These actors got their accents down perfectly! For this list, well be looking at movie performances in which actors portrayed real-life people and perfectly captured their speech patterns. Our countdown includes Elvis, Darkest Hour, The Aviator, and more! Which actor do YOU think nailed their accents?

Forrest Whittaker as Idi Amin? Come on. Not even close to the man's voice. Elvis was and is the most well known celebrity on the planet. Austin Butler nailed the speaking voice of Elvis through the years, and did all of the singing through 1960! After that, the voice of Elvis and Austin were blended. I know both Elvis' speaking and singing voice well, and I could close my eyes during the movie and not know the difference at all! Perhaps you need to do a bit more research. Ben Kingsley had a daunting role, and did a fabulous job, so I'll give you that, but Forrest Whitiker should have been toward the bottom of your list!

Where is this list of TV shows. You say that list of it's own line a lot but you rarely (if ever) link to such a list that you suggest in the description. Let's have it, if you will. I know you didn't claim to have one but I don't like you suggesting it without you either providing a link to it or claiming you are actually working on it. -Don't think you are actually inspiring people to do what you are already doing by themselves. YOU are NOT!

Pardon me, but how do we know what Mr. Northup sounded like? I am honestly curious about this and I mean no offense to the actor portraying him (I am not going to try and spell his name)
For the majority of the rest of the list, I could close my eyes and not be able to differentiate between the actual person and the actor/actress portraying them.

Do you seriously think it's that hard for an artist? I can also deliver a British accent having spoken to many Brits and their arrogance in imposing their accent as the only correct statement. With so many videos of real persons, you can't imitate it. Artists are chameleons and that's their job.

Great job as usual but i believe some even greater accent strong performances are missing and could probably be considered to be better than some of these especially in the cases where we have no idea of what the person may have sounded like ( e. g. 12 years a slave. However, keep up the good work.

MY GOD Jamie as Ray, Christian as Cheney, and Philip as Capote should have been higher
Also why aren't James Franco's performances as James Dean and Aron Ralston and (I can't believe I'm saying this) even Tommy fricking Wiseau not on this list?
Agree with the #1 though

Helen Mirren as QUeen Elizabeth in THE QUEEN, as well as Claire Foy, Olivia Colman and now Imelda Staunton as again the Queen in THE CROWN. They might not look exactly like Elizabeth, but they speak exactly like she used to!

Forest Whitaker won an Oscar the following year. But just saying winning multiple lead actor awards makes it seem like it was some random award he won. Hmmmm but with everyone else the Oscar was specifically mentioned.

Honestly, no disrespect to any of them. most are just amazing acting. Austin Butler as Elvis. his own daughter didn't know if it was her father or Austin singing. Every other actor is fantastic but does not even compare

alot of aussies thought that lindy chamberlain was a born/bred aussie so thought meryls aussie accent was terrible not realising that lindy had a mongrel nz/aussie accent which many people would find hard to mimic

Almost all the entries in this list were Oscar-winning performances. It shows how much effort actors put into taking responsibility. It would be fun to see which actors failed in portraying a famous character.

Forgot one person & that's someone that if watched the movie now, wouldn't know what the real person was like think they were. Sissy Spacek doing & singing Loretta Lynn's auto biography Coal Miner's Daughter.

Austin Butler did a fantastic job as Elvis. He deserves an Oscar for this performance. The fact that Lisa Marie and Priscilla have praised this performance says everything. Austin truly became Elvis

I would give a shout out to Tom Hiddleston as Hank Williams, when I listen to the songs from I saw the light and the real Hank Williams back to back, it does really sound like the same track!
reply

Johnny Depp as J. M. Barrie in Finding Neverland absolutely should have been on here. Scottish accents are difficult enough, but even locals couldn't tell that his accent was fake. Amazing.
reply

James Corden's portrayal as 2007 winner of Britain's Got Talent and Operatic Singer, Paul Potts, was pretty good. I'm surprised he wasn't mentioned in honorable mentions.
reply

I havent watched Jackie but I did watch a video of Jackie Kennedy and Natalie Portman as Jackie with scenes side by side and it was really accurate. She nailed the accent.
reply

Forest Whitaker as Edi-Amin scared the crap outta me. He lost himself so deep in the role that I forgot he was an American. The Last King of Scotland was an awesome movie.
reply

Butler was just another ELVIS IMPERSONATOR and isnt very good and definitely NOT BELIEVABLE! I dont understand how anyone buys his ELVIS ACCENT OR BEHAVIOUR. HE SUCKS!
reply

Philip Seymore Hoffman sounds exacly like the man he's playing but to do the accent seems no more difficult than just mocking someone by repeating their words.
reply

I'm so glad you show the amount of work actors put into getting their roles right because every time somebody says acting is easy, I just want to scream.
reply

This list should have been 20, you missed so many. Joaquin Phoenix as Johnny Cash, Michelle Williams as Marilyn Monroe, Sandra Bullock in The Blindside.
reply

Remy M's vocal work and stage performances were on par. very good. but the film sucked, until the end scene. Rocket Man was a WAY better rockumentary.
reply

I do over 75 impressions many of which are Golden Age Hollywood stars and many politicians including all American Presidents from JFK to Joe Biden!
reply

You missed Dev Patel in Lion. Australians were astonished and thrilled to hear the best Aussie accent by a non-Australian ever. It was superb.
reply

This might sound crazy but I feel Forrest Whitaker is still a underrated and unappreciated actor, we have to give him all his flowers
reply

Though it was only an honorable mention I was so happy to the Temple Grandon on this list. She did an amazing job portraying Temple!
reply

Rami as Freddie
Austin as Elvis
Taron as Elton john
Jennifer as selena
KJ as Jeremy Camp
We're always my favorites

reply

Just saw Elvis last week I think Austin did an amazing job as Elvis. I positive he will be nominated at the Oscar's next year.
reply

Wow no Charlize Theron on this list, who many say gave one of (if not) the greatest performance ever on film. Do your homework.
