we’re looking at the biggest bombshells from Investigation Discovery’s 4-part exposé about Nickelodeon. Our countdown includes Drake Bell was John Doe, traumatizing On-Air Dares, treatment of the female casts, and more! Did you watch Quiet on Set Watching this now.
1) Adults who market at kids [for profit] are just plain crooked, this cohort doesn't even have an income.
2) Loads of powerful/wealthy men in their 60's are shttng their keks. Victims are being listened to for the 1st time in 00's of years.
3) Adults are STILL discussing Crimes Against Minors using lingo they reserve for love making = this is why the rich old guys are not going to prison/staying in prison.
4) There is no such thing as Attraction To Minors, it's just Adults bullying kids.

As a woman who was sxually hrassed by her grandfather, I can tell you this: for me, the situation of these young actors is comparable to my experience. You don't choose your family. and you don't choose what happens at your job. There will always be people in our environment who will want to take advantage of us in many ways. The question is whether we have anyone to report it to, or whether we are aware that the situation does not have to be swept under the carpet. Do we understand what rights we have, can we come to terms with how we have been hurt without closing ourselves off and simply forgetting about such a toxic situation that destroys us from the inside Because to me it is obvious that no matter how much we repress our memories - they are still stuck in our minds and, what's worse, they have a huge impact on our future and the way we act. Therefore, dear young people. stop evil before it draws you to its side. Talk about your traumas and absolutely do not allow anyone to prey on your innocence.
I believe you.

A lot of people aren’t going to like hearing this but I think this actually improved Dan Schneiders reputation. Yes I understand the jokes and whatever else behind the scenes to women were disgusting but aside from that, he’s getting unwarranted blame. He was not a pedo. Drake stated Dan was the only one there for him when all of that happened. The inappropriate jokes on the show were not just Dan. The shows had dozens of writers and as he stated, all shows were ran by executives and higher ups before being released. I don’t think Dan is a great guy but there’s a lot of child actors that say they had great experiences on his show. He just doesn’t deserve the same hate as the two actual pedos on the set
reply

That was certainly A Lot to unpack in both episodes, I feel really bad for these kids, NO ONE Should Ever be subjected to that. I already don't like Dan Schneider enough but honesty, I hate that Brian Peck guy even more & The fact that he only got 16 months for what he did is Disgusting Injustice. The impression I got throughout this is that Dan Schneider was Manipulative, verbal abusive & The I'm the boss so I can do what I want & he indeed oversaw a bunch of pedophiles which is Sickening. Simply put, Acting is a dirty game
All in all, I wish all these folks the best going forward, especially Drake & May they all find peace

I saw the documentary, and it was amazing. Emotional too. As much as I have always been a Nick Kid, I think that it's just so horrible that the company has always done stuff like this. I have been appalled by what went on in its history. NOT JUST nickelodeon, but other Hollywood tv and movie companies. Even those that make children content. I think that this documentary is very important to watch, so that we can have a better future for Hollywood's main staple production & its employees. Instead of doing things like this. Our childhood favorite networks & Companies or even into our adulthood. We need to do better.

While it's obviously extremely disturbing what these adults were doing and they belong in prison. I have to ask where were the parents. They allowed this to go on by knowing what was happening.
Take the mum of the girl who got a dirty picture. You said they didn't report it to police. Why It seems like its the parents who wanted to keep their kids in these shows no matter what.
Can you also speak the truth about Drake Bell please. You haven't mentioned all the things he's been FOUND guilty of. . We have seen it before with abusers.

reply

Meh. The documentary is mainly people giving sound bites. Nothing new was revealed and I'm still waiting on all of the illegal stuff Schneider allegedly did. The guy seems like a gross creep but the Internet keeps proclaiming that he belongs in jail.
The problem is that this doc doesn't really delve into the dark side of kids TV. Not really. I'm not sure if people want the real truth. If you start researching child $ex abuse in Hollyweird, it will lead you down a terrifying rabbit hole that includes Nzis, mind control and the occult.

