I dont care what people say this is such an incredible show; take it with a grain of salt, its obviously quite fictionalized in some aspects but honestly I think this show does a good job showing that the Royal Family are in fact humans at the end of the day. You also have to appreciate the dedication & attention to detail that this show has in spades.

the Aberfan episode always moves me.
EDIT: While the people wailed and moaned about the Queens lack of response, I think the sow put it beautifully. Do you know what happens when the Queen visits? Everything stops. No matter that we don't know her decisions in real life, this makes a very good point. The same happens here with the President.

I didn't like season 5 that much. Too much concentration of only Charles and Di. Di being the only one who looked a bit like the original. Also, might be a bit ridiculous, it irritates me when they pick actors with different eye colors for the same role. Like the did with as well the Queen as Margret.

I think my favourite episodes have to be: S01 E07 (Scientia Potentia Est, S02 E05 (Marionettes, S02 E06 (Vergangenheit) which left me SHOOKETH, S03 E06 (Tywysog Cymru) and S04 E05 (Fagan.
Edit: So happy to know my favourite episodes have mostly intersected with the list here.

My favourite episodes are Beryl in Season 2 and War in Season 4. Vanessa Kirby as Princess Margaret stole S2. And Emma Corrin became Princess Diana, it's heartbreaking to see it knowing what would happen to her in the late '90s. Assassins is one of Claire Foy's best work, too.
reply

The closing shot of War is especially heartbreaking, since it lingers on Diana, who has resigned herself to being trapped in a destructive marriage, and we know that it won't end well for her. While I'll miss Emma, I'm anticipating Elizabeth's take on Diana.

Sadly, I see episode 'Aberfan' as foreshadowing the Royal Family's handling of Diana's death. A delayed response to the public's shock and horror that left the royals, and the Queen in particular, having to scramble in order to keep from being engulfed.

They don't have to be the Royal Family.
Why not Royal Charitable Foundation.
Not that they donate nuch yo charity.
Work 9 - 5 like REAL PEOPLE.
WEAR suits and office clothing. Make your own tea. Take the plums out of Charles mouth.

I mean, the Royal Family Reality TV Show would actually be hilarious. The Queen as Kris intervening as Prince Edward tries to cut a cucumber like Kendall Jenner.
reply

I appreciate the remembrance of Aberfan. I never heard of it until The Crown. I'm 59. Had those children lived they would only be about 4 years older than me.
reply

Doesn't it say something more about that the Queen wanted to learn more and have more of a general education beside just learning the constitution
reply

I completely agree with your #1 Vergangenheit I've rewatched that one several times. David's dressing down is fantastic. Love Claire Foy
reply

Monarchy treats Charles badly -> Charles treats Diana badly.
Honestly! YOU CANNOT CHOOSE WHO YOUR FRIENDS AND RELATIVES SHOULD LOVE!
