When I went to school to become an EMT we were taught that in the event that a patient dies you are to be explicitly clear with your language when you tell their family. You don't say things like your family member is in a better place because they may think that oh okay are they out of the emergency room and like into a hospital room? Most people expect that when their family member is picked up by an ambulance or taken to an emergency room that they're going to survive so when they don't it's a huge and massive shock. We were taught to explicitly say your loved one has died despite all of our best efforts we did everything that we could. And there's literally a moment in every single code blue where even the most senior physician in the room will turn to the room and ask does anyone have any ideas left? And literally any person in that room or that can hear that doctor speak is encouraged to run in and scream out an idea even if it's already been performed it becomes like a checklist so that you know yourself you truly did every last thing you could. And I can tell you that no idea is discounted because at that point you can't do that person any harm they're already dead. One big huge difference that I see in mindset between Healthcare Providers and professionals and lay people as in anyone who is not a doctor health care professional not to be insulting it's just the term used for most EMS fire police doctors Etc. Is that people who are not Healthcare professionals view the act of CPR as trying to prevent a death from occurring. While every Healthcare professional knows that the act of CPR is trying to revive the Dead. I had a friend who had really harsh feelings towards the paramedics and EMTs that tried to save her father's life and could not unfortunately until I told her that difference and her face just changed and she said to me so it's not that they didn't do enough he was already gone. And I said yes exactly. I truly believe after everything I've seen and all the stories I've heard that if a person is at peace with the thought of death of their death before something happens that could cause their death that those people often let go and pass away. Such as people who are elderly or who have severe mental health issues or physical health issues that take a mental and physical toll on them on a daily basis versus a younger generally happy disposition person who is more likely to fight harder and longer stay alive. Obviously that's not always true and I don't want anyone out there to think that if they're depressed loved one has a heart attack that they have a higher chance of dying and be worried about it because it's not true for everybody everybody is different. As in each of our bodies and Minds work differently then every single other one on the planet.

This Top 20 actually show how much a good person Paige is when others are in trouble, this is why she is my favorite character. From giving a tampon to Emma when she is troubled with her frist period, to trying to intervene and help Elli when she is self-harming, to defend and make Terri realise her situation, to appologize to Rick when the bullying went too far, to being there for Alex when she needed a friend. Paige is really empathetic and has actually the courage to stand for both herself and others, she is very genuine is those moments and I really loved that this show did not fall into the trope of the blond queen bee, and gave Paige an actual personality and morals.

While I didn't watch some of the later seasons, thanks for reminding me how much I grew to like a lot of the characters. I was a big Ellie and Manny supporter, but Paige grew so much, and I used to hate her a ton lol. I feel a lot of the characters I used to enjoy in general, I eventually disliked, and vice versa.

I know Cam wasn't the most memorable or significant character on Degrassi, but seeing how his suicide effected everyone else around him made me think differently about contemplating my own. So thank you degrassi and writers for showing the after effects of everything, with every situation, on everyone.

It was very hard to choose, but for me it has to be Ghost In The Machine. it showed someone who really went through being violated have to deal with not feeling like justice was served & I must say it was 1 of the 1st episodes that really took it there for me.

Mannys abortion episode actually was only aired in Canada and not the US. I had to go online and illegally stream it so I could watch it lol. If you watch the US season that storyline didnt make sense all the way through and you can tell something was missing

As a Somali Muslim I fricking hated Hazel for bullying Fareeza. I mean it is one thing for her to hide her faith but it unacceptable and hypocritical behaviour to bully someone else who also comes from an ethnic background similar to hers.

As a kid never liked it but like i got into it like 3 seasons before ended most part got me Adam going prom with Clair and fall in love honestly they tackled these important subjects and did it right most teen shows like this now

I couldnt take Spinner having Cancer. I would of cried for days if he died. Adam death ruined me. I loved Adam. Terri needed a bigger part. Paige deserved better. Spinner deserved that bullet Jimmy got. Jt should of never died

When JT got stabbed it was really heartbreaking. Liberty truly loved him and when he got stabbed she rushed to his side. That is one death every time I have watched the series all again, I still cry every time.

This show helped me growing up. It brought to light some things i was internally struggling with, and helped me deter on what to do. Thank you degrassi.
Whatever it takes. I know I can make it through.

I learned about Epilepsy from watching Degrassi Junior High, in the 90's. This is when all Nickelodeon shows had a meaning/lesson. Most of the TV shows (almost all of them) around that time for that matter.

Idk why my parents didn't want me watching this in middle school, it tackled real issues and something we all can learn from going into later stages in life, even something to relate to later on too
reply

Gosh this brought back memories. I knew it was ok to be gy from this show. I also love that they let the characters go through what would actually happen. Like the guy getting away with rp3.
reply

I love this show I wish they would make more like it because it was a real dose of reality that helped shape me in my adolescence being more understanding and non-judgmental

Degrassi will ALWAYS be an amazing show! I grew up watching it and absolutely loved how it talked about real life issues! It was very hands on and very open! Top tier!
reply

I actually watched this with my daughters. It left us with an open dialogue to discuss the issues they were both dealing with. This series is perfect for pre and teens.

Adam's storyline gave me a lot of respect for Jordan Todosey as an actress. The fact that the self-proclaimed girliest cast member truly showed her range in the role.
reply

I'm disappointing that Degrassi never did a plotline involving a girl abusing her boyfriend. It's always the GIRL the victim in these shows. Boys can be abused too.
reply

This gen of Degrassi was so formative for my sisters and I growing up. Watching these clips is giving me memories of the days I originally watched these episodes.

JTs death should have been number 1. He was one of the best characters in the show even though hes not the only one who died before he got a chance to live.
reply

The list could go on and on. One of the plots that touched me the most was Fionna's alcohol addiction. And also, pretty much every storyline with Eli
reply

Something Ive noticed: many of the entries from the early seasons involve Paige checking in on her friends when they go through a hard time.

Cam's death hit hard for me when I saw the episode a similar thing happened abt a year ago even tho the show heired when I was still a kid

Ummmmm the hijab is a symbol of oppression of women are from Middle Eastern, Eastern European, and North African countries
reply

Shows like this is much more scary than horror movies, because they actually have negative things that happen in real life.
reply

Although its not as serious as these, Imogens father suffering from dementia really hits home for me on a personal level.
reply

ive never even really watched degrassi, but adam is the only transgender man i can think of seeing in non-animated/written media
reply

I loved this show so much, but it was also so depressing.
Especially having gone through most of those moments myself.

reply

I bawled my eyes out when Toby spoke to the nurse as JTs brother just to hear that his best friend is gone
