I believe I mentioned in a previous comment on this video that I was watching the entire series of the grassy the Next Generation from start to finish. When Degrassi the Next Generation was originally on. I kind of fell off of watching it somewhere between season 7 and season 8. Now I'm watching the entire series start to finish on HBO Max. While trying to do more research on the character of Dave I discovered that the actor who played him Jahmil French passed away on March 1st of 2021 at the age of 29. Obviously I was curious as to how he died at such a young age but no matter where I look I can't seem to find any information on his cause of death at all. Obviously that is understandable. sometimes the world doesn't need to know everything. no matter whether it's dealing with a famous person or not. Honestly I think it's wonderful that the family has not allowed his cause of death to get out to the public. that feels so respectful to me. not a lot of families would do that and even when some family members of a famous person who passes away try really hard not to let a cause of death get out to the public they are not successful. someone somewhere leaks something. Rest in peace my love and prayers go out to your family!
Question for anyone who may have tried to find a cause of death. did you run into the same situation I did? Or did somebody somewhere let something leak and it is just hard to find? I really hope not I really hope his cause of death always remains as private as possible.

To my recollection, several of these storylines happened so close to the last season of Degrassi that I feel like they maybe would've done more to further them/finish up those storylines in future episodes, had there been more future episodes.
And with the two storylines where nothing bad happened to the bully teacher and no real consequences happened to the boys who physically ganged up on and attacked Jane (because they didn't want her on the boys team, I personally believe that that was the point that the writers of Degrassi were trying to drive home; that unfortunately bullies do sometimes get away scott free, especially in scenarios where the bully/bullies are someone(s) in a position of authority (such as a teacher) or in scenarios where gender biases/discrimination is involved such as when Jane gets jumped by those boys for daring to go against the norm and join the boys football team. Anyhow just my opinion. But also yes Degrassi was bad about just black holing characters, lol. It always bothered me that the last thing we ever heard about Terry was that she was in a coma from Rick's abuse, and then we never find out anything else! Like seriously! Did she ever awaken from the coma? Did she wind up dying? Ugh so many unanswered questions regarding what happened to Terry.

To I was never satisfied with Johny DiMarco story line with j. t. Murder he witness his murder some random dude for no reason went on run with him for at east couple min he was murder suspect for bit too because all Liberty told she saw Johnny and Drake fleeing the scene. The fact the never found how cop figures it was Drake and not Jonny never was told. Mostly Johnny turn himself him and rat out Drake to save his skin. It all look he never got any trouble and charge as
accomplice so he most help the cop telling what and maybe even where to find Drake I always want to know what went down with that. Then he forced to go the school of kid that his was murder where he was instantly was villainize for part of j. t. Murder. The actress who played Alex went on to earn a PhD in Psychology and is now working in Psych research at Ryerson university. I like to think that Alex made it, too! What bothers me about Alex' other main story line (where she takes a job str! pping because her mother's bf runs up her credit card) is that in real life, they could have gotten a consumer proposal and paid off the credit card, and they would have gone to court and made a deal to catch up with the rent rather than being evicted. I guess the process of catching up financially is much less dramatic than freaking out about a job at a strip club, though! Jane's football storyline does get a bit of resolution when the coach guy (Skip) is supposed to win a Principal award and the whole school walks out, starting with the football team.

The teacher one is actually very true-to-life. I know; my daughter lived it. She had a terrible abusive teacher. Not just to our girl, but many various students over the years. We ended up having a meeting with him, my husband, me, my daughter & the principal about it. Not only was nothing done, but he retired at the end of that year & has a hallway named after him.
As for #1, most of them can be summed up with Graduated & moved on. People like Kendra, Blue & Wesley. not so much.
I strongly disagree with Claire's cancer. I thought that, considering we're talking about a 1/2-hour teen show, they covered it TOO much.
As for Alex, sad as it is, not everyone has a happy ending.

I've been in a situation similar to #8 (was mistreated by a teacher similar to the way Perino treated Danny and Derek. Unfortunately, the ending of that arc was pretty much what happened, just slightly different. That teacher for me retired just after having me as a student, but the school put a sign up with his name on it in the science wing. I'm still really upset about that, but it seems to be common (oh yeah, I don't remember if Perino had this in this arc, but the teacher that mistreated me was also really popular. So not a lot of people at school believed me when I told them I was being mistreated aside from a few.

