I have always loved dancing and was quite a good dancer in my younger days (now 70) of various types. Would have loved to have lessons but my parents couldn't afford it. Would have also loved ice skating lessons but same reason I didn't have any. I have been to see Lord of the Dance and Riverdance, the former with Michael Flatley. Any dancing takes a lot of talent, dedication hard work and practice. Irish dancing, when done right as in Lord of the Dance for example sounds like one person. I can watch all these dance movies for hours and never get bored.

Evidently no one responsible for this video has ever heard of Georgian (NOT the US state) dancing. There are at least three moves that the men do that blow away all the contenders here, including landing on the knees ) and bouncing back up, dancing on the toes and spinning like a top (that's men dancing on their toes) and a sword fight dance done with metal swords, and I've seen dancers wounded while dancing. Just saying.
Watch this video: Erisioni Finale

I remember my mom and I were at a grocery store when I was around 8, and while we were waiting in line, I was doing some little foot movements. My mom looked stunned and asked where I learned it from. I didnt know what she was talking about because I was just tapping my feet. Apparently, I have the natural ability to clog. The double step took others training to learn I just did it naturally, lol.
Clogging came very easy.

and id like to see you try throwing a baton spinning in the air, doing a double spin illusion (or harder) and catch (any style catch) without getting a black eye or concussion
I think Baton twirling should be on here not only you are controlling your body you are also controlling a spinning metal stick (before any comments I'm an ex-baton twirler, thinking of returning, who has competed nationally in the UK)

I love that a lot different dance styles are a part of the video and I love Irish Dancing, Tap Dancing and Break Dancing are giving the recognition they deserve and it is a fact Ballet Dancing especially Classical Ballet have some of hardest dance moves and I love how a trained ballet dancer make it look so easy it isn't the dancers have to be strong, elegant, graceful and skilled to do the moves.

Grand adage is torture in ballet, the amount of lower body strength, core strength, and balance necessary is crazy. I did ballet for 9 years before quitting and though it looked pretty, I guarantee that I broke a sweat and smiled through the pain every time. I still dance. Im doing more contemporary and modern dance and my ballet background does help with a lot, but theres always more to learn.

Not really seeing #19 as a dance move--a gymnastics pose, yeah, but it looks like it would pretty much bring any actual dance routine to a dead stop especially as we don't actually see any actual dancing before or after the move. Additionally, it doesn't really seem that hard when you consider that pretty much every female skater HAS to do that during a standard routine.

I had a friend in high school that could do the worm and I was so jealous because I thought it was hilarious. During drama class she would try to teach me and one day I stayed home from school and practiced and practiced until I finally got it. That night we had a drama performance and I couldnt wait to show her that I had finally got it.

Im disappointed that most of the moves were from ballet and hip-hop.
I would like to see some of the ballroom and traditional styles.
Think Dancing With The Stars or
So You Think You Can Dance as are many of the Latin dances: tango, pasa doble, so many from these genres.
The rhumba seems difficult

reply

Ballroom/traditional dancer here, sooo for Latin that was very hard true but a true dancer will tell you that THE BASICS are the hardest one to master, there are special difficult moves but the basics you will train all of your life and the teacher will still look at you up and down and say again T_T

Some of the hardest dance moves is in flamenco from Spain, solea, seguirillas, Tarantos, bulerias called palos. It's having great compass rhythm musicality technique, foot technique and arms and culture. Check out bug names Sara Baras Antonio Gades, the great Carmen Amaya, and others Missing here.
reply

I challenge all the great dancers in that video to do an Argenting Tango forward man woman backward walk in close embrace (touching chest to chest. they'll drop their ballet tricks to the easy list, it takes minimum 10 years to mediocrely master it and it is never mastered enough
reply

Adage is so much harder than the Grande' Jete. and as adage contains most of these moves over a period of a few minutes, I would put it at the top of the list. Oh, and on the fouette - the best ballerinas double up on some of them in the Swan Lake Odile variation.

As a former professional dancer for over 25 years my specialty was spinning for quite a lot at different speeds and over the main part of the stage. I've done this for as long as nearly 8 minutes with my double circle cape for my white tornado finish

Honestly, I've done some Irish step dance and some scottish reels, and to be honest, scottish reels are harder. Irish step dance ain't to bad, I've seen a friend do it, and she's over a hundred and is missing part of her legs.

I was expecting the Moonwalk to be here. I'm not saying Top 10, but at least in the upper teens. When Michael Jackson first did that, the whole audience was stunned. It's harder than one thinks to make it look fluid & effortless.
reply

The cabriole was the most difficult move I had to learn in ballet, and still I never mastered it before I was forced to quit. I always thought of this move as being very technical and elegant it is one of my favorites to watch.
reply

a doll dance isn't really dancing, don't care what people think. I will say more like weight training(since little areas on ur body have to hold your body while spinning! also doing basic splits while standing isn't dancing!
reply

For anyone that thinks tap is easy, just remember you are on slick floors on shoes with polished steel bottoms. The number of times I have seen kids in tap class wipe out, HARD. It is not easy moving quickly on those shoes.
reply

Flair isn't a dance move. Flair means done with style and originality. To call all breakdancers that do pommel horse like moves as flair would be incorrect. Flair can be achieved in more than just breakdancing and gymnastics.
reply

I have ALWAYS had great admiration and respect for good dancers. Good musicians & singers can hear a song and repeat it (often) while a good dancer can see a series of movements/steps and repeat them. I don't know how.
reply

Loved both, however it would be awesome to have a video highlighting difficult and impressive feats in non-Western dance styles. None of your videos include anything from non-European origins. and that is sad
reply

Hmm. She didnt mention that the ballerinas are doing all this while supporting their weight on what, when your foot is flat on the floor, is the FRONT of your BIG TOE! I can only do that in the swimming pool
reply

I have to disagree with most of this list. As a ballet dancer, carbioles are much harder that jetes and some of the tap moves that were shown are for beginners. Many of the are hard but not that hard
reply

I love the inclusion of Irish dance, but may I suggest finding an actual move maybe? Like maybe give birdies their own section instead of just lumping them in with a completely unrelated tap move?
reply

Paddle and roll aka paradiddles arent that hard, however the shuffle pullbacks they were paired with definitely are. Penchees and cabriolets are way harder than jetes. And wheres the 540?
reply

Actually all the tap dancing moves that you showed I can do a couple only a couple of the break dance movies I can do none of the ballet moves can I do and I'm 69
reply

Having my parents drag my ass to Riverdance when I was a kid was a goddamn _revelation. _ I was enthralled from start to finish, couldn't believe what I was seeing.
reply

U cant just put anentire genre of dance as a certaing hard dance move. Saying rish dance as number 20 is like saying that ballet is the hardest dance move ever
reply

Wow, wow and just wow. As a wish I could have been on this level dance, I just loved this. It never gets old looking at what makes dance amazing.
