When I was a kid I felt like I could fit in with anybody due to the fact that I loved cartoons and I was Pokemon's number one fan and all of my friends went along with me even creating endless stories over them.
Yet once I started becoming a preteen and a teenager and I became Sonic the Hedgehog's number one fan everything changed.
It was like everyone had moved on from cartoons and making up stories over them but me.
I had friends who loved cartoons, yes, but it was like I was more into them than they were and while I did embrace reality more I felt like they cared more about reality in some ways more than me.
It really made me feel like a total outcast especially since I made up three novels that were over a thousand pages over Sonic and his show, Sonic X, with my own twist and spin.
To make matters worse I saw in teenage books and teenage things that claimed to relate with me and all it was about was about teens talking about boys, talking about reality, talking about makeup, talking about girlie girl things like fashion, things that I'm not at all into.
That really made me feel like a lot of Disney princesses out there or outcast characters out there who is the only one who can't do or aren't into the things that other characters are into.
Ariel is my favorite Disney Princess and she's the only one who longs for the human world and not her own world, Rapunzel is my second favorite and she fights for her dreams like I do, and Mirabel is one of my favorite Disney Princesses yet she starts off not ordinary in everyone else's eyes only to wind up extraordinary in the end.
I also was diagnosed with autism when I was 26 so it explains why I felt so out of place in some ways even though I was great at making friends.
Im 29 now.
Reality is more important and I have embraced it even as a teenager and a preteen but I cant deny that I have a love for fantasy more so than others out there if that makes sense.
I now feel extraordinary in the end just like Mirable and I have a boyfriend who is in lots of ways like me and loves me for who I am and I have found people like me in real life and on the internet. So I found myself.
I love it! EEP! :)

Relatable Disney Heroins
Moana - I relate to Moana the most because I have always loved the feeling of safe and content by the water and I have grown up by the beach its always been my safe place for me to escape from all the pressures of life.
Meg- I relate to Meg secondly like her I cant love easily. Just like Meg she had always been taken advantage of and been used thats a terrible feeling and has had past relationships that never made her feel loved by any guy. I know that feeling really well.
Anastasia- I relate to Anastasia thirdly like her I am fluent in sarcasm but I can be stubborn easily. I have always had a strong sense of determination and dont have others in my way to reach to my dream job even though Anastasia was bound to go to Paris that was her dream.
Belle- I relate to Belle fourth like her I have always felt out of place and love to escape into reading books. Most importantly though she sees the beauty of seeing someone in a whole new light like myself.
Wendy- I relate to Wendy fifth I have always had a vivid imagination. Also I have always been know as a mother figure among my friends. I feel like I grew up to quickly not ready to be a young adult just like Wendy.
Raya-lastly I relate to Raya like her I dont really open up to others that easy. I have to get to know them first. I am really headstrong woman who can adapt to situations even if its out of my hands sadly. I deeply care for loved ones that have always been there for me even though I cant trust others and even though its a bad/ toxic friendship or relationship with someone my big heart gets in the way.

Lets who do i relate to more well, that is a tougher cause i am a combination of all of them to some degree, i am like Mirabel in personality wise because when i was growing i felt different to everyone else, and for me as a teenager that was really hard to go through especially school, but i never changed myself to fit in i was like a green thumb sticking out of the crowd, i do like Tiana a lot how she is hard worker and dosent need a man to make her feel happy i think that all females can relate to that to some degree and a tough female character, i can also relate to Elsa with my anxiety and how she has to control her feelings or in this case her ice powers so i can relate to that, i also can relate to Snow White because she was the only princess before Belle that had pale white skin and brown eyes and red lips, because when i was growing up i was the only girl that i knew that had white pale skin, brown eyes brown eyebrows and brown hair and for me personally that was a bit weird cause i didnt see anyone else on screen like that until i saw Snow White came onto the screen and i am like wow thats me as a princess if i were a princess i would be Snow White, cause she was the only one that i could relate to appearance, when Belle came along i was wow thats me as well cause she had pale skin and brown eyes and brown hair so i felt heard in a way.

Meg is one of the few heroines that have a past relationship. All other Disney princesses/heroines I can think off have no prior experience with men before meeting the prince charming - in the older movies it's because they are so very young and often locked away and protected, and in the newer movies there are other reasons, for example Tiana being only focused on her career. In contrast, many of the prince charmings are seen being playboys before meeting the heroin, or they have at least been out and about, seeing the world and meeting different people. The man is also, with no exception, older than the woman. This is one of my pet peeves and I really hope future movies will make this picture more nuanced. (Then of course there are the heroines that don't have any romantic interests at all, which is also a great addition in newer movies.

Kara,
I can give you 8 to 10 of them I relate to but I'm also in my 50s and I've lived a good portion of my life and know where it's been and somewhat of where it's going. The strongest connections are to Mirabel for how she was treated in her family and Elsa for when I finally broke free from the idea that I would ever get the love and acceptance that I had been living my whole life for (in other words, I spent my childhood and into my early 20s living the life my family wanted me to live in hopes it would gain me their love. It never was going to happen so I had to make that happen for myself.
The others are pieces of Belle, Esmeralda, Anna, Rapunzel, Merida, Mulan and Ariel. I would guess that many of us have more than one of them in us because they are relatable characters on purpose.

Honestly, I think Helen and Violet Parr should've been on this list.
Helen is always looking out for the people she loves making sacrifices. While this doesn't feel like sacrifice to her she does realize in the second movie that it's important to also go for what she wants.
Violet was relatable for me because she felt like she was an outcast too. While she did find her own inner and outer beauty she did still have to deal with her awkwardness in the second movie. Also her bickering with Dash was very relatable. Same thing with my siblings. We could bicker, we could fight, but when we really needed it we would protect eachother, hug eachother and show nothing but love for eachother. And now that we're older my brother and sister are my best friends!

