The office UK ending is perfection. My partner loves the US one and is
We debate this. a lot! My thought is (as much as I love Jim and Pam) they lose their purpose. They were better than dunder Mifflin, they needed to move on (but was aware that you don't want to lose two characters from your show. Which is where I love Tim and Dawn in the UK one, Tim makes her remember her dream of being an illustrator And they leave at the Christmas party.
Same with Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant's Extras where they discuss fame VS integrity and the speech Ricky's character, Andy says on the big brother type show!
They write beautifully and never do more than 2 series and a Christmas special!

I'm at an absolute loss. How can you even CONCEIVE a list of moment-defining television episodes and not include even ONE episode of the original run of The Twilight Zone? Talk about seriously dropping the ball! I mean, Talky Tina, Maple Street, To Serve Man. You don't even need to say the full titles, just those words, and anyone who actually knows television can describe the entire episode, its twist, and the intent of that episode of Rod Serling's phenomenal showcase. Like, I'm legit kinda angry over this! LOL. Somebody's gonna get wished into the cornfield over this omission!

How was the Fresh prince of Bel Air and his dad leaving episode not mentioned here! Red flag lmao but fr. In terms of impact it was one of the few times father abandonment was portrayed on tv. It terms of relevance its STILL a tear jerker and highly recognized today regardless.
I feel like watchmojo could use more black writers or producers because there is just a whole other half of television/movies they completely forget to talk about in most of these lists

WHERE is the final episode of the Newhart Show, where Bob Newhart, who has been manning the front desk at an inn in Vermont being sold to some Japanese golf magnate wakes up in bed with his first costar Suzanne Pleshette on the set of his original show, The Bob Newhart Show which had wrapped several years before, telling her he had a dream tin which he was an innkeeper in this crazy little town in Vermont. It was brilliant! It should be on your list.

Sorry, but this list is ridiculous. It simply does not fit the title. Cultural reset implies that they have a lasting impact in everyday life or at least pop culture and yet some of these episodes aired very recently and some are all but forgotten. Some even seem entirely random? I feel like you wanted to make a completely different list but for some reason you decided to entitle it like that.

The next to last This is Us episode was pretty groundbreaking. To see what was going through Rebeccas failing mind before her death was heartbreaking and an interesting way of piecing the puzzle of her life together weaving threads from all of the seasons. I think the show should have ended at the last shot of that episode. I cried so hard I couldnt breathe.

Breaking Bad was a masterclass in powerful writing and acting. I am not in danger. I AM the danger has never left my memory. I must say, though, that although you've included it on other lists, the MASH finale and Pierce's reveal were probably the most memorable moments of TV in my lifetime.

I agree with others' mention of The Body from Buffy. Season 1 finale of Severance was incredible in its story-telling, character development and edge of your seat tension. Better Call Saul should have been included somewhere. And agree re episode 3 of the first season of Last of Us.

Ok seriously how is Through the Looking Glass, Part 2 not on here? That episode delivered one of the craziest Plot twists/Cliffhangers in tv history with the utterance of We have to go back and another crazy moment with Not Penny's boat. Lost should've been on this list!

The fact that Buffy's musical episode Once More With Feeling is not even included in here, when it should be #1, makes this list completely ridiculous for me lol
Reset culture is exactly what Buffy did on a regular basis! Hush, The Body, Once More With Feeling, etc

Um, #1: Who Shot JR?
This was the biggest event in TV history. It had the entire country buzzing for an entire summer, demonstrating the power of a great season-ending cliffhanger. It also showed that soap operas could be a force to be reckoned with in prime time.

Surprise there was no mention of Ted Lasso's season one finale and especially Stranger Things's Dear Billy. That last one really set a cultural reset, made the show even more popular and even introduce a song decades long to mainstream audiences again
reply

Most of these would not qualify as cultural reset worthy. And, its worth noting that just as a good episode does not automatically give it a cultural reset honour, so also a cultural reset episode does not automatically make it a good episode.

How can Buffy the Vampire Slayer's Once More, With Feelings be left off this list, not even as an Honorable Mention? They pioneered having musical episodes as a normal part of television series and broke our hearts at the same time.
reply

I cannot believe The Diamond Dogs (S1E8 of Ted Lasso) didnt make this list, even as an honorable mention. The darts scene alone entirely reframed societys perception of bullying, mental health, & personal growth.
reply

WandaVision does a great job of portraying the stages of loss with Previously On representing shock. I'd go into detail on how each episode brings them to life, but it should be seen to be believed

Grey's Anatomy Season 1 finale when Addiaon shows up and blew all our minds with one single line Hi I'm Addison Sheperd. And you must be the woman who's been screwing my husband
reply

Schitt's Creek's Open Mic episode - it nailed the show's tone and that was the one that really made the whole series go viral. You'll never hear The Best the same way.

Shocked that Twin Peaks the Return (S3) episode 8 or the finale didnt at least make honorable mentions! Those were absolutely brilliant and David Lynch at his most genius
reply

How's game of thrones not here. The 9th episode in season 1 really spearheaded the feeling of unsafe protagonists, which other series have tried to make a version of

That Goodbye, Farewell, Amen isnt even an honorable mention is all the evidence necessary to realize this list isnt worth much of anything.
reply

CULTURAL RESET? BY WHOSE STANDARDS? Television shows aren't really that important to normal people living and working in the real world.
reply

This is a horrible list. Most of us didnt watch these shows and your definition of cultural impact leaves a lot to be desired.
reply

I was surprised by Fleabag. I didn't know anything about it and was expecting a quirky comedy. But it was rather deep and complex.
reply

Why did Breaking Bad, which began in 2008, become popular in 2013? If it's great, why was it almost ignored for five years?
reply

Lost season 3 finale, Game of Thrones the red wedding and some other GOT episodes could've and should've been on this list

Hank dying was gut wrenching. My heart just breaks each time I think about it. So thanks Watch Mojo for the moment
reply

I would add Agents of Shield episode 1x17 to the list. It really shifted things between Marvel TV and movies.

March 6, 1981 - Walter Cronkite's last newscast. And that's the way it is. And nothing has been the same since.
