I am totally psyched to see this movie. I loved the musical. And I absolutely HATED The Wizard of Oz, because of the ending. I had to remind myself that Wicked is referencing the original Wizard of Oz books, NOT the movie. In the book, Oz was real. In the Judy Garland movie, it was all a dream/something she imagined in while knocked out from the tornado. Wicked the musical/this movie doesn't make sense in the context of the Judy Garland movie, so you really have to forget it exists.

I won’t lie, I loved this movie. But there is a change I didn’t agree with: Boq’s last name. In both the book and musical, it is a tragic surprise who Boq becomes, that builds up over the course of the story. And considering Boq was originally a separate character in the original Baum books, it works as a surprise. Honestly if they had just gave Fiyerio and Boq more scenes showing their friendship, it would actually lined up better for Part 2.

It would have been cool if you had done the video of 10 ways Wicked the movie is different from Wicked the musical and the novel which John M Chu pulled from both of the sources to make this phenomenal film. I really hope that Part 2 really has some dark themes like the novel but keeps the Broadway essence.

On stage, the Defying Gravity scene takes place directly in the Emerald City. The actor undergoes wireshooting training in order to set up the wires necessary for flight. In the movie, it takes place on the planet’s moon, using real broom flight capabilities

Dude that scene with Dorothy, the Scarecrow, Tinman, and Cowardly Lion on the yellow brick row I just start balling my eyes out. I have so many memories of this movie as a kid its just really emotional and I know I'm not alone crying over the nostalgia!

Has anyone mentioned that they totally did away with the Clock of the Time Dragon It was a weird element in the book and the big backdrop for the stage musical. I never really fully understood it and I was glad that they skipped it for the movie.

I liked that they briefly showed Dorothy, alongside the Scarecrow, Tin Man, Cowardly Lion and Toto, walking along a yellow brick road. This is contrary to the stage show, where she's entirely off stage, and from what I remember, not mentioned by name.

If Kristin Chenoweth and Idina Menzel sang those cameo parts we just heard, its guaranteed that they were always better than who's now in the movie as the leads. Sorry but there is no comparison. My humble opinion.

They left out the green glasses in
One Short Day. which the Wizard makes everyone wear in the book. fundamental in showing the power of blind devotion to the Wizard and the illusion of the Emerald City

Ms Coddle might not be in the book, but every women who attends Shizz is required to have a nanny. So I saw Ms Coddle as a reference to that since the play removed that entire aspect of the school rules.

Don’t Be Afraid. Glinda
I’m NOT Afraid, IT’S The WIZARD Who SHOULD Be Afraid of Me - Elphaba
The BEST NEW ICONIC LINE In the Entire Film!

Not true about Fierro not meeting Elphaba till the ball. He bumps into her and makes a joke about it in the school courtyard when he arrives in the musical

I really adore Galinda and Elphaba. Galinda is like a queen bee but nice and kind. And I really enjoy Elphaba’s affinity for animal rights.

Wow! I was on the fence about seeing it and now I won't. Thank you MsMojo. It's too much. I'll stick with the 1939 movie and be satisfied.

Curious in why red lipstick was not used in popular and it was only a flower. Could be it would mess with the makeup too much.
reply

I like how Elphaba was uncomfortable as she was walking through the palace, and Glinda felt at home, almost behaving like a princess.
reply

I like the added scenes with Elphaba and Galinda actually rooming together, as well as the added bickering in What is this Feeling
reply

I love that they cast the legendary Keala Settle as the Shiz headmistress, who didn't exist in the musical, as a way to include her.
reply

If im not mistaken, Mombi is mentioned early during the school scene, I forget if she was a student but it would make sense.
