One moment that made me love the character of Sheldon is when he keeps Penny's secret in Season 2. Sheldon is alot of things, and one of them is loyal. Most of the things he does that make him unlikeable are either him being selfish or childish, but unless he says it in your face, he's not malicious or being a bad person, yet when he cares about a friend, he really means it. To the point where he's willing to leave his own apartment just for the sake of keeping a friend's secret.
Even by the second season, we know he's an obsessive person who wants nothing but full control in his life and everything around him. Yet he was willing to throw it all away while keeping a secret.
I don't know, i just think that moment truly made me think of Sheldon in a good light since the early stages of the show. And then you have him helping Penny's financial struggle without hesitation or care, or when he does the DnD with Bernadette in a way that makes her feel happy, or technically help Raj to stay in the U. S. He's just full of little things that make him just as much of a good friend as everyone else in the gang.

I don't know how I feel about Sheldon being called the best at anything as a few moments of not being totally terrible don't make up for how incredibly misogynistic, narcissistic and awful and selfish he is or for treating Amy like dirt 90% of the time when all she did was stuff for him, to make him happy. All the men on TBBT are pretty much garbage, I think, but there are some sitcom men who don't get everything handed to them and who show more respect, selflessness and kindness in a single scene than Sheldon does over twelve seasons and make MUCH better partners, such as Jake (B99, Chidi(The Good place) and Ben (Parks and Rec. Love msmojo vids, though.

I once told my sister that Sheldon was actually the most matured BBT character. Of course, he has annoying personalities like other characters, but he has many other redeeming qualities. He is independent (although he bullies his roommate, he could live alone if he needs to. He is full of confident and accepts in his own characteristic, unlike Leonard. He could cook, does his own laundry with detailed knowledge, plan his finances, pay his own taxes accordingly, and full of various knowledge. Most important, although he is condescending and not caring for others at times, he doesn't turn away when his friends are in trouble.

Nope. I can't take the misplacement of Sheldon's 2 best moments. All the moments with Amy were great but ultimately that's his wife so even before they reached that point he cared for her enough to do those things. That's easier for Sheldon than taking care of Penny when her arm was in a sling. That should be #2. #1 unquestionably has to be the series finale and his Nobel Prize speech where he finally shows true, pure humility and thanks all of his friends for helping him. That was Sheldon's biggest chance to gloat and talk about himself and he decided to share credit with them. That is truly Sheldon's best moment.

Gotta agree with the Nobel prize conundrum to be on top of list. I know Sheldon and Amy are officially together, but it just proved that Amy became a much important part of his life. Not only he proved his love to her, but also show how much he respect and admire her work/contribution. Even though Amy herself convinced Sheldon it's okay to go without her name on it, he insisted and reasoned that he only had the chance to win one because of her. If that's not unselfish or love then I don't know what it is.

Just because he's a great/interesting CHARACTER doesn't mean he's a nice PERSON. In fact, if anything, he's the character with the LEAST RELATABLE personality and objectives, even if you couldn't help but at least somewhat sympathize with some of the things that MADE him that way, as well as those times when he actually allows himself to acknowledge that he can be difficult to deal with a lot of the time, or that, in his own way, he does care for his family and friends.

He had some good moments, that much is clear, but (in my opinion) he was never the best character. He was mostly a self-absorbed scientist who had no problem down-trodding the accomplishments and feelings of his friends. And saying he doesn't understand never made sense because he always had a sense of empathy, he just didn't care. Even if he knew how it made others feel.

what makes his Nobel speech even more special is the fact he has the fear of public speaking. im guessing his original scripted speech would of eased his worries but he put that aside for his friends! must of been very nerve wrecking for him! .no wonder he looked so nervous but relived after his speech!

Even though I don't agree with the moments you have picked, I agree that sheldon is the best character in the show, otherwise it would have been a normal show and would have went unnoticed. Jim was phenomenal in portraying a very difficult character. He just lived as sheldon.

Mine is the one where Sheldon lends Penny money. He is very good at managing his money that he's able to lend a large amount and he doesn't care when he gets it back.
Leonard: It's one of his idiosyncrasies that make you NOT want to kill him

Asking penny not to hurt his friend ( Leonard ) when she thinks of breaking up with Leonard
Worrying that he may lose his roommate and trying to stop him from rhinitis/ sinusitis surgery
Worrying that Amy might be eaten by bobcat

You missed an important one. While starting the military project, sheldon was ready to give a major amount of his share towards the educational expenses for howard's child that was to be born. I believe that's a worthy one.

I think my favorite moment had to have been when he comforts Wolowitz after his mother dies by saying how he has friends to support him unlike him (that three time knock asking for a comment really was persuasive! hahaha.

My favorite Sheldon scene (not attached to Amy) was at his birthday party when he hides in the bathroom and Penny comes in. I always loved how their friendship developed.

The show wasn't just about Sheldon himself, it was also about how the other characters learned how to coexist with him. THAT'S the entertaining aspect of the show.

Sheldons speech was the Cherry on top for me. He will go down as one of my all time favorite characters in any show. And it definitely did not start that way

How about when Sheldon revised the contract of their project and gives a portion of the money he will receive to Howard's and Bernadette's future baby?

The ending of TBBT should've had Leonard winning the Nobel prize not Sheldon and Kripke singing at the wedding, in a normal voice.

While Sheldon can be a pain in the ass, he grows so much as a character, and actually cares about his family and friends.

I loved the ending. However, I wish somehow Penny got to sing Soft Kitty again at the end.
Those two were the best together
