One thing I was ALWAYS wondering about:
In US movies it's almost always like, the wife is dead 1, 5-2 years or the couple is divorced for maybe 3 years max and everyone is like: Start Dating again.
I mean. I moved in my place 1, 5 years ago and now I am moving out and it feels like nothing in terms of time, it seems so short. If I imagine now I had a partner that would die, it would feel like yesterday when he went.
Why are Americans in movies so obsessed with not seeing anyone single for more than a year?
I mean, isn't that a bit heartless?
Losing someone in that way is harsh and everyone needs time to grieve and such loss is not necessarily done within a year.
Isn't it also absolutely okay to be single and want to recover first before getting into something new?

WHILE YOU WERE SLEEPING is the best for comedy and romance. Setting aside the comedic aspect, let's break down the romance aspect. Lucy and Jack NEVER behave in an obviously romantic manner, each only knows what's going on inside their own heads and hearts. Lucy and Jack NEVER kiss or do anything romantic aside from occasional looks that are never interpreted by the recipient. Lucy and Jack NEVER say to one another that they are falling for each other until the very end. This movie is the epitome of letting EVERYTHING out into the open until the very end. None of this will they or won't they get back together, because they don't get together at all until the very end, everything is just the audience's anticipation. Everything was saved for the very end and it is FABULOUSLY FANTASTIC!

There's an old black and white film called The Bishop's Wife about an angel called Dudley played by Cary Grant, who comes to earth to show an obsessed Bishop the error of his ways as he neglects his family trying to get a cathedral built and its set during Christmas time. Dudley decorates one of the best Christmas trees I've ever seen using a bit of angel magic, I just love that film.

Bridgette Jones is a freaking inspiration- she gets hurt, has her pitty-party, but then gets her ass back up and gets her shit together. I LOVE these movies! Such a great list! Can you guys make another on Movies For Romantics this Christmas of movies from 2019? Or do another one in general! And in the meantime, I'm going to go watch every movie on this damn list. :)

I knew Love, actually would be first just coz it's a classic. I watched it for the first time in October (yes I know I'm hella late) and it really got me in the Christmas Spirit so early lmao. No regrets though it was sweet! I haven't watched all the movies on the list though so I can't make a judgement

Apart from Moonstruck I loved them all except that Wonderful Life should have been No. 1. But Miracle on 34th Street should have been included. I loved The Holiday but thought Jack Black was totally miscast.
