Song of the South. Brings to life uncle Remus. A fictional character from a series of books written in the late 1800s. The author was from Atlanta at the time. He wrote the series of books and African-American folktales, such as brown rabbit to show the struggles that African-Americans were going through at that time. Uncle Remus, like a sharecropper. As he was in the film. People see the whole story, Abra rabbit, and the tar baby as racist. But that couldnt be further from the truth. If you actually sit down and read the uncle Remus, rare rabbit stories, he will understand that they are teaching a lesson. all people saw was this person made out of tar on the screen and assumed that that was supposed to be a caricatures of a black person. And that is not what it was intended as. All I can say is go read the stories they are written by. Joe Chandler Harris. The books were published in 1881. They are African-American folktales featuring characters such as Burr fox & burr rabbit.
Paris was an author in the post more reconstruction Atlanta. Once you read those stories, and then you watch some of the south, you will have a different view of it.

You do realize that these are just movies. And theres nothing wrong with revenge of the nerds. Yes they got boys and beat up. Penny rides were a thing in college back in the day. They were an actual thing. The movie is just funny. The Nerds end up winning at the end. Even though they are harassed and their frat house is destroyed. And the one nerd even gets the pretty girl. The whole point of this movie is that letting everyone know that everyone feels different. And were all nerds underneath and were all king in that. Just watch the final five or 10 minutes of the movie. It comes down to that speech. Thats what the whole movie is basically about. Get off your woke. Oh my god my little feelings are hurt high horse. I just watched as a funny movie.

Theres nothing wrong with weird science. It is a teenage boys fantasy movie. Kelly Lebrock turned out in the movie to be the smartest person in the entire movie. She proves it. Especially when she gets revenge on Wyatts older brother Chet. I dont find it being mean to her at all. I dont hear these type of complaints about the magic Mike movies. If you want to play the same standard that youre using for weird science and you have to say that the whole male stripper thing in the magic Mike Movies is very demeaning. both Wyatt and Gary in weird science learning lesson from what theyve done. They find real love with real girls. As I said, theres really nothing wrong with weird science.

Cancel culture has reached absolute insanity.
Id say: The Jerk, Blazing Saddles, Airplane, The Silence of the Lambs, Mrs. Doubtfire, The Bad News Bears, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, Gettysburg, Falling Down, Three Amigos, Gran Torino, Midnight Express, A Fish Called Wanda, the Dirty Harry movies, and almost any John Wayne movie.
I dont remember why, but didnt some people say Gremlins is racist because the Gremlins act black? Huh?
Its sort of a forgotten film; does anyone remember White Mans Burden, with Travolta & Harry Belafonte, from the mid 90s?

Last, but not least, lets talk about soul man. Thats just horrible right because hes black face in this movie but its OK for the Wayans brothers to use white face and dress is white chicks in the movie White chicks. Personally, I dont really see a difference. If you cant do one you cant do the other. So why isnt white chicks on this list? Thats quite racist to me. If you can say hey you cant do black face but its OK to do. White bass if youre black. Sorry that standards gotta go even all the way across the board for everyone or no one.

I love soul Man and I think it's one of the greatest movies ever. Also people should be a shame for what they did to song of the South, that was one of my favorite movies growing up and I even went to see Uncle Remus cabin. So that you all know yes he was a real person and he is loved unlike the people of today. He was our inspiration that's how all we little white children learn things. My grandpa love that movie and told us the respect black people that way. He treated all people equal it didn't matter what their color was.

Is he schizophrenic or does he have multiple personality disorder, now known as Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID? Because they are FAR FROM the same thing, and it seems really strange that even as late as the early 00s, Hollywood was not distinguishing between the two. Also, wasn't there a movie about a guy pretending to be developmentally disabled so he could win the Special Olympics, or something weird like that. And that one with Gary Oldman pretending to be a little person?

Gone with the Wind was vitally important to the era of its production, bringing the tormented reality of slavery and the Civil War South to life in CinemaScope fashion. the plotline may be about Scarlet and Rhett, but the story is about what happens around them. and the film portrays that viscerally, i. e, Rhett's canons speech about war, the burning of Atlanta, the flight back to Tara, the Reconstruction Tara all speak closely to Margaret Mitchell's point in the novel. KDM

Idk, i think Shallow Hal worked because the lead and his friend were also not attractive but held views against others due to being insecure about their own looks. And the woman that would be considered socially acceptable beautiful was deeply unattractive while Hal was under the spell. I think the biggest faux pas in it was using that fake guru who has been accused of all sorts of nefarious things as the one who puts the spell or block on Hal's mind.

