Ummm. I actually really hate the new cast you guys are using the clips from. I think they're really bad (like a bad high school musical kinda bad) and no where near as good as the original. Especially, the intonation. It sounds all wrong.
Also, I think the way Veronica got out of her situation in the song Blue was great. It showed that she was in a bad situation but she was smart enough to get out of it. I kinda think it's similar to how Belle got Gaston out of her house in Disney's animated Beauty and the Beast. As someone who has been in a similar situation I liked how she got out of it. I know the song is silly but it makes the heavy subject a bit more bearable to digest. Especially, in a musical like this one. I don't know how the replacement song goes but I'm just saying that the original isn't that bad.
That's just my opinion though and if that song effected other survivors in a negative way than I'm glad that they changed it.
On another note, I didn't know that they made and replaced songs.

For me it was actually really touching that this guy who might've been a homophobe cared more about his son than his bigoted beliefs. He wasn't great at expressing it, but that's part of the point, isn't it? The acceptance was there even if he was kinda clumsy in expressing it. And people accepted that! There's something there about how, while intentions aren't everything, they DO matter, and for a parent to do their best for their kid like that. I think a lot would be lost if you made the scene more PC.

Honestly Lifeboat, Kindergarten Boyfriend, and My Dead Gay Son are WAY too low for my liking. Even Blue, the whole point is it's supposed to be offensive. It's to make us hate them so much we want JD to kill them. I wish they would of left it. You're Welcome is great but doesn't leave as much of an impact. Also for everyone that's only ever heard the remakes (West End, Riverdale, High School version, etc) I would 100% recommend listening to the full sound track from the original off Broadway version with Barrett and Ryan. The amount of emotion and the songs being made for each of the actors vocals just sounds phenomenal!

I hold such a special spot in my heart for kindergarten boyfriend, I was a little sad when it got ranked so low cause it also at always makes me cry, yes I know its not the most impressing song in the soundtrack, but it holds such a strong and sad message. Like just watching such a sweet character being constantly downgraded and treated like shit was so sad to see, mainly because this is a very true situation that unfortunately happens quite a lot irl.

Personally, I'd put Meant to be Yours in number 1, because- God, it represents all the musical: a passionate song that combines dark topics and humanity; an unstable rythma and character, and all the context needed to explote in this song is simply amazing. Maybe it's not here, but Meant to be yours is number 1 in my heart. both versions: Ryan and Jamie's because they're something else.
Then, I'd put Seventeen and Candy store, those are my top 3

Dont get me wrong the 2022 version was good but it didnt have the same everything as the Off-Broadway 2014 version. A lot of Veronicas lines felt forced, like the laughter. the west end version seems wrong to me, like its too modern and dosent feel set in 1980s, all the songs have the vibe of when that on person at a birthday going dayayayyay toohohohoo yooouououoiouo extra and the highstyles seem are very 2010+. Also while blue is not the best morally they couldve changed it and not replaced it.

Got to say meant to be yours is definitely number one its the song that got me into heathers its just brilliant then I would probably follow with our love is god because of the harmony's and the ending is just insane then dead girl walking and freeze your rain tied for third since they are both amazing and so catchy

Blue is a song used only for comic relief, because after Chandler's death, even the funniest scenes took a toll on the mood. Also, Kurt and Ram needed more screen time to die afterwards (and they needed a reason to kill them too. I don't think Veronica was disempowered, the focus just wasn't on her.

Fun fact: September 1, 1989 was actually on a Friday. It would have made a lot more sense to start on September 4th, the first Monday of the month.
As a note, I find JD's character very persuasive. I think it's something to do with the way he totally believes everything he's saying.

I feel like an idiot because Im probably the only one who has Blue as their favorite song from the musical. And dont even get me wrong, I love every single one of the songs and this is my favorite musical, but for some reason, Blue stuck out because its ridiculously catchy and hilarious.

honestly i think that blue is really important for the story line of the musical cause it sets veronica and jd's actions of kurt and ram's murders into action. but dead girl walking (reprise, lifeboat, meant to be mine, candy story, beautiful, and seventeen are definitely my favorites.

I think everyone was too harsh on Blue and like most of the other songs, it has dark content, but it was the only one called out for it. After all, everyone loves our love is god but it's about two people who would murder others because their love is better than any living thing.

unpopular opinion, Heathers off-broadway is better than this version. (The actors are still very talented, but if you compare them both it's not even close)
