Back then in 2014, the critical reception of Brynhildr in the Darkness(2014) has mostly been negative with many reviewers comparing it to the 2004 anime series Elfen Lied. The anime have overuse the harem antics and cliches to the extent that the series often feels more like an ecchi harem comedy as opposed to a serious sci-fi/horror series.
But as of 2015 onward: The Anime series is getting much love these days but also hated at the same time and that's fine with me It doesn't mater if people rather love or hate the anime series. The anime is still being remembered Today for BETTER or WORSE.
People should watch this mixed-up genre Horror anime series to Watch If You Hate Horror or this anime series.
I still love Brynhildr in the Darkness(2014) and the HORROR Genre NO MATTER WHAT.

I hate horror movies but I love What We Do in the Shadows. Other ones I'd recommend for people who like more comedic movies but with a dash of horror are Shaun of the Dead and Zombieland. They both primarily comedies but set in a post-zombie-infection world and include a few decent horror scenes. I would also go back to the classics since those are less likely to have more modern tropes that could turn off some people like excessive blood or jump scares. Cabinet of Dr. Caligari is really fun and has a cool gothic aesthetic if you're willing to go back to silent era movies. There's also some Hitchcock movies like Psycho, Vertigo, and Rebecca which could be more classified as thrillers but have horror elements in them and are fantastic.

Evil Dead 2 and Cabin In The Woods are full on horror. What do you want to put next Hellraiser, The Exorcist and The Thing. I doubt a non horror movie fan(my parents for example, would want to watch Evil Dead 2 or Cabin In The Woods. Put more tone down horror type movies like Ghostbusters or Gremlins, as they could be for younger viewers, but both do have pretty scary moments, but without full blown horror. My parents have both seen Ghostbusters or parts of it, so its not full blown horror, as they hate the genre.

The Shining and The Ring deserve to be on this list. I saw them for the first time ever last year around Halloween just because I wanted to get into the spirit and they werent as bad as I thought, although The Shining did rattle me a little bit. As someone whos prone to jump scares due to being a very jumpy person, thats what got me the most. But at least theyre low end enough for me to watch them again this year if I get the chance

Even if you haven't watched a ton of the horror classics, things like Scary Movie are still fun for people who just want to participate in the spirit of the season or pick up part of the social/pop-cultural aspects. The Wayans family can bring anybody together for a good time! :)

Nope. Nope. Nope. But thanks for reminder me why I'm STILL not a horror fan. IF I had to to choose which not horror movie to watch I'd pick, The Menu, Picnic At Hanging Rock, Christine, The Invisible Man, Misery, Berberian Sound Studio.

Flowers in the Attic! That one was a blast thanks to Louise Fletcher! She could have easily walked aside Jessica Lange and Kathy Bates in the AHS series! Still love here reacuring role as Kai Winn in Star Trek.
reply

I've watched The Menu and Happy Death Day; both movies I find very funny, suspenseful, and a bit scary but not too much. I might look away if there's a scene involving blood, but it was worth a watch.

You forgot Scream, The Shining, and The Blair Witch Project! And btw as someone who doesn't like horror movies I don't think Cabin in the Woods qualifies for list, too damn scary!

Vincent Price films such as The Raven, the invisible man returns, the haunted palace, the tingler or house of usher etc are also excellent ways to merge into the genre.

A few movies that I thought should have been on this list were Frankenweenie Young Frankenstein Corpse Bride The Nightmare Before Christmas and Little Shop of Horrors.

Horror films scare me, my sister made me watch barbarian and I couldnt handle it. I can handle movies that dont have jump scares or extremely gory stuff
