When Rory messed up, she really was the worst. For this list, well be looking at moments when the younger Lorelai Gilmores flaws are most obvious. Our countdown includes bribing a stranger, ignoring Lane, stealing a yacht, and more! What do YOU think is Rory's worst moment?

I don't really get why people keep thinking that her missing her mom's graduation was her being horrible. She didn't mean to miss it and was devastated when she did-- her worst flaw in that scenario was lack of foresight and relying too much on the bus schedule, failing to account for delays. Which makes sense since she was 16/17 and didn't have as much experience with NY buses. It's not like she actively chose to go see Jess and miss her mom's graduation. She has a lot of terrible moments but honest mistakes shouldn't be counted among them.
Anyways I think the worst thing about Rory's arc is that in the beginning of the series, she's genuinely kind, but by the end of the show, she's someone who thinks and acts like she's kind but whose true colors are that she's mean and judgmental. That article she wrote on the ballet was awful-- she was so unnecessarily cruel. And the fact that she defends it with I just wrote what I thought just shows that she really is just that mean. And she could have at least seen the show again to see if she really was that bad of a dancer or if she just had a bad night. Anyone who's ever done performing arts knows that sometimes you just have off nights. Logan calling her out about her trust fund article was really great though. It kind of reminded me how when Paris's parents had trouble with the IRS and all of her accounts were frozen so she worked that DAR event, and then she kept ranting about being the working class and how much she hated the rich lol.

I liked Rory for a while and I do think that sometimes Dean showed jealous, controlling behavior, but with good reason most times. He tried to brush most things off for her but everyone can see that Rory was constantly doing things that made him feel insecure and took no fault. He was just dumb enough to stick around and even sleep with her while he was married. Regardless of what was happening with him and Lindsay, he should know how it feels to be betrayed like that whether the feelings were being lost or not. Just like Rory shouldve told him how she was feeling before leading him on while messing around with Jess, he shouldve done the same for Lindsay. He swore he wanted a house wife when he wanted Rory to be one for him, but I think the writers made everything go Rorys way. Even though she was terrible at most times, I think she didnt have any stability and thought she could just run through every guy and go backwards if she wanted regardless of their relationship status.

There was something about how callous Rory was to Paul that probably was one of the worst for me. And the forgetting him angle was not funny in the least. It's basically an unspoken way of saying the man isn't important enough for her or anyone else to remember. Rory said she was dating him for TWO YEARS. Then in the last episode it was stated it had been 3 years.
Years! If you don't like someone & think they're boring after 1-2 dates just stop seeing them. She clearly never was interested in him, forgets him all the time etc. Which means, she dated him only because she wanted to say she had a boyfriend.
It feels very. sociopathic & narcissistic.
Maybe it would feel different if they were only dating a few weeks at the start of the revival, and a few months by the end. but 3 years with that guy? Just awful.

Who in their right mind ever thought that Rory could actually become a great journalist? We never see her investigate anything (apart from the Life and Death Brigade and that she only got through Logan's help) and see her being proactive.
Also, we are explicitly told that Rory's a loner who likes to read all the time and who crumbles at the first sign of a setback. She's not the type to go out into the world and search for a story. Jess called it as soon as season 2 that Rory wasn't tough enough for the job - so her downfall in regards to her profession made absolute sense. Once she saw what the job really meant, she lost the drive for it. Also - Rory as a character could never ever be far away from Lorelai for longer periods of time to stay in foreign countries. That just wouldn't happen.

Maybe its because I havent watched this show so I dont have the same love but mostly hate relationship fans of the show seem to have with Rory but I dont really agree with number 9. I just started college but I dont do well with change so I picked one thing in my life that I refused to let change to make me feel more comfortable about going to college. So maybe Rory got so upset someone was sitting under her study tree because it felt like another thing was changing in her life. And the fact she was probably looking forward to having some alone time sitting under that tree all day. Also bribing the man for the tree wasnt that bad especially considering she could have been really rude and mean to him but she wasnt. Just a thought.

At first, Rory's flaws were forgivable. She was just a teenager, after all, and lacked experience and maturity. But as time went on, Rory refused to change and grow up, and clung to her childish attitudes from high school. That's when she became insufferable. She never learned humility, she never learned consideration for others' feelings, and she never became a responsible adult or even really tried. That's on her. She just expected life to hand her what she wanted because she was smart and pretty, but she never learned that intelligence and wisdom are two separate things, and just blamed everything around her for her issues.

There were also many many times she was the reason why Emily and Lorelai had such a bad relationship. For example, the first episode of season 4 when Emily was waiting for both Lorelai and Rory to attend the Friday night dinner. This was a pivotal dinner because Lorelai had previously payed off Chilton and Emily did not react well to that, because she believed Lorelai will stop attending. However, because of the Yale start date debacle, Lorelai had to stay back and instead of telling Emily that Lorelai can't attend Friday night dinner, Rory says nothing and lets her believe that Lorelai snub them and just doesn't care.

