Love your vids but you blew it by not finding a place for Bonnie Raitts I Cant Make You Love Me, especially given some of the songs you chose. Dancing Queen? I love Dancing Queenbut in this list? And since you gerrymandered your criteria for Dancing Queen, why not Layla by Derek and the Dominos? The piano doesnt really arrive until the solo, but its all about the pianoI can forgive the absence of Layla but not the absence of I Cant Make You Love Me no, I take that back, I cant forgive either. But at least Im consuming your content, right?

Hungry Heart by Bruce Springsteen, Total Eclipse Of The Heart/Holding Out For A Hero by Bonnie Tyler, Two Out Of Three Ain't Bad/I'd Do Anything For Love. by Meatloaf and Making Love Out Of Nothing At All by Air Supply would have been worthy inclusions (I think Roy Bittan played on all of these as well. Sunrise by Nora Jones is also up there in my opinion.

What, no Tori Amos or Kate Bush? They both literally are described as a girl and a piano style. I wouldn't expect Fiona Apple in but man, there are songs that bearly have any piano in, let alone play an iconic role in it, I would expect at least Crucify or Cornflake girl in and Wuthering Hights in if Carlton can make it to the top.

In a sense, Adele's Someone Like You should've been #1 since it became the first US #1 single that featured only piano accompaniment to the vocal. Pretty much all the rest of the songs relied on some sort of percussion or guitar work to bolster the song. Someone Like You uses only Adele's vocals and the piano.

Right Here Waiting by Richard Marx is terrific as well. I'm surprised you don't have an honorable mention to this list. Anything by Journey or STYX could be plastered all over this list. Keep On Loving You by REO Speedwagon could make a great case too
reply

I would have added Ben Folds Landed, Neil Sedakas Laughter in the Rain or Love will keep us together, Barry Manilow and the Carpenters. Chicago and The Little River Band. And The Babys Isnt it Time. And nothing released after 2001

While this video is focused on the piano, I absolutely love when orchestral pieces blend well into a song. Nightswimming has a beautiful arrangement. I absolutely love the one in Tonight, Tonight by the Smashing Pumpkins as well.
reply

Some songs I would've also put in-Total Eclipse of The Heart Bonnie Tyler, Get Down Gilbert O'Sullivan, Video Killed The Radio Star The Buggles, I Don't Like Mondays The Boomtown Rats, Elton John's Candle In The Wind

First of all, Vanessa Carlton's song 1000 Miles is not about 'longing love' it's about grief after losing a loved one. Look it up.
Second, how dare you not include Tori Amos. Really?
You are now unfollowed.

Thank you for Queen mentioning. But I think in this top Millionaire Waltz by Queen fits better. Lots of harmonies with great piano. But agree, that not a pop song definitely. Rhapsody is not too)
reply

Glad to see The Piano Man is in the list, but I think Alone Again by Gilbert O'Sullivan should has at least an honorable mention, same goes to songs from The Carpenters, Richard is/was a pretty good pianist.
reply

Add two piano driven songs from Joe Jackson - Stepping Out & Breaking Us in Two.
Another that had mentioned here in the comments is Alone Again (Naturally) by Gilbert OSullivan.

You should do a countdown of Elton John songs!
I really wish you had included My Immortal. One of my fav songs ever. Someone You Loved too. It deserved to be on the list

reply

Almost anything by Tori Amos, Wuthering Heights by Kate Bush, Worn down piano by the Mark & Clark Band, All by myself by Eric Carmen, just to name a few missing songs.
reply

In Imagine John Lennon is literally singing the Communist manifesto. Truthfully, Your Song is great, but I would have chosen Elton John's Candle in the Wind instead.
reply

How did Tori Amos not make this list? Do they classify her as rock? Her music is centered around the piano. Which makes sense considering she is a prodigy.
reply

Let It Be is not only a bop, but culturally significant, being the Beatle's last single before spitting up. It definitely leaves a big impact.
reply

Not a single Nina Simone song but you've got time for an Abba track with barely legible piano? No Pyramid Song or Karma Police by Radiohead? FOH.
reply

Any track from Elton John to the number 1 could have been number 1. An amazing collection of great piano music.
reply

So, thats where Tupac/2pac inspires the song Changes; The Way It Is by Bruce Hornsby. Its a good piano song.
reply

Would have liked to watch this video but the vocal fry is unbearable. Off to another video for another list.
reply

I couldnt figure out what number 1 was until about 5 seconds before you said itthats my song. I love it.
reply

Great list! I wouldve included Jerry Lee Lewis, Scott Joplin and early black pianists of the 1930s/ 1940s
reply

Just starting and REALLY hoping for some Tori Amos. Cornflake Girl? Silent All These Years? Winter?
