This is one of my Favorite shows, if not THE FAVORITE, along now with Station 19! Been watching since Day One & my favorite story was line was the Izzy & Denny story line, I was devastated when he died & Ive always been a Fan of Katherine Heigel & Jeffrey Dean Morgan since then, we even named our little Beagle, Izzy, after her character on the show. I also was devastated when George died on the show because you get so attached to these characters that it is actually upsetting when they die, I prefer it for them just to leave like Sandra Oh character did. But by far the one that was the most upsetting was when they killed off Dr. McDreamy, Merediths Husband, it was heartbreaking! And I also love Meredith & Dr. Bailey, two very strong women, Meredith has been thru so much loss & trauma & Miranda Bailey is always there to be strong for whoever & whatever situation needs her. Great Show; love it!

The reason Izzy wasnt fired was because they didnt know who actually cut the wire, and when she confessed, she quite. What they do with any employee is at the hospitals discretion anyway. If they want to allow someone to come back on probation, they can do that. Not all hospitals tape your eyes shut. They usually only do that if the eyes are partially open after anesthetic is given. Ive woken up during surgery. It was weird. Not overly dramatic like that woman in that episode of Greys Anatomy. Anyone waking from anesthesia wouldnt be that alert! It was disorienting, and then I was back out again.

Also as a nurse, glad you mentioned the lack of nurses. I was in hospital the last time for almost ten days. I had a shoulder replacement. Unfortunately I had a big massive bleed. Which obviously led to needing a big transfusion. Then my blood pressure would not stay stable. So I was in the high dependency for two days until it was stabilised. Let's just day I had supreme care from the nurses at all time. I did see a doctor a couple of times due to my complicated problem. On the whole my needs and personal care was very much looked after by the nurses. Love those nurses.

Omg THANK YOU! Im so happy someone points out that the nurses do 80% of what the doctors on GA do. Its the first thing I point out to people when we are watching Greys anatomy. As someone with chronic health problems I cant even remember all the amazing nurses Ive had. And yet I cant nearly remember the doctors MUCH LESS surgeons. Nurses are superheros. I know the show focuses on surgeons and dont get me wrong I love GA its just such a huge misconception if all you have to go on is greys anatomy.

In Penny Blakes first episode at the hospital. Near the end of that episode Webber tells Meredith that he did not want her at the hospital as Meredith is having a hard time trying to teach Blake without memories coming up. However a few seasons down the line at Merediths trial to keep her license it is discovered that he went out of his way to make sure that she did do her residency at Seattle Grace. Every time i watch those two scenes it really bothers me

It's not that they don't show they have nurses, it's how they treat them. Other than OR nurse Boke, nurses aren't shown any respect. Today's nurses are generally Bachelor's prepared and a great resource, especially to interns and residents (Post graduate doctors or Pg's) Where I studied, clinically trained and later worked docs and nurses were more team members than superior/ subordinate.

A real hospital: employees would tattle on a person who cut a wire like that wether theyre friends or not. Knowing if they kept the secret too, theyd get fired and most likely sued and lose their license along with izzie! Izzie would of gotten sued and most likely go to prison, regardless if the person was a DNR or not. Tampering with medicine on purpose is likeyea most likely a felony

My water absolutely busted! I was induced, I went to the bathroom, as I was walking out, I heard/felt a pop and it splashed down my leg and all over the floor. My fiance was like didn't you just use the bathroom, did you pee all over? I told him my water broke and he said what! I thought that only happens in the movies. And he went and got a nurse. I gave birth 10 hours later

The number of times they (all medical shows really) put their stethoscope in the wrong way is something that really should be noticed. Even if you don't know how to listen for murmurs and things, surely even as the actor you must realise that you are hearing nothing (assuming they are using functional stethoscopes on set) when using it the wrong way around.

I think it's pretty odd that a lot of doctors are working with patients while they have their long hair down and not in a ponytail or something. And I've seen doctors with nailpolish. I don't know the rules in the USA. but here in The Netherlands it's forbidden to wear your long hair down and to wear nailpolish in healthcare.

Ive heard that McDreamy couldnt die actually. A CT scan after a (big) accident is procedure. Theyre obligated to do. Like dr. Mike said, its like you would operate without knowing what the real problem is. How he explains, I see it like a baker wouldnt use flower in its bread. It isnt only obligated, its also really necessary

What has always bugged me is Bailey's marriage. On season 2 she says she's celebrating 10 years, but she's, in what I think her second year, and based on other characters' ages, on her mid to late 20's which means she was on her mid to late teens when she got married. It sounds to me something very unlike Bailey

This is a show? How realistic do you think they can be? And average human beings arent doctors or do they care about the small details pointed out. This is a tv drama series. Its more about relationships and friendships. Like the fact it took 4 seasons for Meredith and Derrick to figure out their lives. lol

You mentioned the earrings in the OR, Im more annoyed by the UNCOVERED hair in the OR. Most of the time you can see parts if not huge sections of hair poking out from under the scrub caps. Mostly because theyre for men without a lot of hair and women use bigger bouffants that actually cover all the hair.

One that stands out to me is that after the plane crash, Meredith and Christina found Derrick near a flowing creek. Fast forward to Christina in the bathtub telling Owen that at the crash scene she had to drink her own pee. Why, when there was a nearby water source?

I work with anesthesiologists. Never once has anyone in the OR had to take off earrings or even lanyards with ID badges on them.
You also forgot the episode Cristina was operating and the blood on her mask changes every time the camera angle changes.

As I have seen the sad Derek shepherd death. when meredith blames the lady doctor that arrives at her house why does she not ever mention that she fought for a ct and also she never mentioned that the brain doc was hours late ffs. Big screw up in the story.

Ophthalmologist here. If the eyes are closed, there's no need to tape them shut. The lids are the natural protection to the corneal surface, so unless the eyes are wide or partially open after anesthetic induction, there's no need to use tape to close the lids.

You forgot that time when we first met dr. Teddy Altman. Her hair was hanging straight over the patients open chest. In real life you are supposed to tie your hair up, not letting it hang over the patient. Especially a patient with an open wound.

I love Grey's but I am aware it's one of the many medical dramas that has caused people to believe doctors do it all. As a medical technologist, I really wish these shows depicted medicine/healthcare accurately but I guess reality is too boring.

The main thing I notice is how at the beginning the residents are in charge but then later the attendings are in charge. And how at the beginning everyone does everything but later in the series they stick to their specialities more

Sorry Ms Mojo, but as a Labor and delivery nurse I did witness a patients water break, but she was in bed and it was like a water balloon hitting the floor. Thats now how I describe to patients what May happen.

They use a not invasive blood pressure and he updates every single second and you can see the pressure falling down. Its not possible wirhout an arterial catheter. As nurse in anasthesia its really hard to accept

Yes, thanks for info about nurses. In Poland 90% of those things shown in Greys Anatomy concerning patient help are done by nurses not doctors. Thank you for that comment that in the USA is the same.

Wow these mistakes are real tiny & we tend to ignore while watching it. I still dont understand that why the characters still mention Joes bar in season 19 but dont show the character Joe anymore.

Other than the doctors doing the nurses jobs, they also do the jobs of therapistsphysical, occupational, and speech. They apparently dont need therapists in this hospital as the surgeons do it all!

honestly its a tv show, sure its a little bit unrealistic thats gunna happen in the tv world for the drama aspect. If it was too realistic it wouldnt be as interesting, at least in my opinion.
