My ranking:
Btw I love all 8 movies, in my opinion there isnt a single one of them I dont like
8. Half blood prince - I always felt like this movies plot went very slow, and focused a lot about the golden trio during puberty. Although, I find this one slow tho, its still enjoyable and has a lot of important stuff on Tom riddle.
7 - Deathly hallows part 1 - it was also pretty slow, because it was setting up the final film, but its an amazing character study, showing how far weve gone with these 3 characters. And dobbys death is the saddest in the franchise
6 - Philosophers Stone - an amazing beginning to the franchise that introduces the characters and the wizarding world amazingly. It does amazing trying to take everything out of book and putting it in the movie.
5 - Chamber of Secrets - does everything amazing from the first movie, and it enters a more dark story, with Tom Riddle involved and the mystery in this film was amazing. Again, it did very good taking out everything from book and putting it in the movie.
4 - Order of the Phoenix - an amazing movie that starts showing us the battle between Dumbledores Army and the Death Eaters and it did amazing taking out only what was important from the book and putting it into the movie.
3 - Prisoner of Azkaban - an amazing movie that introduces us to a group of new characters, whilst taking out only the stuff important about Harry and putting it in the movie.
2 - Goblet of Fire - I enjoy this movie a lot because its the first movie in the franchise, to become a lot more darker and it introduces Voldemort and the Triwizard Tournament elements were amazing and the Mad Eye Moody mystery was amazing.
1 - Deathly Hallows Part 2 - Ive never seen such an amazing ending to a movie franchise. It concludes everything thats happening to the characters and the final battle was epic.

I think were a bit too harsh on order of the phoenix, its way more enjoyable than the book for me, it trims the fat. I found goblet of fire far more offensive because actual crucial plot points were heavily altered and characters integral to the mystery were cut out entirely not to mention they basically spoil you on who the culprit is. Order still captured the essence of the largest book without bloating the movie thats a tremendous feat. Thats how you use your creative liberties on an adaptation that should never fit on one film, youre never going to get it all without making multiple parts and youd still be missing something. You even mentioned how this was Dans best performance in the series I cant understand how it sits at last place and Umbridge was the most compelling on screen HP villain, her actress was amazing.

Theres a bit of a gap between 10 and 11. Crimes Of Grindelwald is the only bad movie to me. Secrets Of Dumbledore started off pretty badly but I think it wrapped things up nicely enough for me to consider it a good movie overall.

i just have to say that my favourite has the be the half blood prince.
the 6th movie had just the right amount of seriousness teenage romance and action
all the way from the introduction of slug horn to Harry and Ginny's first kiss the the sad death of Dumbledore it was all so heart felt/action worthy/romantic/funny/a bit of hoarseness.
i loved every second of this movie and would watch it over any of them

If you ask me, I would say prisoner of azkaban and goblet of fire the worst. First two movies were the best movies of the franchise. I couldn't believe how they changed hogwarts during the third movie. Hagrid's hut seemed far away from hogwarts which was not the case in the previous ones. Order and half blood prince were not bad at all.

I always felt like the killing curse is overpowered. I mean it's literally saying a word and it ends someones life.
Maybe it should have been made so that it needed a long charge up or something?

What I love about this ranking, and HP rankings in general, is even though I disagree with some of it, I can see exactly why you ranked it the way you did. But how awesome is PoA!

They cut a lot from Prisoner of Azkaban particularly the background story of the Marauders, so I dont get why its the first or why it ranks above Chamber of Secrets

I think Order of the Phoenix is the best. Harry gets his best character development. The book is pretty bloated, using the montage to speed through it worked.
