Movies and other portrayals of her made her appear to be promiscuous and adulterous (home wrecker. Actually, Blonde is not a movie, it is a documentary of her life. Documentaries are true stories (told verbatim) of events and of people's lives. They know Norma Jean aka Marilyn Monroe wanted the world to know what happened to her.
She actually threatened to go public and tell the truth about all of the powerful rich men who abused and exploited her. Moreover, she especially threatened to expose President John Kennedy and his brother, Senator and Presidential candidate, Robert Kennedy.
As a young girl, I remember when her story was told by people who were very close to her, worked with her, her ex-husbands, her neighbors, and people who interacted with her such as hotel employees, airplane crew members, makeup artists, etc.
Back then, there were former law enforcement (agents, officers, private investigators, etc) who were also interviewed or they reported their own findings/results. What was reported and the stories that were told back then corroborates with this documentary.
I watched it with someone who is older than I am. In fact, he is old enough to be my father, and he said he remembers what happened to her as well.

Ana was scary she was so much physically alike but her impression. The over the top sad creature seen as pathetic running round naked and confused wasn't good. Poppy Montgomery was fantastic IMO. She was the first do portray Blonde the Book. The secret life was fiction. Her
Mother wasn't constantly in the picture like that. It was just weird.
I enjoyed the Niptuck, Monroe impersonator.
There were two Kennedy's that Ms Mojo refuse to believe Who Marilyn slept with. Bobby was actually Marilyn's first love. Well the tapes and interviews would differ and it shows she was with both men and they used her. This is what led to get suicide. Feud was so good I actually forgot about the Marilyn portrayal. I loved smash and both actresses Katherine McPhee and Meagan Hilty. Meagans voice IS Marilyn. Lets be bad was so good.
Michelle Williams portrayed an interesting, seductive and also smarter than most portrayals. I liked her happier portrayal too. I don't think Michelle Williams looked a thing like Marilyn/Norma but she acted the best next to Poppy Montgomery. They showed Norma as a young woman and her first marriage before she was famous.

The thing I find interesting is I have never seen a portrayal of Marilyn in which one of her most iconic features is done right. She has a distinct angle in the arch of her eyebrows that it seems no make up team in hollywood has noticed or bothered to recreate, which if they had, would have made these actresses look far more like her. None of them have her trademark eyebrow arch, and in each of thier looks something is missing, and IMO this is it. I don't think this would be hard for a professional makeup artist to achieve, and none of them have. Its a shame because without that arch, none of the actresses truly captures her look. As a result, each actress is left in an uncanny valley where they almost have her look, but not quite. It's unsettling, and makes it much harder for the viewer to sustain belief throughout these portrayals. Which is a shame because these actresses have done a fine job otherwise. It's a subtle thing, but very telling. The viewer keeps getting the feeling that something is not quite right about how her face looks.

The first time I saw Ana de Armas she was in a movie with Keanu Reeves (cant remember the name, it was awful lol) and she had short blonde hair and I said wow she looks like Marilyn Monroe. A lot of women make themselves up to look like her but she wasn't trying. That being said I think Michelle Williams did the best job. Most of these performances were forgettable at best. Like they threw a blonde wig and red lip on any actress who could make their voice breathy and went with it.

I honestly think that we shall continue to see more Marilyn portrayals because very few honestly depicted her as human and until Hollywood gets it right it won't stop. I honestly love My Week with Marilyn ( even if it's told from a male point of view) and The Secret Life Of Marilyn Monroe also Ana de Armas was amazing if only the material wanted to portray Marilyn as human and not as a fantasy and pro-life propaganda.

I feel like the only portrayals where I learned anything worthwhile or new about who Marilyn really was were This Year's Blonde and Smash! Especially Smash. Learned so many details about her from those songs, where I finally felt like I understood her. Also, thought the mini series Blonde was pretty good.

