You know, Brittany Spears' Everytime made a comeback for me, when I, since I'm English, went to see the UK English dub version Argentine animated film, Metagol (or in its English titles; Underdogs in U. S. and The Unbeatables in the UK) at the cinema. And after my sister and I came out, I had the song in my head and somehow, just in the wrong place at the wrong time, broke down crying, due to the fact it would be my last cinema outing before me, my family and our neighbours from across the road, went on our third holiday to Orlando, Florida.

I get these songs, but there were some that were definitely not included. How do I live by LeAnn Rimes and Chord Overstreet's Hold On are two that I played a lot when I was losing my dog in 2020 and many times over these last 2 years after when missing him became too much and I had to let it out. I know Chord's song is not about losing a dog, but we had to take him to the vet to put him down and there was enough similarities with the lyrics that made it THE song I had to play it on repeat when missing him was really hurting.

So many sad songs but ronan never failed to not make me cry. That's the only song that can make my eyes bawl out along with Swift's safe and sound & tied together with a smile also Tears in heaven considering the background stories of these songs.
Candle in the wind, Think of Laura, Aubrey by Bread, I can't make you love me, bluer than blue, hiding inside myself - were great runner ups imagine by the beatles, linger, immortal, it will rain by bruno, stay were good heart wrenching songs

Plus, I have to add a song to these top pics and I'm shouting out to Secret Love Song by Little Mix and Drivers' License by Olivia Rodrigo.

This list is missing so much. when somebody loved me. Sarah McLachlan. literally anything from her. how I will always love you isn't on the list but just a shout out is insane. or my immortal.
Honestly, this should be a by decade list. you missed so much. Thumbs down on this one.

Kept hoping I'd see a song that I recognized. Didn't see one until Whitney, it was the only one I recognized at all, and that one just makes me want to cut my ears off. Why do so many singers have to SCREAM? And why do people like the screaming?
reply

Demi Lovato - for the love of a daughter
Lindsey lohan - confessions of a broken heart
Ashley tisdale - how do you love someone or what if
Are just tear wrecking.
They deserve to be in this list!

There are too many songs, but Viva forever by Spice Girls is the saddest one for me. Maybe because of nostalgia or maybe because of missing being a teenager (is it the same thing though.
reply

This list shows recency bias. Long long time, written by Gary B. White and sung, bone-chillingly, by the wonderful Linda Ronstadt, is almost impossible to listen to (and that's a compliment)
reply

For me a heartbreaking song is Pink's Who Knew. It makes me sad even when I watch the music video. Also I don't know if it's hearbreaking but Labrinth's Jealous comes to my mind too.
reply

I know I'm old and this song was probably never a 'hit', but the saddest song I know is Windows and Walls by Dan Fogelberg. It will make you want to call your mom, or grandma.
reply

Oh Father and Promise to try by Madonna deserve to be on here. Promise to try is about the loss of her mom at a young age, and Oh father talks about her abusive father
reply

This isnt even the most heartbreaking Christina Aguilera song, Im Ok is her most heartbreaking. Also, where is cant make you love me. By Bonnie Raitt?
reply

8: 20 Finally someone recognized this damn hard song from Kesha! Please please take y'all time to listen to this, because this was well made!
reply

Big Time Rush's Intermission and Jewel's You We're Meant For Me. are also heartbreaking songs that also needed to the honorable mentions
reply

Praying was the song that hit me hardest the most because I felt all of it in my past.
The song was a masterpiece of the soul.

reply

Ya missed Flower by Kylie Minogue. No other artist can have the moment of having the realization they cant conceive like her.
reply

As many huge songs MARIAH CAREY has that are worthy of being on this list she should be on this list, haters! Fr fr
reply

Whitney Houstons version of I Will Always Love You deserves more than an honorable mention! It should have been Numbrr 1!
reply

The disrespect by not pointing out I will always love you is originally a Dolly Parton song in the honourable mentions.
reply

I think Eric Clapton's if I saw you in heaven and Demi Lovato's dancing with the devil should be on this list
reply

I think Say something by Christina Aguilera, and Dancing on my own the cover by Calun Scott had to be here.
reply
