When I watched Mulan for the first time and Mushu said his first line I instantly recognize him as Eddy Murphy and I just KNEW he'd be responsible for a more comic side of this movie, and dang, that's what we got. (Now I also recognized him as Donkey in Shrek, where he's actually also a sidekick. Both are done in a way only Murphy can do it.
Now we mustn't forget about Cri-Kee, as that character also did a great job making the movie great.
Due to Tink serving as Disney's mascot now, you'd almost forget she's originally a sidekick, and hard to bear do to her jealous behavior towards Wendy. And yet, that is what makes her such a brilliant character indeed. And since she can't talk, that makes it all the more difficult to give her shape, as words were not needed to know what she wants.
Now I missed Ray from the princess and the Frog. A very fun character, and also tragic due to his impossible love for a star. Yet, he does show his bravery by doing his part and getting himself killed by Dr. Facilier for that. And speaking of the princess and the frog, let's not forget our jazz trumpet playing alligator Louis. If it wasn't for him the owners of the building where Tania's restaurant would get into would have tried to find another excuse not to sell it to her. I don't like jazz music, I'll be honest, but in this movie I could bear it thanks to Louis. ;)

For me, the best friendship I've seen in all my life at Disney is that of Timon, Pumba and Simba, well they are loyal, unconditional friends and they love each other, are together to the end, and exactly, they are not only friends, but also FAMILY

4Genie, oh yes, Aladdin never had a great friend as great and faithful as him, nor did the Genie. I'm moved when he says no matter what others say, you will always be a prince to me
5Flounder, is always there to help or accompany Ariel, and yes 3: 32 that is the best gift that any best friend could give you
6Mushu, Mulan's best battle partner and never leaves her
7Timothy, he is a loyal friend for Dumbo, he stayed by his side through thick and thin so he doesn't feel alone, I liked when he scared his elephant aunts by mocking Dumbo

The term sidekick shouldnt apply to any of the characters on this list or any other Disney movie. There is always a main protagonist in every Disney movie and some of the time they are a hero like character and sometime they are just your normal good guy character. So unless this list is specifically referring to hero like characters (Hercules, Mulan, Simba, etc) Then it is seriously lacking some of the absolute greatest real supporting characters or sidekicks

The genie never felt like a sidekick to me so with that I say for many reasons that timon and pumbaa are number 1 like they made 2 words no one ever heard of or know what it means and they made it into a phenomenon

Pascal deserves a spot on this list not only on the honorable mentions, because he tried to save Rapunzel from Gothel by biting her, I know its not the same but it was so cute when he did it.
