These ove-the-top dance movie scenes went all out. For this list, well be looking at cinematic dance sequences that are the farthest thing from ordinary. Our countdown includes Xanadu, The Producers, La La Land, and more! Which dance scene gets YOU on YOUR feet?

You need to do a second one! Include Toot Sweets from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Broadway Melody from Singing in the Rain, the American in Paris ballet at the end of An American in Paris, and in the mostly forgettable movie, Calamity Jane with Doris Day, there's a number that keeps going and going and going! As an Honorable Mention, the street dance from, Fame ought to be included.

What does Mojo have against Chitty Chitty Bang Bang? Me Old Bamboo is one of the best dance sequences of any movie! The timing along is incredible: Dick Van Dyke has to remain exactly one measure off of the rest of the dancers, and they're dancing with bamboo poles, sometimes bouncing between them. I feel it's far better than Step In Time.

MY FAVORITES:
That's How You Know - Enchanted
Xanadu - Xanadu
America - West Side Story
You Can't Stop the Beat - Hairspray

I Don't Dance - High School Musical 2
Barn Dance - Seven Brides for Seven Brothers

Overall not a bad list, but Ill name a few others I didnt see. Another fun dance scene involving Amy Adams is Ive Got Everything That I Need from the 2011 Muppets movie. Also, the ending prom scene in the original Footloose and the parade scene in Ferris Buellers Day Off are among my favorites.

The dancing is one of the many things i love about That's How You Know i give major props to the dance crew and choreographers they all did an absolutely stupendous job! that's one of the many reasons why i always say that scene was so perfectly performed and excellently executed!

For the Lala Land segment, imagine being there on the road underneath the bridge and just seeing people dancing on their cars for no apparent reason. And then watch the movie and realize that what you saw was actually a scene from a movie being filmed.

I'm just not a fan of Seven Brides and likely would not have included it. America from West Side Story or the opening scenes from All That Jazz strike me as better contenders. And, yes, Dancing Queen rather than Super Trouper.

I really love how Robert repeatedly pointed out how everyone apparently knows Giselle's impromptu song and dance routine. It just adds to the hilarity of the situation, in that nobody else questions the absurdity!

Stop the Rock from Boys and Girls was, in my opinion, better than the choreography in She's all That. I made the comparison because they came out around the same time and both movies star Freddie Prinze Jr

Step In Time from Mary Poppins is nothing short of phenomenal! Its completely spellbinding and addicting! It gets stuck in your head and its my favorite scene from the film

Can't believe they left out that crazy intro to the Moulin Rouge, with all the crazy costumes and frenetic energy, in the movie/musical of the same name.

Too many Honorable Mentions to be a succinct list - and over the top - Twist and Shout from Ferris Buellers Day Off? For shame, not including it.

There are so many more, including my. faves: Dancing Queen from Momma Mia 2, Footloose from Footloose, The Time of My Life from Dirty Dancing,

The old men who get up off the park benches during the Thats How You Know dance number are several of the Chimney Sweeps from Mary Poppins!

One that should have been added or at least mentioned was the dance number from The Music Man with Robert Preston called well. Shipoopi.

A performance you forgot to list was done by Donald O'Connor called make em laugh from the movie singing in the rain. Check it out.

Where cell block tangy from Chicago, lend of Dirty Dancing or the time warp in RockyHorror or any dance from Saturday night Fever.
reply

The only number missing was the American in Paris Ballet. Its a 15 minute number imitating various famous paintings come to life.

I honestly would love to live in a universe where one persons singing can turn into an entire area full of choreographed strangers

I thought The Blues Brothers or The Mask would have been in there somewhere. Just my opinion. Have a great day everyone

this countdown is basically Filipino movies (especially teen-oriented & rom-com genre) during the 1980's to 1990's
