As long as we're counting animated films, what about Luca, the first two How to Train Your Dragon movies, and Brave? In Luca, Luca sacrifices his secret identity to save Alberto from being killed by Ercole. In How to Train Your Dragon, Hiccup renounces his Viking identity (I'm not one of them) in an attempt to end the dragon-Viking war for good. In How to Train Your Dragon 2, Stoick sacrifices his own life to save Hiccup from the brainwashed Toothless. In Brave, Merida is willing to follow tradition by marrying into one of the warring clans. However, she's encouraged by Bear Elinor to instead defy custom and asks the lords to let her and their sons find love on their own.

I feel like a lot of people dont realize how special and powerful it is that Katniss volunteered for her sister. In the book its mentioned that Peetas older brother didnt volunteer for him as family commitment can only go such a long way. When they were younger, Katniss dedicated herself to taking care of Prim as her mother was suffering from depression following her fathers death in a coal mining accident
reply

Mean Girls being so close to the Hunger Games is quite disrespectful & a dishonor to what they portraying. Yes showing vanity isn't fair & shouldn't be recognized in this world is a great message, Yet who would ever say it is as close to how heroic as messaging how amazing it is to sacrifice, give up & volunteer your entire life for family out of love!

Portraying the protagonist of Easy A as a heroine is ridiculous. She tells a selfish lie, then capitalises on it to her financial advantage. In addition, it's ridiculous that she gets a scandalous reputation for doing what most 17-y-olds have done.

Almost agreed with everything except Mean girls, there's no sacrifice, she won and she decided to reject it and share it, plus it's not even close to the other stories, life of death was on the line, being or not being the queen prom? Come on!

Katniss, Thomas, and Harry are 3 of the most kind, brave, and self-less teens in modern film. In spite of all the pain and suffering, and PTSD they consistently go through; they stay amazing! So glad that they were included in this list.

Katniss, Starr, and Harry are 3 of my fictional idols due to their infinite love for those close to them and their passion to bring peace and justice to everyone, especially when Starr's story is so real and heartbreaking
reply

I was so proud of Starr for standing strong, even if it meant sacrificing her safety and losing her wealthy friends. It couldn't have been easy, but she did it anyway, refusing to let Khalil's death be in vain.
reply

yes they are all so brave and simply amazing! but i think peter deserves a higher rank. i mean, imagine the whole world would forget who you are. literally nobody knows you! that's a huge sacrifice!
reply

I remember reading the end of Hunger Games about Primrose and literally almost throwing the book! I was so mad and upset! I felt betrayed
A little dramatic but I was not expecting that at all!

When Voldemort shouted the forbidden spell to Harry, the experience of watching it with lights off and headphones I wasn't prepared for the trauma. Harry Potter's sacrifice was breathtaking.
reply

I feel like Harry's sacrifice was so brave because you cant just say Ok someone is gonna kill my friends, i need to save them. I cried so much because he could have easily chickened out
reply

I think that, as life is action and passion, it is required of a man that he should share the passion and action of his time at peril of being judged not to have lived.
reply

Actually, the sacrifice came before the movie, but when Charlotte explains why she did what she did in Bandslam (2009, she suddenly becomes very relatable.
reply

Peter Parker, Katniss Everdeen, and Harry Potter are my favorite teens who make the big sacrifices to save the world. They are the MVPs in my opinion
reply

Peter, Gus, Harry, Bella and Katniss, they have one thing in common: they act out of sacrifice and selflessness for the people they love
reply

Easy A is great but it is a bad movie that no one is going to watch. The Fault In Our Stars is good but there is a sad scene.
reply

I was hoping no way home would be on the list cause it is a teen movie technically since he's a teenager and all that
reply

I am sorry, but I am missing here Sam from Before I fall. not even a honorable mention? She died to save Juliet.
reply

I love that she volunteered for Prim, but did she have to die in the bomb explosion! She didn't deserve it!
reply

Katniss volunteering for her sister is just soooo powerful/emotional and Jennifer Lawrences acting is great