For me, its a combination of Tiana, Mirabel and Anna. Now that my dad has semi-retired to part time hours, my forty hours a week makes me the current hardest worker in the family, but both my parents have had to work harder in the past. Compared to the rest of my family, I feel unreliable and not as clever. I also didnt realize what struggles my older brother was going through because I had struggles of my own. Where Im closer to Tiana is that my dream is to be alone. I can think about what the perfect guy might be like, but that doesnt mean hell exist, let alone like me. But other characters keep trying to force her to believe in love.
And obviously I have traded body parts to a sea witch.

Ok, there are actually some personality traits from Aurora from the few parts of the story.
She smirks sarcastically at the aunts/fairies because apparently, they are keeping secrets for her, and she can tell. She feels trapped and made immature by them because she shouldn't talk to strangers.
When her true identity is revealed, she is depressed because her free life with the new true love is ruined and she is forced to do even more things she doesn't want to do. That vulnerability was utilized by Maleficent, so she could be hypnotized - that was scary.
So yes, I think she wanted something to say about the story but the fairies wouldn't let her - even if it is of good will.

There is no one singular heroine I fully relate to. 16 year old me definitely would relate to Ariel the most (like dang, parents be a drag. The bibliomanic side of me relates to Bell's thirst for knowledge and love for being taken to another world. I relate to Mulan in the whole masking oneself and not really always showing who I am. I relate to Merida in that I want to do things my own way. I relate to Lilo in that I don't feel like I really fit in and that others just see me as odd. Anna, well, that girl is as ADHD as they come, and like, same. The list could go on forever. But honestly, it's something I love. I love to be able to find small parts of myself in a multitude of characters.

As the older sister I relate to Merida, Isabela, Luisa and Elsa. They must be the example and they have to be what their parents want them to be and do everything they expect. This is so much pressure and they do anything to protect their younger siblings even from themselves but they crave for freedom and they finally just want to be themselves and be accepted as who they are without having to explain themselves to anyone. Sometimes they have to be drastic to finally get their freedom because it sure as hell doesn't come for free.

Belle feels relatable and makes me feel seen as I've never felt like I fit in anywhere either and I often put everyone before myself, which includes most of my family. In frozen I do wish they would give Elsa a love interest through. Rapunzel was always my favorite story as a kid. My sister used to tell it to me and I thought that she made it up. I think that I loved that story more than the other fairytales because at the end she saves herself and there weren't many stories then where the girl saves herself.

Until Mirabel Madrigal, there was 0 dark haired princesses in the Disney cannon when I was a little girl in the 1970s. So I definitely could relate to Snow White when I was growing up, even if it was only in looks, forgetting about political correctness.
But then again political correctness had nothing to do with fairytales when I was growing up, thats why they were called fairy tales. It was a form of escapism/a perfect world. We all knew it didnt exist, but it was fun.

The ones I feel most related to are Megara, I am also a lonely and sarcastic person, and to Esmeralda, because as an outcast I've always been (although not for the same reason than her, I've suffered the discrimination (bullying) from other people. But I would like to think that I keep being myself despite that, and I keep having my strong attitude despite all hate

No Wendy Darling! Wendy is the very epitome of relatable. We've all liked somebody that we shouldn't have, been turned by a pretty face and a pretty head. And then she chooses her own self happiness over a potentially toxic relationship. And on top of that she's making that mature decision at 12 years old. Personally I think she doesn't get enough credit.

For me, Belle and Ariel have always been the most relatable characters to me. They are in my top 2. Like Belle, I'm also a bookworm and always dreamed of something more exciting in life. I, especially, felt that more in my early 20s. And like Ariel, I also have that adventurous spirit and want to explore the world.

I think I can relate to Esmerellda, Mulan, Bell and the Native American Princess most. I was always the smallest of the group but not scared of any bully on the playground. Had a hard time with fitting in and like too mature for my age group. I love to read. Well I am part Native American and had more animal friends.

This list is weird. You say its based on relatability yet somehow you list some characters who we would relate to more such as Esmeralda lower than other princesses. Heck, if you take all the aspect of historical inaccuracies out of Pocahontas, I can relate to her questioning her place in the world.

I see myself in Melody, Belle, Cinderella and Elsa. I am intrigued, wanting to emerse myself in other cultures, resourceful, introverted, never wanting to hurt anyone until necessary, a rule follower, practical, thoughtful and have tons of pressure on myself with no confidence to back it up.

You are forgetting that without some help, without other people you won't achieve a success in your life. Cindirella and Snow White story shows us that you need friends even if you were born as a princess, cause when you loose money things get rough. They are relatable.

As a black American male who also lives in a majority white nation Esmerelda story was really inspiring, I can definitely understand the pain of discrimination for simply being different from the majority of the population, the same apply with Judy Hops in Zootopia as well.

I'm sorry but this list is kinda pointless since all the princesses can be relatable in one way or another and I think it's kinda harsh on what you said about Snow White since I find her relatable in being empathetic as well as willing to help out in anyway.

I always thought Belle, Moana, Mirabel, Anna are relatable to me. Belle because she is a bookworm like me, mirabel feels she doesnt fit in like me, Anna is clumsy like me and talks a lot, and Moana because of how headstrong she is.

Esmeralda and Megara should be higher in the ranking. They're amazing heroines, down-to-earth and brave. And their life stories are more mature than others. I'm glad that at least Tiana is 2nd, she's so determined and resourceful.

I guess as usual, and for some weird reason, Merida is the only Pixar heroine allowed on this list; however, Mei is the most relatable Disney character for anyone who was in middle school in the early 2000s.
