It's hard to believe these clothing stores don't exist anymore. For this list, well be looking at our favorite former retailers that sadly closed up shop. Our countdown includes Barneys New York, Mervyn's, The Limited, and more! Which clothing store do YOU wish would come back?

It's always the same way, where ever you live in any country, you favourite clothes store, always disappears in the end. I now buy from mail order people or my large local supermarket, rarely do I risk buying clothes elsewhere because this always happens. I'm from the UK, one shop I used to use disappeared because it belong to a big company called Arcadia, whose entire empire collapsed. One other one went online and now sells expensive fast fashion junk. So it's more reliable sources for me, however one of them has so declined in quality, I haven't brought anything off them in months. This is all so sad. Added to that some of my most favourite old clothes, come from a shop that left the UK years ago and went back to the continent, C&A.

So many of these retailers lost their quality of time. Why spent $15 on a shirt that you have to layer because it's too thin? Or $20 on a dress that will come apart after 3-4 washes? Fast Fashion isn't sustainable. I'd rather buy high quality vintage clothes for twice the price and have them last me for 10+ years.

I have never heard of most of those stores, as a Canadian we didn't have any of those here except Espirt.
But up here we had a big clothing store called Zellers that was bought out by Target. We also had one called Woolco which was bought by Walmart and that's how they expanded into Canada.

It frustrates me to death that people always rely on online shopping.
I mean I'm glad that online shopping exists but does it always have to be relied upon?
Actually being there is more of a fun experience rather than browsing through your dang computer can't anybody realize that? :(

Im mexican and I remember how excited I was when I traveled to USA because I was going to buy my clothes in Limited Too. Then when it changed to Justice, my sister was excited to buy her clothes there
I grew up with Limited Too and my sister grew up with Justice

Wet Seal - I used to work there in college I did well, there but I refused to come in during a snow storm - and they fired me even though a half n hour later the mall was closed down because of the storm - so a hearty ha! Ha! Karma to them

Who could forget Delias, The Limited, and Wet Seal?
I never shopped at these stores but they were so popular when I was in middle school & HS. I also remember The Limited 2 and
Justice, but I was an adult by then.

The store I miss the most is DEBs -- they weren't a major retailer, but they were one of the only options for cute and trendy plus-size clothes that I loooooved as a teen. They even had prom dresses under $100 in all sizes!

I miss Dayton's. I loved wandering around the flagship store in downtown Minneapolis when I was little. It represented Christmas magic to me as a kid. Even their mall locations were always the fanciest store in the area.

The limited did not deserve to go out of business they were really nice! I had no idea they were having problems I went to the mall and then literally found out that they were out of business!

Filenes was the stores all suburban moms love going to back in the 90s. I used to go to The Limited way back in the early 00s. I loved The Limited clothes back then but they were a bit pricy.

Arden B for fun times hanging out and The Limited for work clothes. Now we are left with crappy Shein and the quality of Zara has gone down significantly. Where do shop these days?
reply

I really miss DEB Shops having brick and mortar stores. Their plus size selection was amazing. I also got all of my school dance dresses there. Im still glad they exist online though.

I wore limited too clothing during my middle school years and wet seal as well. I also remember shopping at Robinsons may with my mom and hiding in the clothing racks.

I worked my way through college at barney's. I love going out shopping. I can't get used to online shopping not feeling the merchandise. Sad to see stores bite the dust

Was the sound messed up for anyone else? Like the clips of the clothing stores and stuff were normal but then while Samantha was talking it was super low
reply

My friends and I used to shop at Filene's basement. Except on the days when they did the wedding dress sales. Because we didn't want to, y'know, die.

I must have either lived under a rock, or too broke, or they didn't come to the Buffalo NY area, cause all but 3 of these, I have never heard of.

If you go into a retail shop please treat it with respect. Dont trash it/mess it up and please treat the associates like people.

Im honestly kinda surprised they went with a name like Wet Seal. It sounds like the name of an adult toy store.