Rory is entitled, spoilt, insensitive, high headed and all air no substance girl. She keeps making same mistakes again and again, she dumped dean for Jess then later she had an affair with dean while he was married ( not that he was not guilty, did the same with Logan. Never respected money and took her folks ( and everyone around her) for granted. Not to mention she throws tantrums, disrespects her mother, acts as if she knows it all. She is a cautionary tale
reply

I could not stand her. Especially when people extolled how much of a genius she was, when she didnt have the innovative brilliance of Logan or Lane. Mitchum was on the money when he told her that she didnt have it. She was good at following orders and memorizing stuff, but she was propped up so much by her mom and Stars Hollow, not to mention her grandparents, but she legitimately was just the obnoxious AP kid manifested into adulthood
reply

Rejecting Logan's proposal in the final season. No offense to people, but if you're not willing to get married then why are you even with someone! She could've still had a career! Then she goes back to wanting him when he's engaged to someone else; just like she did with Dean.
Although I will say I didn't like them too together. I was never team Logan. But I guess I was also never team Rory

Rory is such an awful person. Even though Logan was a rich boy with some selfish issues he did not let her try to act high and mighty about her lesser situation that definitely set her up for success. And she still failed. She is full of excuses and takes no accountability. Elaine was such a great friend too and in my eyes did so well with her life.
reply

I want to give it the benefits of the doubt as were other times because at the time was the only thing that was helping me bond with my sister watching this and commenting on. Now watch it with with mature mind its crazy. But at the time me and my sisters we saw it as life learning and maturing and learn how to choose between good and bad etc
reply

Also I feel like number 1 didnt even need to be mentioned. She was very young and that reasoning was understandable and corrected very quickly once she empathized with what her mom went though to put her in school. Definitely shouldve included instead her treating Dean like garbage the second Jess showed up and then for many months after.
reply

I do think that Rory was too mean but i cant blame her fully as Doyle told her she had to be mean and accepts the review and tells Rory how good it is to domeone who is trying to learn what the paper will or will not accept. When she was fair she is told it is too boring and does not make it into the paper.
reply

One moment I despised was in season 5 when she makes separate plans with Marty and Logan on the same day and then gets Marty to hang out with them even though Logan and his friends disrespected him. Maybe she was trying to make Marty feel included but i thought it seemed really thoughtless.
reply

I liked Rory. She is flawed and ultimately trying to be good. It felt real. I was very unhappy how shitty of an adult they made her to become. The way she handled professional and personal relationships in adulthood was just disgusting to me. The show just didn't have the same charm.
reply

Watched the first Episode ever when I was only 13 years old and disliked Rory straight away. Thought she was a spoiled Brat and seems like it only got worse. I never got to watch the whole Show, she'd just not likeable in my opinion. I like Lorelei more and ofc suki and michelle
reply

My fear is ending up like rory and not realizing it. BECAUSE SHE NEVER DOES
its like having huge potential and then u become this. Main reason why i stopped watching the show because i could see how its really easy to cross that boundary and be like her. Akjsjwjnsks

reply

Rory always expects that everybody is in love with her, being at her disposal whenever it suits her. She is spoiled and everything has to come easy. With the slightest struggle, it's a total disaster and of course never her fault.
She's, in short, insufferable.

Letting Dean get blamed for their first break up flirting with Jess while being with Dean kissing Jess while she was at a wedding with Dean oh getting drunk with Logan n his pals when Dean was waiting for her she did Dean dirty he deserved so much better
reply

Yeah, not all only children have no idea how to share. This is a constant generalization in any review of Rory and Gilmore Girls in general. You can literally just say she sucks at sharing, you dont have to generalize a huge part of the population.
reply

Rory was pretty selfish & entitled most of the time. She got worse after meeting Logan. Really disliked her as the seasons progressed. Dropping out of Yale & moving into her grandparents pool house was a particularly self entitled low point
reply

I liked rory so was happy to overlook a lot of the crap she did early on but once she had the affair with dean i was so done with her. She is such a spoilt, nasty, entitled person! The it's my tree thing just added insult to injury.
reply

The only time I think I will defend Rory is the Sandy Says interview. Sandy said several times that she wanted her there and wouldn't stop until she was, if I heard that I would think I was more or less guaranteed the job as well XD
reply

Rory is the classic example of an entitled brat. It goes to show no matter how hard her mother tried to hide her from that lifestyle, Rory still came out to be the things her mother tried to run from. The show is actually tragic.
reply

I hope her so-called best friend got a happy ending because I honestly feel bad for her at lest I treated my friends with respect in high school even the person who I thought was my best friend Who was flexible and honestly a big eater
reply

This could have been a longer list, but I'm so glad her treatment of Lane (and other friends) made an appearance. And even though it's all fictional, I hope they had better friend/relationships beyond what we saw with Rory.
reply

Just another reminder that Rory didn't write the script, guys. Alexis played the part that was written for her. Just because i know some people are a little confused where to place the blame for their imperfect heroin.
reply

I hate you for ruining this for me to a mother who was over the board supportive to her always but tried to knock sense when committing infidelity. Sis is the worst daughter, friend and person all in a package
reply

Clearly since she grew up without a father she falls for any guy she fancies even married guys, plus as an only child she was probably spoiled and never learned sharing and probably barely kept friends
