And I am very shocked because back in the day when they finish the movie they didn't keep any of the sets they tore down and built other movie sets in the same soundstage or Studio and a lot of people are looking for original bricks from the yellow brick road or the background paintings of scenery from the movie because you can tell the difference between the set and background painting and I noticed that when I was very very young add new about anything about artwork in the studio and I would like to know where a lot of the stuff is if anything is from the movie and I was told that somebody stole the actual ruby slippers and they said they were custom-made and they were put in the museum inside of a case and I don't think they were stolen but they can be easily faked because of the quality of the little small circle stitched on sparkly design for the shoes and they were not rubies they were just the color of rubies and they were shiny and sparkly but they were not ruby gems on them

Glinda from the film has been given a bad rap over the years, through no fault of her own, really. There are 2 good witches in the book and 2 wicked ones. The Good Witch in Munchkinland who gives Dorothy the shoes for protection has no idea the shoes can take Dorothy home. The Good Witch of the South, who appears at the end of the book, is the one who knows the shoes can take her home. The MGM film combined the 2 good witches into one character, which is the reason her divulging the knowledge at the end seems calculated and manipulative. Also, the Wicked Witch of the West never appeared in Munchkinland in the book and it was never established (in the book) that the Witch of The East was her sister. In the book, the shoes were not the heirlooms of the WWW, she just wanted them for power. I'm surprised these tidbits were not mentioned as several references regarding the discrepancies between the book and the film were mentioned in other points. Love the video, though! Thank you!

There is one thing that wasn't mentioned in this video. But to be fair, only fans who know the behind the scenes would know this.
The famous deleted scene in this film is the one where the characters sing about the Jitterbug and dance under his influence.
And there's still a line that relates to the Jitterbug. The one where the witch says They'll give you no trouble. I've sent a little insect on ahead to take the fight out of them.
The Jitterbug is the only logical explanation for that line.

In the book the WWW kept Dorothy kidnapped for longer, but was never able to get the shoes when Dorothy had taken them off. One of the few times was when Dorothy was taking a bath, because of the whole water thing. That was nice of the WWW to provide a tub and allowed her to fetch water for it.
(The other time Dorothy took the shoes off was at night, when she slept, but inexplicably the WWW was just as scared of the dark as she was of water, so going into a dark room at night was a no go)

I saw a video one time about the Cowardly Lion and apparently the real guy who dressed up in the costume and at the first of the video and the end of the video it shows that guy on the farm but in a video I saw probably 5 or 10 years ago or so probably longer there was a black guy that said he played the part of the Lion in the movie. I'm not sure if anybody else heard about it or saw the video let me know

As a kid I always thought of Glinda as Aunt Em's Oz counterpart, but back then I didn't pay attention to how they don't look or sound alike. I would still like to think so, but as the movie's version of Oz is all a dream, Glinda could be a representation of how Dorothy sees her aunt. A lovely, kind and caring person who is still firm in her convictions.

Why did Dorothy tell the Scarecrow she’d miss him most of all I always felt bad for the TinMan and The Lion. Did she and The Scarecrow have some kind of a secret tryst we don’t know about I’ve wondered about this since I was a little girl.
BTW: Great job on this list. I thought I knew everything about the WOO. I guess I don’t

As an adult I always laugh about two things related to the ruby slippers! I always fill in with the witch saying. I've got a hot date tonight! when she wants them back so badly; and Dorothy complaining after a while about who's idea it was to have to walk so far on a brick road in pumps! Haha!

Didn’t the Wicked Witch carry around an umbrella Wouldn’t she have melted from the rain I can’t imagine not getting wet ever. It didn’t even cross my mind about bathing. Good catch! And why would someone who can die from water keep a bucket of it in her castle

The bit about scarecrow doing Pythagorean theorem was done in the Simpsons too. Homer does the line exactly like scarecrow while in a bathroom and a guy using one of the stalls corrects him yelling out That's a right triangle ya idiot!

Didn't consider any of these things. I did notice, when I saw it in a movie theater, that some of the Munchkins are clearly watching others doing the steps to one of the dances. Kind of funny but kind of ruined it too.

Fact: theres a prop that can be seen hanging from one of the trees (seen during the song 'off to see the wizard') this prop was thought to be a suicidal munchkin (via being hung. when it actually wasnt

I watched The Wizard of Oz at a local theater for an 80th anniversary showing. I have seen this dozens of times on tv, but had never noticed Toto had his own bed in Dorothy’s room.

I never realized Frank Morgan played so many roles in this film. He really was talented. The film itself is such a technological marvel that never gets old.

I always wonder, is Judy Garland supposed to be playing much younger Dorothy from the book or a 16 year old If the latter I guess that would explain the eye shadow.

About the Wicked Witch's aversion to water, have you ever thought about the idea in the religious circles, that without water there's no baptism

The sum of the squares of the two legs of a right triangle is equal to the square of the hypotenuse. - Pythagaras' actual theory.
