I haven't watched it in a while, but I think Xena Warrior Princess more or less still holds up. Buffy definitely has. Three shows I liked only had one season & I haven't been able to watch them since they were on in the 90s and that's Strange Luck with D. B. Sweeney & Frances Fisher. The other that didn't last long was M. A. N. T. I. S. with Carl Lumbly as a scientist who was paralyzed after he was shot & built an exo-suit that not only allowed him to walk, but to fight crime. I think it was a bit ahead of its time & it was one of Sam Raimi's first superhero projects (the other being Darkman. And The Flash with John Wesley Shipp.
But another favorite that I would say is a bit mixed on how it holds up is Quantum Leap. Sam time traveling around through his lifetime & taking over a person's life to fix whatever went wrong in their life or the life of someone close to them, while a bit creepy still more less aged pretty well. His companion Al's antics at times don't. Of course when he was being creepy about women, Sam was always scolding him for it. It's certainly better to watch than the recent supposed continuation which had an unnecessary mystery going on (at least in the first two episodes I watched) about Sam, Al, & the new guy Ben, as well as spending far too much time with the people trying to get Ben back. It was missing everything that was special about the original.
Sliders was ahead of its time. A series following four people traveling through the multiverse. No superheroes involved. Just a device created by a young genius college student with a remote timer that ended up being busted early in their travels so that the time on the other Earths could be long & sometimes short. The remote still opened the portal & gave the indication of the time they would be on an Earth, but they couldn't make work to get back home.

To Home Improvement's credit, it presents Tim as a man who seems like a crude, insensitive boor while showing that he is actually a good, hardworking man who will do anything for his family and friends. Tim's biggest problem really lies in that he is impulsive and has a short attention span. It may not have been intentional, but it seems like he was written as an adult with ADD that was never diagnosed. If it was intentional, that puts it ahead of its time in representation as the depiction of ADD in characters is often sloppy, even now.

1. LMS was very popular during it's run.
2. Home Improvement dealt with many serious issues. Plus, it was a show about Tim learning.
3. Yes MWC objectified women; Just like it objectified men. Yes, they BODY SHAMED, but they also employed more plus sized women than all these PROGRESSIVE SHOWS combined.
4. Roseanne, OZ, Freaks and Geeks, Sopranos, My So Called Life, Golden Girls were all ahead of their time.

A few years ago I was at work and someone had turned reruns of Baywatch in our break room. In this particular episode, the lifeguards were tracking down a bad guy who was causing trouble at the beach. In the end, they catch him and get into a slow motion fist fight with him. It was one of the cheesiest things I’ve ever seen on TV.

Chuck Norris’ Walker Texas Ranger 100% has aged better than you’re saying! People still watch it and love it and prefer it to the TRASH known as the CW’s remake of the series! The remake is 109% pure trash and even newcomers to the series say NOTHING COMPARES TO THE ORIGINAL for the Chuck Norris’ Walker Texas Ranger!

Another that aged like fine wine is Northern Exposure. Possibly because of its setting in the Alaskan wilderness, it was timeless. The quirky characters, plotlines just on the edge of surreal, excellent actors, and great writing all contributed to a show that is just as good now as it was in the 90's.

I rarely agree with watch mojo. Some I agree some nope. I see the silliness of Walker Texas Ranger, yet loved it. Loved Family Matters. Fresh Prince was awesome and didn’t need a reboot. Tim the Toolman is tongue in cheek and made obnoxious on purpose. Still love it.
reply

I know Family Matters is dated now, but I really love the dynamic dualities of Jaleel White where he played both Steve Urkel and Stefan Urquelle. Steve is an eccentric nerd while Stefan is a popular cool cat. Like Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.
reply

X-files broke the convention with their leads. Mulder and scully were essentially nerds. They weren’t your typical shoot first, gung-ho super cops. They were very analytical and asked questions and truly investigated their cases.
reply

Maybe you should re-title this list to 90s shows normal people loved and shows that were just there.
Loved-Walker, Texas Ranger
Home Improvement
Married with Children
X-Files
Baywatch
Just There-The rest

Seinfeld aged like milk! When you look back at the plotlines today, so CRINGE! Especially the last episode of the series! This series would not make it today. Truth be told I thought it was terrible back then.
reply

If animated tv shows where including on list simpsons definitely where ahead of their time also I felt the xfiles come all right time no other was like a time and it influenced others like it

Fresh Prince was never ahead of its time, it was perfect and spoke of history to current affairs, some even now. A shame we can't laugh about things anymore, a crying shame.
reply

Married with children was supposed to be in poor taste, and the misogyny was made as a joke. You're not supposed to take them seriously. I mean yes it hasn't aged but that's the point
reply

The Fresh Prince of Bel Air, Golden Girls, and Family Matters are good shows that have aged like a fine wine. They tackled serious issues long before we know today
reply

I enjoy the aged like milk shows simply because you would never see them allowed to be made today not with everything having to be PC, cancel culture, and boycotting
