These sitcoms should NEVER be remake. For this list, well be looking at the most legendary situation comedies that need not ever be touched again! Our countdown includes 30 Rock, Happy Days, The Office, and more! Which sitcom do YOU think should never be remade?

I'd add both the Brady Bunch and the Partridge Family. They considered rebooting both and neither happened luckily. I remember that VH1 did have a reality series to try to reboot the Partridge Family but didn't last. In general, my opinion is if a show was iconic and most/all of the cast is dead, don't even try. I Love Lucy is the best sitcom of all time. I will say though Will and Grace had a great imo episode where they all were various characters and it was funny. I would like to see a reboot of Cheers though with the original cast. Maybe not an entire season but even just a TV movie where they mentioned where everyone is now. After all, most of the main cast are living and most still act so would be cool to see where the characters are.

The golden girls need to be included.
Top 20 or top 25.
And I would do failed reboots or remakes.
Number one should be TRL, it worked in the 00s, and was seen as an essential capsule of millennials pop culture.
Pop legends Madonna, Janet jackson, prince and Michael Jackson
Icons in the making Miley Cyrus, Rihanna, and of course the queen of TRL herself Britney spears all found fame on what's described the last great promotional tool of the album era.
The late 2018 one was a far cry from the prime pop culture days of TRL.

The closest thing to an I Love Lucy reboot that's remotely close was an episode of Will & Grace during the revival season especially since not only the obvious Debra (Grace) Messing playing Lucy happened but also both Megan (Karen) Mullally and Sean (Jack) Hayes each getting to take a turn as Lucy in three of the most classic Lucy moments (in order, the Vitameatavegemin commercial, the Italian grape-stomping and the chocolate factory--the last one features Lucie Arnaz in the supervisor's role.

F. R. I. E. N. D. S WILL ALWAYS BE THE NR 1 BEST sitcom ever made, it just worked, the timeline, being in your 20's, the humor and still is relevant and I have probably rewatched it 10 times.
Married with children, how I met your Mother, Gilmore Girls, 7th Heaven, 2 Broke Girls, not all sitcoms, some soaps, some series, but these are just classics that make you feel like they are part of your family or friends, Allie Mcbeal was also cool

Well let me throw one out there that I bet most people would disagree with but honestly I want to see remade even though probably in reality there's no way it could and if it didn't probably wouldn't be as good I WANT SOMEBODY TO REMAKE THE DICK VAN DYKE SHOW! I'm sorry I did not get enough of Rob Petrie Buddy Sorel Sally Rogers and Laura Petrie.

My favorites on this list include: I Love Lucy, The Big Bang Theory, The Golden Girls, and Friends. My other favorites include: The Nanny, The Middle, Friends, and Malcolm In The Middle. Please don't hate/judge/criticize the shows I listed. They are my opinion-based shows, and yes, I've watched all of them.

the original UK The Office should NOT have been remade into the US version.
the ONLY two shows that i tried watching in their original UK versions but just didn't sit right with me that are much better as USA versions are Whose Line (older seasons of course) and Shameless.

reply

In I Dream of Jeannie, the FIRST thing Tony does is set Jeannie free. She CHOOSES to stay with Tony.
All In the Family - Carroll O'Conner was a Liberal satirizing the Conservative mindset.
I Love Lucy was also the first comedy to have a live studio audience.

Recently twice Norman Lear recreated two episodes from All in the Family with Woody Harrelson as Archie and Marisa Tomei as Edith. And Jaime Foxx imitated Sherman Hemsley poorly as George Jefferson rather than making the character his own, they were terrible.
reply

Seinfeld should not be remade but should continue somehow even after the reunion, or focus on a continuation after it's alternate ending. I think there should be a movie on the story of Seinfeld, based on the book Seinfeldia.
reply

The Odd Couple! It was remade twice and they were both terrible.
Happy Days was an awful show anyway after about the first 3-4 seasons. As for Friends, am I the only one who thinks that show was VASTLY overrated?

reply

I guess this was a good list. I def would include a primetime soap opera or two (i. e. Dallas, The Middle, and Glee. Glee was once in a lifetime wholesome fun with wicked satire mixed in!
reply

You forgot one: The Golden Girls. The writing and chemistry of the girls can never be done again. Theres not a single actress who could be a Dorothy Zbornak or a Blanche Devereaux
reply

It's not just the Office that is a remake of a British show on this list. Sandford and Son is a remake of Steptoe and Son and All in the Family is a remake of Till Death Us Do Part.
reply

I agree about Sanford and Son. Funny thing is that it was a remake of a British series called Steptoe and Son. But Redd Fox and Co. perfected it. So no way should they remake it.
reply

Yes i do agree - however in some kind of that 70's show skit dream segment - laura prepon was dressed and looked amazingly like a young Lucille/Lucy character from i love lucy
reply

Yea, kids these days wouldn't understand a 50's style show. so no to Happy Days and 2 others that are impossible is All in the Family and Sanford And Son. both too Racey
reply

Most shows being remade use the show name and characters name but do not resemble the old show at a. The thing that's angers ne most is making male characters female.
reply

Thank god jerry senfield has no desires to come back He is rude and not funny!
I have to disagree with your list
And what about THE NANNY and GOKDEN GIRLS?

reply

Gilligan's Island. You can't replace Bob Denver, Alan Hale, Jim Backus and Natalie Schafer, Tina Louise and the rest (Russel Johnson and the lovely Dawn Wells.
reply

First of all the show Friends is pretty much a remake of Living Single. NBC literally used Living Single as the blueprint and just made everyone white.
reply

Father Knows Best Green Acres Beverlyhill Billies Fresh Prince Of Bel Air Good Times Golden Girls Home Improvement The Jeffersons Just to name a few.
reply

The friends' concept was not the first or only. Living Single, Sinfield, Threes Company, Golden Girls, Couplings, How I met your Mother, 70 show.
reply

Seinfeld couldn't be remade because so many of the problems the characters had wouldn't be problems because they would all have cell phones
reply

are these controversial sitcoms or sitcoms that should never be remade for other reasons and not just controversy?
reply

The Honeymooners
Just like All in the Family it was made during the perfect time and could never fit into any decade.

reply

Wasn't coupling the same as friends they had six people in there too three guys three girls and it was both just as funny
reply

I heard a rumor that Married With Children was coming back with the. orignal cast but as an animated program.
