When Eleanor returned home from visiting Drea's house after making Drea dinner, I thought the part where Eleanor was looking at herself in the mirror and deliberately messes up her lipstick was reminiscent of when Cassie is putting on makeup and purposefully smudges her lipstick in Promising Young Woman. Not sure if Promising Young Woman counts as a teen movie, but it felt like a homage to the scene where Cassie is watching a makeup tutorial and then intentionally smudges her lipstick across her face with her thumb.

Did anyone think they deliberately added some Kill Bill references for Maya in the very beginning when they introduce her in the car? And even the way her hair is blowing when they are driving away at the end? I know that's not a teen movie but Kill Bill was about revenge and ultimately getting revenge on your creator. Drea in Do Revenge vs Bill in Kill Bill

Am I is the only one who feel like DreaTorres and Max are Blair and chuck in another universe? Sure, Drea is a lot poorer than Blair Waldorf but her mannerisms her scheming her unstoppable energy and sometimes even how she looks is very similar to Blair

I feel like the makeover of Eleanor was inspired or reference to the movie Jawbreaker. She looks just like the character Violet. The height, face features, and blonde short hair cut. And Drea dresses & acts like Courtney.

It had many Mean Girls references! One I dont see many people talking about is during the shroom fiasco, this girl calls her mom to pick her up just like the boy in mean girls who says mom can you pick me up? Im scared
reply

They sit in front of a water fountain like scream! And you forgot jawbreaker! Total jawbreaker vibes. In the makeover along with the fashion. She even says I created you I can destroy you, like Courtney!

i think u missed the refrences to the movie Jawbreaker. When drea completes the make up reveal on Elanor she looks just like vyolet did in her own makeover. . vyolet. learn it, live it, love it

Growing up in the 90s, I think that is why I enjoyed this movie very much. I was having flashbacks of various movies. I wonder if teens today would notice the references!

Probably more than a 100 different references in this movie but still a completely new storyline. A diamond for millennials and maybe even the older part from gen z?

and that one scene were Max is going on his knees after being exposed, it reminded me of Leonardo Di Caprios Romeo when he found out that Juliette killed herself.

THE MUSIC WAS SO GOOD! Olivia Rodrigo Brutal in the opening I C O N I C! and the song that plays during the paintball scene the song PRETEND BY JULIANA MADRID

My favorite reference in Do Revenge was an almost direct Jawbreaker quote when Drea told Eleanor I made you and I can just as easily destroy you. CHILLS

I always thought Horowitz Hall was named in honour of Maya Hawke's Stranger Things co-star Winona Ryder (whose birth surname is Horowitz)

Lots of movie references in this one, loved it.
10 things I hate about you was probably the most surprising. Came out of no where.

The uniforms were giving me Troop Beverly Hills (capes and berets) meets Princess Diaries (plaid, cardigans and neck ties)
reply

so basically the writers really love clueless and cruel intentions since half of the entries are one of those

This movie is an insult to all the great teen movies before it and Sarah Michelle Gellar is far too good to be in this
reply

I thought Let's do each other's revenge was a reference to Strangers on a Train - Let's do each other's murders
reply

Not to mention that Bitch is Also sung at the Cruel Intentions musical by Kathryn, so yeah, tons of references
