It's too hard to pick just five.
Here are other candidates for ones that shook the genre: Islands in the Stream by Dolly Parton and Kenny Rodgers
Walk this Way by Run-DMC and Aerosmith
Lady Marmalade by Mya, Pink, Lil' Kim, Christina Aguilera and Missy Elliott (as seen in the intro)
Stan by Eminem and Elton John
Beautiful Liar by Beyonce and Shakira

I remember a bit of a joke that came out shortly after Scream was released, that the video proved Michael and Janet really were two different people. (Given the fact that Janet's albums had all come out between Michael's albums and they'd never really been seen interacting publicly anywhere--neither one seemed to be at things like the Grammy Awards at the same time--there'd actually been a bit of a conspiracy theory that all of that work had all really been done by Michael. Granted, no one really believed that but the album timing WAS really a wild coincidence)

What can I say Jason Derulo doesn't make hits unless it's a collaboration of some kind. His song Savage Love didn't hardly chart until BTS was brought in for a collaboration. Then it climbed the charts to make it into Billboard's top 10. When he won an award, after BTS made the song successful, he thanked everyone but BTS during his speech. Not COOL!
Seriously look at his song library, 95% are collabs. The man can't be successful on his own!
The song with Little Mix, definitely should have been without him!

Thank you.
1. Dancing in the Streets by Mick and David should be excluded.
a. It was created to promote 1985 Live-Aid, dual daylong concerts in Philly and London for the Ethopian famine.
b. Apparently, they spent the minimal on the song and video for the cause.
2. Maybe, replace it with State of Shock by Mick and theJacksons. It originally was supposed to be a duet by MJ and Freddie Mercury.
3. Bowie might be the greatest collaborators of all time, Bing, Tina, Queen, NIN, .

Dancing in the Streets with Jagger and Bowie was a great collab. You aren't taking into account the zeitgeist of the 80s as well as the tongue in cheek nature of the video of two monster personalities. It was SUPPOSED to be goofy and cornball. Also, the Aerosmith and Run DMC collab with Walk This Way was epic. Super unexpected and it fit together perfectly.

There were some collabs in the 80s that may not have shook the genre but were still great none the less.
Aretha Franklin & Eurythmics - Sistas Are Doin' It (For Themselves)
Aretha Franklin & George Michael - I Knew You Were Waiting
Tina Turner & The Fixx - Better Be Good To Me
George Michael & Elton John - Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me

Taylor Swift is the Kardashian if not, worst of the music industry. Nobody would want to Collab with somebody like that. Always a victim, self entitled, spoiled brat. Just me me me diary music. OR SADLY EVEN MORE, music that will get her charts. She gives music and art a bad name sadly.

Under Pressure still holds water after 4 decades and I still can't get over Freddie Mercury's range, considering how beautiful and raw it is. But as far as Linkin Park and Jay-Z's collab for Numb/Encore is concerned, it's solid as a rock, even to this day.

Michael and Janet should have done more songs together as Scream was an incredible song. The same can’t be said with him and Eddie Murphy. I want to be clear that Whatzupwitu isn't a bad song, but it sounds like a fake song used in a movie.

Let's face it the boy is mine was such a great idea for Brandy and Monica considering that at the time the media was trying to build up such a non-existent rivalry between the two talented ladies and the song quickly shut them up

You guys were too over critical of ME! The song is a light-hearted and fun one for the summer it’s not meant to be taken too seriously, but here you are over-analyzing it like it’s the great Gatsby or something

In the what were they thinking department - MJ and Paul McCartney with the cornball The Doggone Girl is Mine. Made especially awkward when, shortly thereafter, MJ bought the rights to the Beatle's catalog

I do not like Taylor Swift after reputation, I think she needs to do more Collabs. Like I would genuinely love to see her and Karol G to do a song together. Or how about Taylor and Nicki Minaj

Mick Jagger and David Bowie's music video might be cheesy and dated by today's standards, but there's an odd sort of charm about it. Also, Family Guy even showed the entire video during one cutaway gag.

Walk This Way! Taking the legends of Aerosmith and Run DMC should make any list like this, it was among the first collaborations that had rap/rock, and F-ing nailed it