I think we've had enough Marilyn, so much so that the latest installment has decided to change her ethnicity to make things. idk. more exciting? Or maybe they wanted to try out some comedy in 2022? Whatever Hollywood, maybe you'll cast Samuel L. Jackson as Elton John in his next biopic hahaha

Actress KIM STANLEY played a thinly veiled Marilyn- like character in The GODDESS about 4 years before Marilyn's passing.
One thing that annoys me about most Marilyn portrayals is they have her constantly speaking in that breathless manner when that was NOT her actual speaking. Voice!

Ana de armas was horrible as Monroe and she was just crying the whole time making the iconic actress look boring and shallow for 3 hours straight. No more movies on Monroe or Diana please. leave them alone and stop fetishizing their real life sufferings

For all, Ive heart and seen. Marilyn was mistreated and abused, Indeed. But she still was a fighter, she never held back. She fought till the end, she wasnt a pushover. She did whatever she wished. In these movies, shes portrayed like a helpless victim.
reply

Blonde was a portrayal of her suffering, what she really experienced in Hollywood. Who she really was. I liked Ana's portrayal she did a good job. If she wasn't so vulnerable she would have had those executives in the palm of her hand.
reply

I prefer the parodies over the actual biopics just because the biopics are just as much fictional as the parodies, if that makes sense. even Michelle Williams version is fictional and relies heavily on myth of Marilyn.
reply

No one cares that Ana de Armas is not American. She's gorgeous and played it better than anyone I've seen. however. the movie was horrible. Couldn't even finish it. was falling asleep. It was a mess.
reply

What was the context of the scene where she says I made more money than Superman and Chewbacca? She died in '62, Star Wars (and Chewbacca) didn't release until '77 so how does that make sense?
reply

People can glamorize Marilyn Monroe all they want but the simple fact is that she was a hoe and a junkie She may not have been that way before she got famous but she sure as hell was after

Kelli Garner in The secret life of Marilyn Monroe remains the best portrayal in my opinion. It is respectful with the right balance of joy and tragedy. And Kelli looks the closest to MM.
reply

My Week with Marilyn was just another example of how crazily phenomenal, nuanced, powerful and incredible an actress Michelle Williams is. She can do it all. Watch anything she's in.
reply

Michelle Williams played a much more 3 dimensional Marilyn than Ana, but the 1 dimension Ana's portrayed is unparalleled. It's Andrew Dominik's fault for writing her that badly.
reply

I just want Hollywood to leave her alone and let her rest in peace Ana is the closest Ive ever seen in resemblance but there will ever only be one Norma Jeane she was one of one
reply

The enigma of Norma Jean/Marylin Monroe will always make sure that she will never rest in peace. Can we just please stop making movie after movie about Marylin Monroe.
reply

Michelle Williams' performance was great but she lacked the charisma and beauty of Marilyn and I just couldn't see her as the most famous woman in the world
reply

Did not Nicole Kidman also have a Marilyn portrayal in Moulin Rouge? Diamonds Are A Girl's Best Friend/ Material Girl are performed as a device for her character
reply

I still love The Secret Life Of Marilyn Monroe based on the her tapes. The short movie series was the closest thing to a biopic that we're ever going to get
reply

Blonde was a horrible movie but Anas performance was spot on. She looks the most like Marilyn and has her facial expressions down to a T.
reply

No-one of these actresses portrayed Marilyn as she deserved.
This last movie Blonde is simply disgusting. It's not art. is GARBAGE!

reply

Aside from acting tho. Poppy and Ana look physically beautiful and the features like M. M have down. The rest look NOTHING like her.
reply

Norma Jean childhood was tragic Horror story, Marilyn Monroe was the most abused and the most confused Hollywood's fame created
reply

I never been so insulted in my entire life they keep getting her wrong and making her look like a bad person which is not true
reply

Im almost finished with the 2022 one and I feel like Im watching a thriller. Its an interesting take on her life,
reply

I honestly think that if Marilyn saw all the movies that have been made about her shed just flip off everyone