It’s good this stuff is coming to light but it’s shameful that Dan Schneider aside from being outed as a piece of crap probably won’t face any precautions. Oh well it’s just good to see people speaking out, putting it out there and hopefully and I’m not betting on it the industry goes to bat to protect kids and young adults and teenagers on their sets but like I said I’m not betting on it, I’m sure this goes beyond Nickelodeon and Disney is just as bad and most of Hollywood is bad as hell as well. It’s just a giant shit hole.

This explains why Amanda Bynes had her breakdown. She has a story to tell. Kudos to Drake and others for sharing their story. May it give others strength to do so. Also, the Ariana Grande footage was disturbing. I was definitely a child that watched Nickelodeon, but was an adult by the time shows like Sam and Cat and Drake and Josh came out so I wasn’t watching at that time. I did watch the Amanda Show and yeah looking back, that was disturbing. It’s crazy to see what was allowed to be filmed and aired.
reply

Watching this and then going back to watching to the shows feels wrong, and I say that because even if we already knew stuff was going on behind the scenes that weren’t right we never knew the depth and how bad it actually was, so for example like the Amanda show watching it once and going back after this documentary and seeing the little things in there and then thinking back. Nickelodeon is/was a really sick place to be and it’s crazy how a lot people knew and never said anything it
reply

As a 90’s kid who grew up watching nothing but Nickelodeon shows as a kid and into my adulthood as a kid I didn’t quite understand the significance of the jokes that were written into the shows like all that and the Amanda show etc. now as an 33 year old adult and hearing all these stories from former child actors my mind is blown i already knew about Dan Schneider from reading Jennette mccurdys book after watching the documentary I’m sitting here lost for words
reply

I don't care how controversial it is, I'm gonna say it anyway.
Drake's mom failed him. Your ex-husband told you NOT to leave Drake alone with that man unsupervised, and what do you do YOU LEAVE HIM ALONE WITH THAT MAN UNSUPERVISED! Hell, you even let Drake stay at that pedo's house! While you did call the police and got him arrested, you still failed to protect him by letting that pedo near him without you watching over him! You basically failed as a mother!

reply

Schneider denied every single allegation. How can all these people, from all walks of life to different roles on set and production, ALL be wrong
What’s more troubling and I could be completely wrong but Drake Bell’s experience has affected him so much that I don’t think he realizes that he still protects terrible people (Dan Schneider) no matter how small a role played in a system of unprotected kids compared to Brian Peck’s direct abuse.

I've worked as a child wrangler (in theatre, not TV or film) and I always made damn sure that the kids in my charge were always within arm's reach offstage and within eyesight when they were onstage. At least in theatre, child wranglers are considered the kids' guardians while they're at work & I took that responsibility very seriously. I was creeped on as a tween & I would be damned if I let that happen to kids under my supervision.
reply

Even as a kid, I felt that Amanda Bynes replaced Katrina Johnson because she was obviously going through puberty. Of course, I didn’t think it was as sinister at the time as it turned out to be because we saw that often in kid’s TV shows. It’s sad because she had a natural funny personality that I think they could have started making tween/teen-appropriate sketches for her instead of just casting her to the side.
reply

So now it’s a problem Why are you now just speaking out these young girls need your help but all you wanted was a job and a paycheck. at the time it’s OK but now that it’s all getting put out on blast it’s OK no no you were all accountable for what happened on that show you’re all wrong. All of you are speaking out should be held accountable for everything that had happened with those young girls.
reply

One thing is for sure, I thank all these people who were in the documentary that had these experiences, for telling their stories. We should be thanking them, not bashing them like what would go on from that industry. I am glad I saw both parts. I think it's important to understand well about topics like this, so that we can create a better future, not just for ourselves, but for other people.

I graduated high school in 2015 and even back when I was in middle school, we would talk about the Nickelodeon shows that we all watched/currently watched and point out some of the things were very odd like wow, okay, how did that get allowed on air Like even back in the late 200’s/early 2010’s the demographic who watched the Nick shows were starting to pick up the innuendos
reply

A kid of the 90s and watched Nick all the way up to Sam and Cat at 24. I feel bad for all the actors involved who became abused and disillusioned in Hollywood so young. I remember first hearing about the Dan Schneider rumors in the early 2010s on Twitter and I remember feeling Dan starting gaining too much and leeway to get away with what did. All because his shows were highly rated.
