The most amazing fact about SNL is that not all the skits that they plan are shown; they only show the best ones. And that's remarkable because after the first two skits, the entire show is basically unwatchable. The other remarkable fact about the show is that it's still on given that I can't name anyone that has ever said they enjoyed this show since the 70's.

The show still runs long on rare occasions, in my market it sometimes cuts to the next program before the host has an opportunity to say goodbye. On the episode I just watched, the host (Pedro Pascal) thanked the musical guest (Coldplay) and a special guest (Sarah Paulson, and it cut right before the end credits sarted to roll.

If I had a chance to guest host SNL my musical guest would be Lexie Carroll and have her play her new song Violet. A chance to see/hear a potential musical superstar before she goes viral and blows up.

I think the last-minute cuts process was the same for years:
Producer 1: Which sketch should we cut?
Producer 2: Which sketch did Kyle Mooney write tonight?
