Gloria's character was paramount to getting Jay to accept Mitchell and Cam's relationship, and getting him to be such a fleshed out character. I loved her throughout the entire series because she was often the voice of reason and actually said things we were thinking as an audience, but did it through her accent and misunderstanding of things that are so normalized in U. S. American culture. One of the best characters of modern sitcoms, for sure

The dramatic Quentin Tarantino camera angle joke from when Haley discovers how Gloria confiscated Gavin Sinclair's plant is so hilarious.
And interestingly, that camera angle was also used in the 2015 drama film See You In Valhalla (which stars Sarah Hyland) when the gang discovers the stolen body of their late brother from the morgue in the back of the car.

Gloria is one of the female characters in TV history. I will make my own Top 10 list soon and she will be on that. For modern Family: The Dunphy kids are all Perfect! Halle is also such a great character. Lily was great too. They were all Great. But Gloria is the Phoebe of the Show.

My favorite Gloria moment is when Jay is giving her a hard time for falling for Manny smooth talking father. Then he comes to there house and smooth talks Jay into falling for his line and then being let down just like she was years ago. Without the complications of a baby of course.

She shouts more than all the other characters put together. Not only does she become ridiculously angry over petty things, she sometimes shouts when she's not angry & there's no cause to. Only Jay says anything about her shouting & even then only a couple of times.