I think Chuck & Larry deserve a pass. They werent making light of insurance fraud. They were using that as a comedic mechanism to point out that at the time, gay couples could not receive health, financial benefits or any other type from their partners. They made it two straight men as a means to normalcy that plight, that and they still wanted to make it a comedy. This movie couldve been a drama with two gay men, but comedy reaches a wider audience.

6: 40 YOU DID NOT JUST SAY ROB SCHNIEDER IS PLAYING YELLOW FACE!
The movie is crap, but I grew up in Pacifica where he is also from, and hes half filipino. One of the largest population outside of the Philippines, and I find it INCREDIBLY racist to say that about him. You LITERALLY could have just looked him up on wikipedia. Fun fact: I really dont like him as a person, but I had to call you out in that.

I see the only reason these cannot be remade is politics, and/or societies portrayal of itself, changing. Which is humanity as a whole refusing to see how far we've come from where we've been.
IE: Just as people would hate to see a Live Action Disney Tiana movie with a white lead, I feel just as offended by a black Ariel.
But. Who cares about that in this day and age?

Why are people always putting hate on Song of the South? That is a good movie that is about a rich white kid befriending a poor black kid and a poor white girl while listening to stories that are based on actual stories that were told by slaves. Nothing in that movie is racist unless actually seeing the historical conditions of the times are something we don't talk about.

Sure, the secret pictures of the sorority girls was very bad in Revenge of the Nerds but you failed to mention the most atrocious act committed in that movie. When the nerd violated the girl by pretending to be her boyfriend, and then when she found out, instead of being horrified, she was pleasantly surprised. A completely appalling act played for laughs.

I am a couple years short of being a Millennial but I love all the movies from the 80s and the ones in the video and yes I can see that theses movies can be controversial but to say that they don't have a place in cinema history is wrong. All of these movies were made in different decades, so they reflect that. People are super sensitive, and it's sad

Ever notice how Can't be made today makes it more valuable? There are people who would rather read trigger warning in front of a film instead of never seeing the car crash. Why? 2 reasons - 1. Historical memory of what was wrong in the first place. 2. Reacting to the cringiness of each issue is like a horror movie. You want to be scared.

Well personally I loved many of these movies, I remember watching weird science probably 100 times, Richard Pryor in The Toy and Jim Carry in Me Myself & Irene were both well acted rolls regardless of the topic. There are some things that are considered bad but I think its BS that we are so sensitive about EVERYTHING these days. Smh

Unpopular opinion, I don't see anything wrong with the movie Toy. Richard Pryor's character was not a Slave. He was an employee. He was paid to do a job.
Regardless of why he took the job he took the job.
And, from what I remember, he was paid very well for that job. At least at the time that the movie was taking place.

Mike Myers character in The Love Guru is not Indian. It's established during the flashbacks that he's a white kid who was raised in an ashram after his parents died. Ben Kingsley in brown face though. yeah not great. It's still funny though, not a classic by any stretch of the imagination but nonetheless, I enjoyed it.

When I saw The Toy I never thought race was an issue. It was just a snobbish kid who wanted RP which he later said because he made him laugh. Their time together grew into a close friendship and the kid even I've up his rich life to live with Pryor's character which he objected but later they all worked it out.

Love guru wasn't an Indian character, ghost in a shell, gone with the wind will always be a classic, me myself abd Irene was hilarious, Chuck and Larry was also funny though not one of Adam Sandlers best. You guys are bassi lyrics pointing out why so many modern entertainment is so boring and preachy

They're a couple I would agree with but for the most part I think you may be missing the point of the movies. They teach lessons. without movies like some of these we wouldn't grow as a society. Like in shallow hal, it wasn't encouraging fat shaming it was shinning a light on it.

Back in the day we understood the movies were funny because they were over the top stereotype made for humor. But if we want to buy pick. What about white chicks. The Waynes brothers played stereotypical white women and nobody seems to care.

I agree that The Toy couldn't be made today. But the plot of the movie is the boy is so isolated from his father and starved for love and affection, he will resort to buying it. The conclusion is a better relationship with his father.

I thought Shallow Hal was a good film because it makes the audience see what fat people have to go through. It also shows how unfair and wrong the bad treatment of fat people is and hopefully people will think twice before making a fat joke.

Thank god Blazing Saddles isn't on this list. Everyone keeps saying, You couldn't make Blazing Saddles now. And why would you? The genre it was parodying, which was television westerns, doesn't even exist anymore. It'd be pointless.

So basically nothing in that list is problematic at all and ist just here because of todays snowflake society which is not able to differentiate between the reallity and what they think a movie or any other Media describes.

Nah the only reason they wont be able to remake Me, Myself and Irene is because its an absolute CLASSIC and Jim Carey and Renee (not going to try to spell her name) set the bar way too high for anyone else to be able to redo.