Ik this rlly isnt a plot point but something that didnt sit well with me and goes along with a lot of sibling disappearances(Kenya, Darcy etc) In the episode of Emma and Spinners wedding you see Liberty show up and the first person to great her is Peter not even her brother Danny and they dont talk at all nor does he introduce his girlfriend Chantay to his sister? Lol it seems like they forget a lot about sibling interactions on the show or that they had a brother or sister in the first place

I have season 4 on DVD and there is a deleted scene that explains what happened to Terri: the day Rick comes back to the school, two of the characters (I think Paige and Spinner) go to Mr. Raditch's office to voice their concerns about it. During the conversation, Mr. Raditch mentions Terri and says that she has since transferred to another school. They should have kept that scene in the episode, at least then there would have been no question about what became of Terri.

There is a very important story that did not get mentioned on this list. And it was from the very first episode of next generation when Emma meets that silk called 16-year-old that shes chatting with online. But hes a predator instead of didnt get to see any of that going to trial and with the outcome list. That should be one of them mean ones that come to mine. Especially thats when we were introduced to Emma, JT, and Manny.

it sucks that Esme wasn't more focused on. she was such a vital part of season 3 and the start of those signs that something was up with her.
we need to give the writers the benefit of the doubt. season 3 next class was a brilliant story focused on Maya, and brought Esme into the story more. but to just leave her like that and to not even be on the montages ending. smh.

How about when Fiona got robbed at gun point and then tried to buy a gun (legally and illegally) for defense. Her graduation was a couple episodes later with no resolution whatsoever.
DTNG also kinda dropped the ball on Maya taking legal action on Zoe for the facerange page. Her mom and her said they'd do it and then never followed up.

I don't know about everyone else, but I'll never get over Terri just disappearing from the show. Especially when you consider how her storyline with Rick was a major focus of the season. Then she just recovers and moves schools. Like I would've thought she'd come back after Rick's death or SOMETHING at least just for closure

Chris was exactly like Kendra. The same intro with no credit, stayed for like 2 season after that slowly being written off, & never mentioned again. They were just there to be inclusive, a black boy & adopted/asian girl. They ruined their character chances & development, they would've been awesome if they wrote them good tbh.

I'll never understand how Esme didn't graduate. She was top of her class but after her and Zig found Maya she starts spiraling. But how did she spiral so much that all her hard work during her first 3 years in HS didn't matter because of 1 bad school year. Doesn't make sense to me

Emma You gave me a social disease Nelson does suffer consequences from the Ravine. The whole school finds out about it, her ex Chris Sharpe makes fun of her for it. Sean Cameron is so shocked that it almost causes them to break up again. I would say she definitely suffered.

I feel like Degrassi TNG should have ended after season 9 because thats when all of the OG cast left. Season 9 also takes place in 2009, so it would have been a perfect place to end the 2000s. Then, they could have created a new series that focuses on the 2010s

It has always bugged me that Emma has the episodes where she is suffering from anorexia/bulimia and that is only mentioned one other time in a later episode by Sean. You don't just get over a disorder like that. I wish they had revisited it in the show.

Man, that Terri plothole still haunts me until this day and definitely deserved it's spot on the list. It was crazy to me that her abuser was on the show for several more seasons without little explanation of Terri's fate. She deserves better #justiceforTerri

I feel like a forgot storyline that shouldve been included was the degrassi nudes storyline. We never find out what happened to Zoe with that matter, they did one episode of her doing community service but we never hear about it again from there on out.

I feel like they didnt forget storylinesI think they left doors open so that they had the option of bringing those storylines/characters back up at a later time if they wanted. I would have love to see each of these played out more!

Poor Hazel never got any storylines. Terri never got to fully develop her character. I would have liked to see what happened with Jimmy, Craig, Ellie, Paige, and Alex. As original members I feel like they shouldve got proper endings.

I know it might be a stretch, but what about Spinner's dad? He talks about him in season 2 but then suddenly in season 7 it's mentioned that he died of cancer, yet there was no mention of that with Spinner's character development?

Im going to go way out on a limb and guess Clares case against Asher was dismissed. Unfortunately while some companies will pay off witnesses, I gather this one mustve gotten their big, strong lawyers involved and shut them up/down.

The show really went down the drain when the wrote off the last of the original characters. They really need to bring back the OG cast members like Emma, Spinner, Jimmy, etc for it to have some chance at success

There is the Degrassi ndes thing Zoe started. S14B she talked with Tristan about be on trial awaiting sentencing. And meeting with lawyers. Then its forgotten about after the episode when she works in the cafe.

They did the same thing on the original Degrassi junior high. Who remembers Voula? She was there for like half the first season, and then she just disappeared with no mention of her ever again.

They also didn't adress Paige's anxiety/ panic attacks. Could've at least shown her going to the doctor or psychiatrist and getting medication or going to therapy. Anxiety doesn't just go away.
