I was visiting my sister who was in the Airforce stationed in West Germany. It was 1985. I was an INNOCENT white boy from Montana. I was on one of the tourist trips American dependents (family or guests of service members) take in Europe. Jokingly referred to as 5 countries in 5 days on a bus with a screaming kid. Good times. Anyway, Paris was on the Schedule. And the Moulin Rouge early show was scheduled. The champagne flowed and the show started. The women were almost naked. The men were almost naked. The night was like the movie. I really couldn't comprehend everything until a few days later. Then the song made sence. How you gonna keep them down on the farm once they've seen Pairee. I was still from Montana, but I was no longer innocent.

I have not been there, yet. Someday for sure.
I have seen the movie, which is good.
I have, also, seen the Broadway musical with OBC which is phenomenal! And is still phenomenal with the current cast. I highly recommend it to anyone that goes to NYC.

I actually went to the Moulin Rouge a couple of years ago when I was in Paris, I have to say that it is one of the best shows I have ever seen. The music, the costumes, just everything was spectacular and honestly it was so much fun

You forgot to mention that not only did the women kick up their legs, at the time, the popular underwear were split crotch pants, so they were literally bare coochie while doing the splits

i was there in 2007, it looked really cool, but it was during the day and we didn't go in, would've loved to have watched a show there, but i was 15 at the time.
