any love, attention, credit, and recognition.

Zazu isn't a sidekick he is more like someone that runs around getting the news for the king to hear, along with being able to take the message back to those, Scuttle I wouldn't classify him as a sidekick more like a loveable character that isn't moved to sidekick status. Just saying it as I have seen it over the years and that is after a number of watchings of the movies

While I was hoping Iago was number 1 (especially due to the recent passing of Gilbert Gottfried, I will admit Ray is another face whose not as respected as much as everyone else in the film he's from. And yes, when he-SPOILER ALERT FOR THOSE WHO CARE--died, I shed a few tears.

I didn't like the gargoyles because they contradict the point that Quasimodo grew up completely isolated except the visits of Frollo and that's the reason he has a low self esteem. Here, he has three people telling him he is fine as he is. So why wouldn't he think screw you Frollo, my friends said you're wrong.

Zazu is one of my Favorite Sidekicks. He means well, but feels that the Leaders of Pride Rock should handle things differently.
Also, Mushus a Goof, but so enjoyable, if you ignore Mulan 2.
Also, Rays Death still hurts, no matter if you except it or not.

I think Evinrude from The Rescuers deserves more credit for his heroic deeds. He worked himself to exhaustion and outsmarted predators to give the signal that saved the day, yet he gets very little appreciation for his job well done.
