There is an episode of Rugrats that I thought was really twisted. Tommy, Chuckie, Phil, and Lil all talk about abandonment. Each child has a scene where their parents come to their crib and they are hungry. Their bottle is gone but they won't give them either any more milk or not enough. Their clothes are tattered and worn out, the wind is blowing. In Phil and Lil's scene one of the twins either gets more milk than the other or one doesn't get any milk at all. I used to think it was lost media, I haven't watched any episodes but I looked on the Wikipedia and didn't see it. I remember the entire episode being that plot but it could have just been a side plot so it wasn't in the plot description for the show. Does anyone know what I'm talking about? I remember it really vividly because I was really sheltered as a child and so the fear of abandonment really freaked me out, I remember seeing it more than once

Of all the Scooby Doo villains the gang unmasked over the years, I always felt most sympathetic toward Marcy. I would've gone bat-isht crazy if I were her too. I totally get it. I have a birthday in late October. It's cool to have a birthday on or close to Halloween when you're a kid, but once you get older, it starts to get depressing. If you're lucky enough to have heads remember your birthday, you won't get decent gifts from anybody because they blew all their money on candy, costumes, decorations and isht. Maybe they'll hit you off a week or two afterwards, but it's just not the same.

I was a teenager when some of these were on so I got the innuendos.
However, when I was younger, any adult themes flew right over my head.
Even the 80's cartoon that I still watch called The Smurfs had some light innuendos.
I can't pin point one right now. I know it was from when Papa Smurf turned the Gargamel created Smurfette into a blonde headed beauty.
The only woman in a sea of male Smurfs.
I'd have to go back and watch some more because the innuendos were few and far between.

Man that justice league mention about the fastest man alive bit as a kid went over my head. I watched that episode more times than I can count cuz I love watching the back and forth with luthor, joker, and the other villains that interact with Batman. But that subtle yet devastating burn to the flash from hawkgirl was just gold. Man did it feel good to see the biggest boaster since before booster gold get smacked down so hard

When I was a kid, I absolutely LOVED Fraggle Rock. As an adult, I bought Season 1 and started to watch it and don't think I even got halfway through the episode because of the adult references that I certainly did NOT pick up on as a kid. I have not tried to rewatch any episodes again since then. Totally ruined for me.

He-Man and the Masters of the Universe had so many innuendos in it. One of my favorites was:
Teela: Adam, haven't you ever noticed the the difference between men and women?
Adam: I guess so.
Teela: Well, hooray for that little bit of difference. At which point Prince Adam looks down at his lap and frowns.

A vast majority of cartoons have more adult humor in them from time to time. Why? Because in many cases the show may be geared towards kids but parents are often stuck watching it with them. So they throw in a joke here and there for the parents that they expect the kids to miss or not understand.

The Principal's name on Doug was Mr. Buttsavage. The Assistant Principal's name was Mr. Bone. On the final episode, Roger tells Doug Why don't you talk to Mr. Bone? He always straightens me out. This went completely over my head in elementary school. It is blatantly obvious in my mid-thirties.

Another one that slipped past the censors on the Powerpuff Girls' show was Sara Bellum's home address: 69 Yodelinda Valley Lane. It is apparently intended to be a play on the city of Yorba Linda, California but is actually two puns pertaining to a certain act: 69 and yodel in the valley.

No lie I was watching hey Arnold yesterday. when it came out I was 6. I new it was weird but shish. but now I'm like whattype of matrix am I stuck in? The show was telling the truth in the most innocent way and it still was dark! Thank good for early nickelodeon n cartoon network!

Let's face it, Bob and Mariam are on the worst parents in cartoon history list. They pay attention to Olga more than Helga and sometimes don't even bother to remember her name. Its a wonder Helga was somewhat stable throughout the series.

Hey Arnold the only one that messes with people. Everyone knew Fred was knocking boots with Velma and Daphne. He would split up and always goes with them. And majority of the time Scooby and shaggy run into the villains

According to Tom Ruegger, the joke was originally supposed to end with Yakko saying: FINGERprints, then Dot just chucked Prince out the window. I don't think so was actually adlibbed by Dot's voice actor, Tress MacNeille.

I'm surprised Tiny Toon's Babs Bunny Me So Bunny scene did not make this list. in less than 30 seconds she does impressions of Homey the Clown, A Madonna Justify My Love impression and 2 Live Crew's Me So Horny reference

Rocko had far more crazy jokes than that. My favorite was when Heffer threw a nudist party at Rocko's house later that night Bev invited the same group over to her house. Ed was like what the hell you got goin on!

I think since Flintstones used stone or rock or any variation in names
you'd think Winston would be Winstone!
or how about the newspaper Rock is reading?
note it has TWO Ses in it to make a$$

reply

I think a much better Rocko selection would be the one where Heffer was mistakenly hooked up to the milking machine in The Good, the Bad, and the Wallaby. Even as a kid, you can tell what's happening.

In over half of the US the age of consent is 16-17 years old. Nationwide, just about the only thing you get to be legal to do at age 18 is vote. Or register for Selective Service if you're male.

If memory serves, the person who came up with the design for Grandpa Boris was Jewish and inspired by one of his own grandfathers, and said as much in response to the ADL's complaint.

Oh my god! The image of the Mayor licking (censored because of the MeToo (expletive for female dogs) was definitely mind-blowing and definitely did something to my. keep it G, Le Dell Keep it G.

The reason cigarettes were allowed on a family show (and doctors in cigarette ads) was because they didn't know the long term side effects.
cough jab cough

I recently heard the dirtiest joke on the amazing world of gumball. I was babysitting my cousins kids and they love the show. But omg one joke was so so dirty

These are offensive yet drag queen story hour and confusing kids about their gender is acceptable. Our world is truly screwed up and backwards.

Don't get what's odd about them eating pig butt people do it all the time make roast out of them and chicken are meat eaters works are meat
reply

The beauty of Animaniacs was that the writers wrote jokes that they knew the censors would catch while slipping in ones that they wouldnt.
reply

I wouldn't exactly say that the cigarette ad is a ruination of childhood since it came out during the time when those ads were prevalent.
reply

Honestly it's a lot of fun to look back at these more grown up things within the cartoons that I watched as a child back in the '90s.
reply

also the animmaniacs theme says were the animaniacs theres balony in our slags, seems like to clear a metaphor for erections!
reply

Innuendo content never hurts my childhood because I really loved adult humor. Its very entertaining as a child even a teen.
reply

Seeing how the Flintstones pushed cigarettes back then was funny and now theyre pushing cereal with their ads
